  • My mom feeds 8 deer, 6 raccoons, 2 opossum and her house cats every night together around 8pm and if she's late the deer will knock politely on the front door, opossum 's and cats eat off the same bowls, my mom can pet them all, it's crazy how much they trust her and during hunting season the deer stay on my parents property night and day so they don't get shot, they are highly intelligent.

    • @@arthurmorgan8523 sometimes when I show up after dark I will have to walk between them because they all lay in front of the front porch steps ,they don't even flinch, it's amazing and they love my mom. It is strange to witness.

  • The title is great! Some cats are extroverts and some cats are introverts. I suspect that cats that get along great with other animals are cats that were raised in a loving and safe environment (their animal friends too). A few decades ago (before KZhead) a new neighbor moved in and she had a HUGE mastiff who was super muscular and pretty intimidating. When I met the dog, the dog just stared at me, basically telling me to keep my distance. Then I saw a cat approach the dog, and I fear the worst - UNTIL the cat rubber herself on the dog’s chest while the dog kept staring at me! The cat wrapped her tail around the dog as she walked by. The neighbor said that both the cat and the dog are hers and that the cat and the dog cuddle and sleep together every night! I love watching videos of unlikely animal friends. It reminds me that friendship is important to ALL animals, and animals will make friends with whatever animal is around - as long as there is plenty of food and safety.

  • I think the key to this is that the cats, and the other animals, are all being very well fed by humans - so they don't have to be aggressive to each other in order to eat. The survival of the fittest has been suspended in their lives, so they can make unlikely friends, play, have fun, enjoy etc. A bit like it is for us in the West (at present) - but how far away are we from killing, looting etc., if we go hungry, and without resources? I think we're all a bit closer to raw nature than we like to think.

  • The question of animal intelligence is still open, and we are always making new discoveries, though I do see a clear line between human and non-human intelliegnce, with the possible exception of dolphins and certain apes. However, in terms of emotions, animals can suffer sadness, loneliness, depression, and anxiety every bit as strongly as we do, and they can be playful, friendly, affectionate, and protective towards other animals, including some that might otherwise be their competitors, or even their predator/prey. Time, therefore to change the way we treat them at a fundamental level. After all, we ultimately are all descended from the first life-forms - and more urgently, we all share the same endagered home, the Earth.
