    • It’s baffling to me that Peter still can’t understand the establishment can’t expect any American to support the defense of another country until ours is secure. This isn’t about being able to “find Canada on a map or understand math”. It’s about keeping our own borders on the map and understanding the math around our demographics and economy.

    @jayhuiting5748@jayhuiting57486 ай бұрын
    • We can fix it and bring it into line with other countries. Folks don't want to. Socialize care with Medicare/Medicaid without the social control that a full NHS-style health care would bring. All you need to do it set limitations on pubically funded health care. Put limitations on dialysis, ventilation, and cancer treatments. But let's be fair, no one is going to do that. It won't buy votes. Best chance is some uber-lefty to understand we have a great system and it's just the last year or two of life where our spending goes. So they leave the current private system and get left with just fixing the pubically funded side.

Musk has begun mass producing humanoid bots. In 5 years these technologies will be capable of replacing millions of workers and dramatically reducing costs, such that the pace of wealth creations could reduce international friction and conflict

  • Why isn't Turkey getting more attention? The fact that Turkish naval forces are conducting military exercises near a US carrier strike group is quite telling. This situation prompts serious questions about Turkey's reliability as a NATO ally. It's evident that Turkey is determined to establish its dominance in the Eastern Mediterranean. However, its ambitions are in direct conflict with the interests of Cyprus and the Greek islands, which complicates its pursuit of the "Mavi Vatan" or "Blue Homeland" strategy aimed at expanding control over crucial sea routes connecting the Black Sea, the Aegean, and the Suez Canal. It's clear that Turkey would first need to eliminate the US presence in the region to achieve these ambitions. This scenario underscores the notion that Turkey might pose a more significant military threat to the West than Iran. It's imperative to maintain a close and continuous watch on Turkey, not just during the current conflict. It's alarming how Turkey's Neo-Ottoman aspirations are progressing with minimal attention from Western nations.

    • Turkey is a regional powerbroker whether you like it or not. They control access to the Black Sea and Agean (NOT Greece). Greece and Cyprus are pawns at best but essentially non-factors! Turkey "neo-Ottoman" goals have the full support of Israel, Saudie Arabia and the Caspian stans regarding energy pipelines and economic trade corridors. Deal with it!! Ha ha

    • Turkey's value to NATO is the control of access to the Black and Azov seas, which is nothing to sneeze at: Before February 24, 2022, Russia and Ukraine, the 2nd and 5th largest producers of wheat moved almost ALL of the grain through the straight straddled by Istanbul. Further, the control of access from the Black Sea gives or takes away Russia's wintertime connection to the rest of the world. They are also the largest, most well-equipped and combat-experienced NATO military force after the USA by far. NATO is not at all worried about Erdogan's little tantrums and if he ever becomes a real problem, he can be replaced almost at the push of a button and a telephone call. That's not a boast: He knows it, we know it, we know he knows it.

  • He said Hezbollah doesn't have an army. Jane's military media organization puts the number of Hezbollah fighters at approximately 30,000. That's just their full time strength. Add in their reserves, and the number is roughly 50,000. They also have approximately 10,000 special elite forces. In addition, they are financed with about a billion dollars a year by Iran which trains them. They have an estimated 150,000 rocket artillery units They have precision guided missiles. They have silkworm cruise missiles. They don't have an army? Tell that to the large amount of mothers and fathers who lost sons (and daughters) to combat with them. They are an existential threat whose objective is to ethnically cleanse Israel of Jews and impose a governance structure based on an extreme form of religious law. By the way, Hamas has about 30,000 fighters which constitutes a massive force multiplier for the approximately 50,000 man Hezbollah terrorist military.

    • They have a guerrilla force. Haven't they fought a war with Israel before? What did they do? Launch a bunch of rockets and then engage in guerrilla warfare? Pretty much. They don't stand their ground and so Israel plays the same game and executes scorched earth tactics by collectively punishing their civilians. Hezbollah regretted their last war with Israel because Israel can play the same game of attacking civilians and the Jews guard their civilians better than the Arabs.
