Not sure why they think their player base is 4-9 years old but, just a reminder- Sims has amassed a fan base over 23 years, meaning your players are likely mid 30s+ to late teens/ early 20s… not elementary school kids. UPDATE/CORRECTION: wow! What an awesome response! I’d like to add that after posting this, it is clear to me that the average player is between 14-60+ with the average falling somewhere in the thirties!! So while millennials may be the majority, the Sims 4 has an even greater older population that’s completely unrepresented by the franchise in favor of attracting a younger audience that could potentially offer greater financial benefit in the short term.
Yep.. im 30 been playing since I was 10. Bought every single expansion, stuff pack, store item and even art and official game guides.
Some of us are 40's+. When the first iteration of the franchise released, I was already in my early 20's.
Kids are more likely to download loads of microtransactions on mums credit card. Maybe they are the new target.

So basically... "Hey, you'll still have sims 4 and we'll make Project Rene so bad, that you'll think sims 4 is better.." that's the vibe I got.

I just think they get a ton of negative feedback from people who are afraid of ts4 dying. But personally I think they should let it die, it's coming up on a 10 year old game ... So much potential for a better follow-up title, though it's doubtful they'll manage to make something better when you hear where they're taking it lol.

@@rattootaI pirated some Sims 2 dlc since we only had two discs, I was maybe twelve and determined to have Seasons and a couple other things, but I have to say it was a serious pain in the neck to do since most of the torrents weren’t working. Besides.. The franchise has become incredibly unworthy of pirating since the beginning of Sims 4 and the downsizing of content to kits.. A handful of items you can easily find on modthesims and thesimsresource for five dollars? This is why the younger audience need to move on to other games and be encouraged to not give their money to game companies that encourage the gambling business model.
"Free to play" is a less harsh way of saying "micro-transactions" and "battle-passes" Edit: Also as a CC creator, I can't see how they are going to allow us to create content for Project Rene, since it will only cause them to lose money

As a 34 year old who has played since Sims 1, I’m so freaking tired of these videos being served to us like we’re 9. The “bombastic side eye” moment had me rolling my eyes into the back of my skull.
How did you get the reference
I'm 50 and have been playing since the first Sims game. It's been clear to me EA has been focusing on younger players for a while now. I'm not surprised anymore..

@@Wolff7676. Same. It just doesn't surprise me anymore. Us older players have been fazed out for a while now. The younger players that didn't play the previous ones aren't as demanding for the quality those games had.

The more I hear about it, the less I think it’s actually the sims 5. It sounds more like free play and mobile.
To save everybody time; they're adding a waffle maker kit. "Project Rene" is going to be the worst Sims experience as it'll probably be online only and the base game will be free so they can milk us for all DLC, Packs and add ons.

Oh 100% There's no way it won't be. The minute they said "free to download," They've gotta make that money somewhere, and it's gonna be microtransactioned. At this rate, Sims 5 is going to completely kill the franchise.

I want a Outdoor Retreat and a Get to Work refresh so bad! Maybe one for cool kitchen, spooky stuff, and vintage glamor, too. This game has been out for almost a decade - it would be nice to have some pack updates/streamlining.

Yes we want these things, but to realize the sims team has been working on things the community has asked for as well. For example: The ability to make cupcakes in the oven, a new STUFF PACK. I mean, remember how bad the community wanted horses and generations? We have that now

"It won't start with everything that you have in sims 4" "We'll certainly add more content over time in packs" "It's important for us to lower those barriers to play" "Project Rene is not setting out to replace your current awesome Sims experiences" So this is going to be a free to play game with bare minimum content with anything resembling the content that sims4 and 3 have being baby fed to us in microtransactions. Like they said literally weather will be a feature so they can give us weather themed packs. What the heck.

More playable Jobs please 🙏 An Update with Hotels and Tourism would be nice. Hotels, Airbnbs, Bed and Breakfasts, Summercamps, Campingvans,... Holidayactivities, ... New careers ... maybe more playable careers.... an Airport .... Or an Update with more societyliving and Jobs ... Kindergarden, Firedepartments, socialworker, hairsalons, Barbershops, daycare for Kids and Seniors, maybe rentable homes, more small lots , marriage agency, evening colleges for working adults, ubers, delivery services, Datingplattforms... the more I hear about project rene, the sadder I get. It feels like a huge departure from the single player experience we all grew to love. While also being a departure from the series formula we have seen moving more towards an even more transaction focused model (which is saying a lot)
I feel exactly the same. Honestly most of the Sims news recently make me lose hope in the future of the Sims that I know and love. At this point I'll just stick to past Sims games and play the Sims 4 with Mods that are more polished than anything EA could release

No doubt, it's multiplayer.
I think they've confirmed that it won't be, but I still worry that the gameplay and the overall graphics, that I'm personally expecting for Rene, will be jeopardized and ruined all for the sake of them being able to potentially get a few more players. I just can't imagine them being able to successfully incorporate it all. Honestly, I don't even get why people want the Sims to be online anyways, I mean sure it could be interesting, but the Sims is meant to be a step away from reality, and an MMO is not that at all...
I hope project Renee ends up being the Sims 4 but online. Most likely won't happen but we can only hope.

The Sims 2 is free just play it on old games download I believe after a game is not being sold by the publisher for a certain amount of years it becomes free of pirating or copyright.
They need to update it so people can play it or relive the experiences and have it work with newer technology. I got the whole game for free years ago when they were giving out codes; but it doesn't really work well anymore.

I wish they’d stop making everything like it’s aimed for kids. This felt like something that my 9 y/o niece would watch, & so many things in game are dumbed down like that too when the game is literally rated teen & up & most players already in their 20s or older. Like if I wanted to play a kids game I would’ve gotten something else

thank you. In the sims 3 you could do all of that, including build on all of the land with no limits. I miss that concept and until you spoke out too, I thought I was alone 💙. I miss it. The game was much better then to me.
Don't forget the sims 2, you could place the lot everywhere and you could place them as much as possible! You could even change the seasons (it was either summer or spring to me or even winter a few times) It's frustrating you can't add nor move or remove the lots in the sims 4😢😢

All I've ever wanted in Sims 4 is the ability to search the gallery by bedroom size and the ability to blank a world and create it how I want, name and all.
I loved that in Sims 3! You could create worlds completely... like painting the map and placing the streets and lots as you pleased. That was so awesome. I had a city with around 120 lots, it was HUGE.
what a great idea not having to pay for weather... wonder if they could've thought of that in 2014...
In reality they are going to charge more for the rest of the accessories that already came in the expansion
Correction: Not having to pay for basic rain*, but don't worry, instead of having a single "seasons" pack they're gonna have individual packs for winter, spring, summer, fall so they can pump your wallet even more :)))

oh god theyre not that generous, we only get rain from what it sounds like. maybe its a bit of a stretch to say theyll let it be cloudy for free

Yes we may get basic rain but they know that most OG players and current players of TS4 who have purchased packs are going to want to rest of the weather and seasons so will most likely buy their ''add ons'' I feel that this is going to end up costing players a lot more as they could easily break the weather into another 3 purchases, not to mention whatever other accessories come out during that time to upgrade your (what sounds like) very basic ''free game''. Releasing it little by little for ''smaller'' amounts of money rather than the single packs we get currently they likely will think that we the players/buyers will believe this is much better as we are paying smaller amounts. However, I can't help but think that all these smaller amounts to update the basic game play will be very regular and soon add up to be extremely expensive. They really cant lose by doing this as can keep putting out ''upgrades'' for the base game as often as they like 🤔

I remember in Sims 3 I made something like this. I don´t remember how, but you could pick the gravestones and carry them to another lot, so for a while I basically played focused on filling a cementery xD
Project Rene is going to be a microtransaction hellscape, and EA is gonna keep Sims 4 limping along at the same time to guage user feedback. Then if Project Rene does well they can cut Sims 4. But if it does bad, they can keep Sims 4 going while they regroup to replace Project Rene and smoothly transition to something else.
I literally got a time out for telling people to not buy the merch until they fix their game LMAOAOAAOA This is my biggest achievement yet I didn't know they hired moderators or something 💀💀

@@tianasoutherland5471 No problem, because I also dgaf about hearing about Project Rene or anything else (no offense to Mersea). If you're curious about Project Rene though, the highlights are they're still working on various parts and want to implement basic things like weather, but will add DLC for things like winter activities and so on.
@@RenopunkJo Honestly, I part of the reason I want a band pack is because it would likely add a new city world with apartments. The only other expansion I'd look forward too rn is a resort world with amusement parks, more park/pool items, and hopefully apartments and penthouses (because you find high end ones near resorts).

As a player who wants a full multiplayer sims game i have a feeling that i will be extremely disappointed because i think it won't be *actually* multiplayer/full coop as i want it to be. Probably because of a mobile crossplay

Unpopular opinion, but I like the idea since it is not replacing but existing next to the sims 4. So we will still have the choice. I really enjoy playing coop with my frind thanks to the coop mod.
With more Project Rene info they are definitely NOT beating those "Paralives and Life by You will replace The Sims" allegations.
I hope there are more updates for the base game, so those who can't afford packs can have more fun. I know it's probably not likely but one can only hope. maybe, even more career options.

@@_k33l4n_ well ofcourse it does :) that is the actual manipulative design EA had in mind all along. it incentivizes those that are unaware to keep buying more bland packs to try and fix this everlasting issue with the Sims 4. never underestimate EA when it comes to being manipulative corporate predators, because they are VERY good at this
If you're into modding at all, KiaraSims4Mods makes some great career mods to make base gameplay less vanilla. I just downloaded psychiatrist career yesterday! Some of them do require packs, though, but not all of them do.
So... basically splitting up content between even more packs? Legit hope nobody is surprised.
I am SO happy for the recipe list overhaul, and freeing of the cupcakes! Now I am BEGGING the dev's to make the skill Baking a base game skill and rearrange the recipe list according to this. It makes zero sense having cakes, cupcakes, and pies all under the cooking skill! FREE THE BAKING SKILL!!!!

I miss the world editor from Sims3. You can use the extra neighborhood space to fit more lots for houses or community buildings.
There should be a sims throwback game pack with cars, genies, robbers, old nanny nods, the robot etc…

Hear me out. I think the new EP might be about real estate, since at 4:45 a key with a house tag shows up and they've talked and shown so much about the Landgraabs' properties.
The Sims 4 Needs: 1. Mixed Lots (residents living over stores, workout studios, etc.) 2. A Mall Based Expansion Pack (So that they feel like malls with lots of shoppers, and even include Santa and the Easter Bunny during holidays) 3. Elevators For All Worlds 4. Hotels and Motels (for all of those nasty, cheating Sims) 5. A City Hall, Courtrooms & The Ability For Sims To Sue Each Other (they have jails, so they need to have everything) 6. A Fire Station 7. Cars! (with Driver's Ed for teenagers) 8. CAW (personally, I like perfectly symmetrical worlds in which I can number homes on each side of the street) 9. Elementary Schools (and not rabbit hole types) 10. Stores That Everyone Has Heard Of (how cool would it be if Sims could shop in an authentic looking Walmart, McDonald's or Trader Joe's, for example) 11. A Dentist Office (that could be another fear for Sims, as well) 12. An Office Park (with call centers, cubicles & old school telephones... and telemarketers and bill collectors for Sims to block, along with a National Do Not Sim Registry option on their computers and phones) 13. Home Alarm Systems & Garage Band Microphones (not karaoke, not comedy, but individual microphones for individuals to use) 14. Professional Sports Arenas (that aren't rabbit holes, since this is something that people enjoy internationally... my Sims would totally watch Tom Brady, Messi or The Rock do their thing...) 15. Black Friday For Sims (it would be funny to watch them camp out in front of stores and fight over toy cow plants and electronics) 16. Presidential Elections! (might as well keep it real) 17. Carnivals & Festivals That Are True To Life 18. Rock Concerts & Musicals (that aren't rabbit hole events) 19. Other Crimes (why is it so hard to believe that Sims are incapable of murder... I know, I'm just terrible) 20. More Empty Lots (since CAW is highly unlikely) 21. The Ability To Give Sims Longer Names (my Sims all have middle names and options are limited due to length restrictions) 22. Face Masks, Wheel Chairs & Other Devices For Sick And/Or Disabled Sims 23. Christenings & Actual Funerals (you have urn, tombstones, and coffins... why not formal funeral options) 24. Working Fans, AC & More Tree Options (for Sims that hate the summer heat) 25. Lawnmowers & Yard Sales!!! I'm sure there's more, but any/all of these would make me happy!
there are mods for 1, 4, 23 & 25 if you play on the computer :)

I Hope it gets more like the sims 3. You can drive with the car, Curfew for teenagers and that the police gets you home and that you have an open world and can move from property to property without it loading.
There is a curfew for kids and teens in the game already lol

I have to assume it killed her to audibly say "side eye"... I don't even think kids say it anymore 💀 When they first introduced "smore lore", I thought it would be with the dark stuff going on in sims 2, which was insane. Johnny Zest has the most boring lore ever and I don't remember who they did first, but they were also pretty boring if I remember well. They are trying to push away fans that have been there since the early 2000s and it's really annoying. The sims can be played by kids, but it shouldn't only be a kid's game.

Sims 4 however is their most popular of the franchise in terms of sales and an active fanbase. This fanbase is mainly preteens/teens (again obvious exceptions exist) It would make sense from a marketing standpoint to cater to them because it's them that's going to be more likely to buy Sims 5 than someone who hasn't played since the sims 1-2 era. They aren't trying to push away older fans, they're trying to cater to their younger fans. There is a difference The Sims is always going to be evolving, both marketing and gameplay wise as this game has survived over 20 years, even outlasting it's sister game Sims City. Change is inevitable, it is our job to adapt

Sims 4 is one of the biggest franchise because of the loyal fanbase, the more global access to a computer that can run the game, the new interrest in video games (not seen as nerdy as in the 2000s) and the money they have to market and produce content. Also, sims 1 and 2 were not only targeted to kids and many adults would play when they came out, despite being an unknown game genre at the time. I doubt an adult today would get sims 4 and play more then an hour or two without mods if they had no nostalgia from earlier games. One of the reasons why I play sims 2 is because my mom had it and she wasn't even into games like that. Not to mention I see 5 yo in servers of games they should not be playing all the time. This video seemed like it was targeted for younger then just teens and preteens. I really don't see the point to target a 7 yo if your game is supposed to be 12+. Anyway, this is just my side of thing lol no hard fealings, it just bugs me 😅

The sims 4 is the first sims games I passed on playing because they got rid of so much! They made it so childish, like why get rid of burglars and the option to redesign your furniture, clothing hair etc with the colour wheel 😡😭
Honest glad they didn't, they should of gone back to Sims 2. Sims 3 took forever to load, was a pain in the butt and due to my sim always getting stuck, they just stood there. I never saw the appeal. Sims 2 was actually exciting and didn't have so many rabbit holes.

I hope project rene will let us have actual bands with more instruments and several musicians who perform at simple gatherings all the way to full concerts. And dance styles like kpop, hiphop, interpretive, ballet, etc. I really miss drums in the sims.

I play rotational pretty much exclusively and my families don't do anything weird when left alone.
That was why I stopped playing. Some game update adds being a nosy neighbor as an aspiration, suddenly all my families start ringing me up demanding I authorize marriages and babies. I have that stuff turned off and aging frozen because I like my sims to play out the story I made for them, not all do the same boring stuff as each other while I'm not even watching them. Before I know it, they ignored my wishes and every single household has 4-6 toddlers with aging off and the whole vibe is ruined. What made it even more awkward was I'd walk past some of these houses during the day to find my uncontrolled sims derping around in the yard like they always do, with the sounds of several babies crying unattended in the house and alarms going off that they're starving, like it's my fault. The parents would just ignore them and everywhere I visited was homes full of neglected crying babies.
Bestie, I really hope you will deliver a game with better gameplay, a ton of features and more realistic animations without a catch! You have competition and don't try to turn this game into something a simmer doesn't want. Give us your best and make older and newer simmers equally happy. Listen to the community. You need to be better, way better compared to TS4 Lauch. Surprise us on a positive note! You have a community that loves the Sims-Franchise. Don't let us down. I fear that the next Sims Game won't have what we except it should have. 😅

Idk about the competition. Both seem very good but I don't think Paralives will be a big competition due to the studio size. Life by you might take some simmers away, but I can imagine a lot of people like me who will probably play all 3 games and maybe even get back to sims after a while.

i didn't expect a lot of content, but what i also didn't expect was the sheer amount of distraction & smoke and mirrors. we deserve clarity and transparency. we deserve a roadmap and to know where production and development is. we deserve information so we know what to expect. being upset over the lack of content is one thing, but this is an entirely different issue. all we saw in this video was "hey we're gonna make something and it *might* be good but just know you better prepare a lot of money to give us!". LIKE I GET IT! you don't have a lot to provide right now, but you could at least be open and honest about that instead of dragging the audience on for a long live-stream and not giving any valuable information. i'm tired of watching EA take advantage of a forgiving fanbase. we deserve better.

wtf? You don't deserve any of this lol. It's a game, they'll reveal stuff when they are ready to reveal it. This is how it is with literally ANY game ever released. Revealing things that are not ready to be shown does more harm to a game than good. Just be patient, when they are ready to show a trailer for it, they'll show it. It's a free to play game, it's not like they asked you to buy it now, you don't have a right to see what they are working on before they are ready to show it lol.

I hope it's a large base game update, but I'm keeping my expectations low because, well, EA higher-ups. Whatever this announces I'm not blaming any of the Sims Team, they don't make all the decisions.
Notice they said you can download and joun the game without a subscription to start. This is going to be Second Life: The sims version. Yeah you can join and explore without a subscription or purchase, but you wil be relegated to bare bones gameplay, items, and clothes if you dont open your wallet at some point.
