On April 17th we will see a historic boxing match that will be historic for very strange reasons. The KZheadr Jake Paul will square off against the retired pro MMA fighter and ex-UFC contender Ben Askren in an 8-round pro boxing match. Paul has a 2-0 record and this will be Askren's boxing debut. With any other UFC fighter this might be a cut and dry situation, but Askren having relied on his wrestling throughout his MMA career might not be the prime example of boxing talent that the UFC has to offer. In this video we "breakdown" the strengths and flaws of each contestant.

WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP SAYING that MMA's reputation hinges on Askren's performance in this match??? It drives me crazy. MMA, by definition, has multiple disciplines within it. Everyone knows that Askren's boxing was arguably the worst in pro MMA and that his bread and butter and key to his success was his grappling. So why does his performance in a sport that forces him to rely on his weakest skill set have any bearing on MMA's reputation? It makes no sense to me.
The people that watch MMA. Believe it or not, most people don't know Askren is bad at striking. So they'll just see a youtuber beating an MMA fighter. That's it.
A lot of non-MMA fans will see a youtuber beating a pro without knowing the context of the situation.

Ben will have conditioning and we know he can take some hard shots. Something Ben Askren will probably notice is if you look at all of his knockouts it's an overhand right from that montage of sparring he did. Not only that he was looking for an overhand right the entire time against Nate which he lands that led him to KO him. If Askren wants to win he'll have to do some dirty boxing from the inside and make Jake sloppy. Even though Askren is not a power puncher we are still unsure about Jake's chin, lets be real here. Now if Jake wins he'll more than likely fight KSI next, if not then he has to fight someone with a striking background in MMA or something like that,
KSI or Danis will be his next opponent
KSI is his smartest move if he does and I think it would be best for him, if he wins on with danis and then probably keep leveling up against MMA fighters until he loses

Jake might take a side or back step as well, because he's making so much money every time he fights, he'll want to milk this as long as possible, people are paying to see him lose, the moment that happens, significant interest in his fights will be lost quickly, as will the revenue. I credit him for taking on a legitimate fighter, he could have easily chosen another KZheadr, Non-combat sport athlete, celebrity etc But I think he needs to be careful not to step up his level too quickly, because as I said, moment he loses, too many will lose interest.
I've seen you guys talk about ben tiring jake out or dirty box him but y'all understand that, Ben can't keep a distance and dirty box, he has to get on the inside, jake doesn't just use overhands he uses check hooks if you date back to the jake vs gib fight, every time you get hit it tires you out puts stress on your body, in boxing shots may not hurt but it disorienting, and you lose focus and go of the rails, Ben can't just walk in or he's gonna get hammered to the canvas.

I got Jake winning this fight but it should be close and go the distance. What will Jake think once he hits Ben with his best shot and Ben keeps coming forward? I think we will see alot of clinching with some dirty boxing from both. I really, really hate to say it, I honestly do, but I dunno if Ben has the stand up and boxing skills to win this fight. I mean everyone can admit that his striking is absolutely horrible, as soon and they get in the clinch, where he is good, after a couple of seconds they're gonna get split up.
