A few notes on this video: * Minecraft originally used LWJGL, not LibGDX. I've received several duplicate comments about this. Thanks for the info! This was the first time I heard about LWJGL. * Notch confirmed today that he is currently developing the game alone. * Please keep your politics to yourself. This channel was created for having a good time with gaming, game development, and programming. If a comment is particularly nasty or malicious, it will not be tolerated.
minecraft now uses lwjgl. I don't know if it used it from the beginning but it uses it now
"Please keep your politics to yourself" 🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
@@Daniel_VolumeDown Yeah, pretty sure the "java" version has always used lwjgl. When I used to write/edit forge mods(nothing big) for 1.7.10 it was one of the dependencies.

The problem I know that will happen with this game is that, because it is made by Notch, the expectations will be unreasonably high. Basically, it's the same problem Half Life 3 has.
Pretty much yeah, trapped in the Shadow of Minecraft, even though it's a decade behind him now
it's not gonna be that bad methinks, half-life is an entire series of banger games, meaning the next game in the series is expected to follow the same trend, pair that with a cliffhanger and we have a whole lot of pressure. minecraft is just a one-hit-wonder, and their failing spinoffs give credence to this. the entirety of the minecraft community also knows the irrepairable relationship between notch and microsoft, and by extension, modern minecraft, so i don't think he's gonna be bogged down by a game that's actively trying to memory hole him. notch has also been upfront that its an indie venture, so i think that will also lower expectations. however, i do think the backlash will be fairly severe to a certain extent, not because of expectations, but due to (((political dissendents))).
Half Life Alyx being received well proves that Valve could make a hypothetical Half Life 3 that would also do well
@@My_Old_YT_AccountHalf Life Alyx wasn’t given the same scrutiny as Half Life 3 could get since it was made clear that Alyx was a prequel
Valve making a third of any game?! Wheres left 4 dead 3!! Ive been lied to so long thinking they only do 2 of any title. And back 4 blood is not left 4 dead its just a skeleton with the same skin. Add- back 4 blood was good, kinda too call of dutied with the guns but not bad. Its just that after beating it a few times its not as replayable as the left 4 dead games. Me and my bro have played left 4 dead 1 and 2 so much since they came out legit years and its still fun and different each run, but back 4 blood we played it like a few months and went back.
this could be the game Notch meant as Minecraft(or RubyDung? I feel bad for Notch, it must be hard starting a new project when everyone associates you with one of the greatest games of all time and expects another masterpiece of a similar magnitude.
I feel bad for him, but I don't think people's expectations are that high. It's a solo developed game. And Minecraft is a game that relies on its novelty. It's not a masterpiece. It was just a viral concept that, luckily, coincided with the explosion of internet gaming content creation. Notch is not on the same league of developers who have made multiple hits like Miyamoto, Miyazaki, Will Wright, or Sid Meier. I really like Minecraft, but I don't think any serious adult is putting high expectations on Notch's next work.
We all have sky high expectations from the guy who made Cliffhorse.
minecraft started as a fun pet project he had uploaded to the internet. played that back when it first started, I hope he makes another one of those same level of care games. people want that personal feel back in their games
Fun Fact about the name: A bitshift is just an operation you can do on numbers in programming, or more specifically, integers. Let's say we have an 8-bit unsigned integer (maybe called byte, unsigned char, u8, uint8, ect... depending on your programming language idfk lol it really depends). As the name suggests, it contains 8 bits, or 8 ones and zeros. I'm gonna use this example byte right here: 01101010 (which evaluates to 106 in decimal, but I might be wrong to tell me if I am). A bitshift, commonly represented as the > operators for left and right bitshifts respectively. Bitshifts, as the name suggests, is to simply

fuck sorry i pressed send before i finished lol So bitshifting is just pushing a 0 bit on the left or right of a byte (or a larger integer) and removing anything that goes out of bounds incase we don't have enough place to hold 'em. Lemme give an example: (numbers between ~~s mean they were removed after bitshifting) 01101010
Wouldn't 01101010 be 96??

notch pawned off minecraft to microsoft because the fans were being toxic towards him. 10 years later and that’s still the case, he made the right choice.

I think MS had no clue about how notch was looking at his game after the transformation of the ownership, making either strange or unnecessary improvement and addition to 1.8 which was already a nice and complete game, in some aspects they even just make "wrong" changes based on what the existing features was

It's been nearly a decade. People have been forgiven for worse
Omg, I had actually forgotten about that, do people still even matter? lol

Notch said some controversial and more right-leaning political statements which has caused his image to be tarnished
Excited , - I remember following him along during the Minecraft creation when he was still solo working on it-- this has that "feel" - cheers
I saw his tweets after downloading it again it was cool I hope only the best for him
glad to know that he's doing better. I know since he sold minecraft his life has been in a downward spiral, so seeing him not post his woes on twitter and start getting back into something he loved so much makes me happy for him.
It's good to see Notch getting back into what he loves. But I feel like he's a one hit wonder of game development. He deserves credit for making the best-selling game of all time, but it's also his only successful game. Plus, Minecraft was a genre foundation game, meaning its popularity was due to its novel concept. It wasn't particularly well coded, polished, or content rich. Also, consider that coding new engines is a huge undertaking, especially for one dev. I'm mildly interested. But to me, this seems like a small personal project to blow off steam, not something big or groundbreaking.
Well said, all fair criticisms. I don't expect something ground-breaking either, but it's nice to keep up with the progress updates regardless of who the developer is.
He's already said on twitter he doesn't wanna make a "popular game" He doesn't need the money so if anything a small, passionate playerbase would probably be the best he could wish for
The nostalgic minecraft music made me wonder if hes gonna add music as good as in Minecraft. Imagine Notch and C418 working on a game together. They would be unstoppable. And it could honestly happen. They both used to work for Minecraft but dont anymore. Might aswell start a new game together.
I’m really interested in his dungeon crawler game
the style of this reminds me of raycasting (like doom)but with voxele. there is a raycastijg game engine called rayca that is in development and it has voxels

2024 marks 10 years that He sold Mojang. I wonder if they had some clause in the contract that forced Him to wait.
I've seen this comment a few times so far. It's a possibility, but I think we would have heard about it in some way by Notch himself over the past 10 years if there really was a clause.
That's illegal lol, "We're gonna buy your game and you're not allowed to work in the industry for 10 years"
@@LethalChicken77 It's not illegal. Non-compete clauses seem to be pretty common in high-profile cases like Mojang's sale to Microsoft.
I think he just hasn't been motivated enough, he has posted many prototypes on twitter since that, that lead to nothing.
@@tortellini_soup True unless it also came with an NDA which is common with this type of agreement.

If he works with C418 again... we can only dream. This project could easily be another legendary game. I will definitely be looking to buy BITSHIFT the moment there's an IPO. Edit: I just want to say, this lack of compassion and respect to others because of political beliefs is the sign of a dying culture. Whether you think you believe in Christ or not, He was the bedrock of western culture as we know it and His example, in the Bible (the first library), is that we love our enemy. We can speak our minds, but we can also do it respectfully and with a pure heart. It's not that our liberal friends don't know anything, it's that they know so much which isn't so. Show them the way, let His light shine through your eyes and your mouth. Listen twice as much as you speak. Let every thought you convey be His. Stop trying to fix the world by your own will and strength. We are sinners, we are weak, and we deserve His contempt, but He chose love. Follow Him.
