Gun Techs. Brownells Gun Techs. Today, Steve and Keith go undercover at Rock Island Auction Company to show us a rare Welrod Mk II integrally silenced, bolt action pistol. The Welrod was developed for the British SOE (Special Operations Executive) during World War II at the secret Station IX base near Welwyn Garden City, England. The name "Welrod" is a conflation Welwyn and, we'd like to think, the slang term for gun - "rod". The Welrod was meant for use by secret agents and resistance groups to QUIETLY assassinate bad people. It looks crude, like a zip gun or something built in a high school welding shop. The sound suppressor is built around the .32 ACP-chambered barrel and will reduce the report to around 72 dB - about as loud as an idling car. It's not an autoloader; you have to cycle the Welrod's bolt manually to chamber a fresh round.... so the sound of a reciprocating bolt won't away your position! A couple thousand Welrod Mk IIs were built. BSA admitted to manufacturing some of them, but there are no markings that could trace the gun back to His / Her Majesty's Government. Welrods were used in service as late as the Falklands War in 1982.

They turned a Suppressor into a gun
Medal of Honour: Rising Sun, am I right?
Exactly.
And it was one shot kill lol
Jack UK that’s crazy i’m playing that mission rn was always curious about this gun since a kid
I couldn't remember where I used 1 on a video game cheers for that👍
RUGER .22 battlefield 5
I half expect to see Ian McCollum in the background. Probably looking for .32 French Longue among other things. Also whoever is doing the audio for these videos could you cut the background music in half at least? These sorts of videos don't benefit much from background music.
Very interesting! I’m not a gun nut but this popped up in my reccomended videos and I found it very informative
Thanks for sticking around!
Fun fact: they actually shot the pistol 3 times in the video you just couldn’t hear it
Where are the times
@@blank3683 R/Wooosh?
@@cheetoclips1904 dooble woosh
elitesgame YT you stole that comment from Ian’s video
@@blank3683 It was during the intro at 0:00-0:09.
My favorite gun in Marauders :)

Sniper elite ?

Eyyy. Playing Sniper Elite 4 while listening to this.
HELL YES.
@@silvadic2207 they have a four??? I'm still playing the original on my 360 with no internet.
No, Insurgency Sandstorm.
This is awesome!
I agree, background music could be cut or lowered
The location is Welwyn Garden City, (pronounced Wellin)
My home town. The country house where they made and developed it was a mile from where I grew up.
I like it very nice thanks.
Could you please make a video about Hk Usp 45, the original one? Thanks a lot !
Damn fine silencer.
Very nice
The one I saw was shaped more like a raptor, very smooth lines that kinda blended into your hand. The color was kinda like sharkskin.
These were in use in the first gulf war as well. Couple of accounts of SAS troopers using them. Yorkie Crosslander recounts being shown and using one. Interestingly these are still covered by the official secrets act in the UK.
Estou pesquisando uma armas de 1925 parecida com welrod II. Está arma atira com cartucho 12 36 e bala 44. Gostaria de enviar fotos para avaliar valor e um possível comprador. Está e de um tiro help pliss. Para colecionador
Cool.
First, the grip is not bakelite but Ebonite, second this is not an early version but aktually the second version released in 1943. It is a Mk.IIA and not a Mk.II as advertised in the caption. Best regards Anders
There used to be a co2 single shot pellet pistol that had an action like that.
😀😮😀 Really Cool Thanks Guys
Thank you for being here!
Welwyn garden city
My Great Great Grandfather had one of these, he was a pilot when he was given this weapon by a allied spy. The Welrod wasn't salvaged after WW2, and was taken to court to see if my 2x great grandfather was the true owner. The weapons is now in a museum in Australia.
That sucks man sorry to hear that on the bright side your grandfathers firearm and gift still lives on and is being seen by thousands of others :)
Pleas feature a 1980 smith and Wesson model 19 357 combat magnum
I imagine if you got caught with one during service you may as well use it on yourself

too bad he quit youtube twice. he had a second channel about 8 months later but it was small stuff an didn't go far.
@@darkshadowsx5949 He got kicked off for violating their bullshit rules. Would be nice to see another comeback though
Id like to know how much money these things are worth when you show them.
They do tell you that. At 0:24 in this video, $20,000.
@@bradmyers941 oh ok ... I did not hear it. I see it was on the screen .
@@briankerr4512 I missed it, too. Was more focused on the firearm than anything else.
@@jamesmbutler Drives me nuts to see all these dream guns that I can never ever ever own. Especially in Canada
pretty much only affordable for the rich and professional assassins.
That’s not social distancing 😂
the video is several years old. its just been re-uploaded recently. i remember watching it 3 years ago.
Sure I have read the welrod was originally concieved as a veterinarians gun, so they could humanely put down animals without distressing other livestock. Its been referred to as a holywood silencer and so genuinely quiet (and disassembled hardly looks like a gun at all) it making it a useful tool for the SOE.
You're confusing the vetinary bit with the modern replica the brugger & thomet vp9.
its sad the ATF forced someone to stamp in that ugly BS on the barrel
I thought they would have more information about it...hhmmm

Sniper elite am I right?
Day Z anyone?
20k for that 🤣
Mr 5G Meoff Nice things cost money.
How much would these cost to make today ? we should mass produce them and give them to Ukraine
There already is a modern replica produced by sweden. The brugger & thomet vp9 vetinary pistol and the comercially available station 6.
