As a follower of multiple sports, your content has to be the best highlights production out there. Always look forward to your videos. Thanks a lot mate!
Yup, this is my go to cycling channel the coverage is better as the tv stations are putting out it's pretty sad to to their level of content and then compare it to Lanterne doing this much better. Sad for them, good for us we have the option to watch it here!
@@MarvinWestmaas same - every other channel dumbs down the content and rarely talks tactics.
I'd really be curious about LR's IQ. The depth of analysis is quite something 👌
@@galenkehler former corporate lawyer tuned race commentator. IQ in check.
@@famousatmidnight15 If I would ever need a tactical analysis of a race this is the place I would go to look. Not only because he often goes into it, he hasn't missed things which the big stations sometimes do. I sometimes think they do it on purpose just because 'the story' is better that way, trying to appeal to a viewer base just looking for some headline comments to casually mention during their morning coffee with the colleagues. While the analysis here is more on the level you'd expect the team's and riders to have after a race. Which is why this channel has drawn so many fans, it's pulling us more into the actual racing and we're not threated as just another statistic on the view charts.
Ayuso felt good and looked good so he thought he should lead. Almeida was told he would be secondary leader to Pog and Pog isn't here so he thinks he should lead. Soler is Soler so he thinks he should lead.
Will Pogacar pull for Soler at the TDF?
😂😂
3 × Aussie stage wins in a row So good
And now a portuguese 💪😁
love these vids, I really appreciate how much better your content is than others in the space
Nice win for Ben. Also, nice shoutout to tristantakevideos.
I think UAE just has too much new blood not yet used to domestiquing, the power dynamics need to be sorted out in the coming season before they're really able to dominate like their roster suggested they could.
I don't think Almeida wants to be a domestique except for Pogacar, afterall he came from QST where he was a (co-)leader in these kinds of races. Ayuso should at the moment domestique imo considering his age, even if he might be better than the others, unless the difference is too great. Soler is difficult, if he had stayed in Movistar, he might have become (co-)leader in these kind of races, and I don't think he wants to just immediately fall under the 'always domestique' roll at UAE, especially not in a race like this, with this squad. So yeah, I think they definitely have things to sort out. Imo in UAE there are 2 riders with a clear leader place: Pogacar, followed by McNulty in one day/week races. I'd expected Almeida to be around such a leadership position too, but he hasn't shown enough this season and with so many other strong riders, he might have to fight for his place except maybe the giro looking at their provisional squad (which might have been a contractual promise?).
They just threw away money to get the "best riders" without thinking about team synergy ..... you reap what you sow and nothing makes me happier to see it happen to a team like that..... complete shitter tactics ... got to love it.
@@MDP1702 Almeida did not show enough this season?... You may have a good point, but did McnultyI show? I mean, Almeida did p8 at Paris-Nice, while McNulty did p12, 5 min behind him...
@@MDP1702 And I think stage 4 says it all, he won over no one less than Quintana and Carapaz...
@@afonsoteixeiradamota404 *but did McnultyI show?* He won two 1 day races and a stage in PN. He finished second in Algarve and although he only finished 12th at PN, he lost 11 minutes in a not really hard stage, which means either something happened (a fall, puncture, ...) or he might have dropped intentionally to be able to attack in a later stage. This might make sense if Almeida was meant to go for GC. it would make no sense for him to not even finish in the top 100 in that stage 3 even on a bad day. McNulty actually took time back in the later stages, if he hadn't lost those 11 minutes, he likely would have finished before Almeida in GC. And while 8th in PN isn't bad, it is still behind every other real GC rider of not that was present. *And I think stage 4 says it all, he won over no one less than Quintana and Carapaz...* That wasn't the case when I wrote my comment though. It is promising, but it isn't like he rode Quintana out his wheel. And Carapaz honestly has so far underperformed also imo, so he shouldn't exactly be a measuring stick as of yet. I hope both Almeida and Carapaz improve by the time the Giro comes around.
Congratulations Ben O'Connor...this has been a Great week for the Aussies. Thanks "LR" for your updates.
Congrats Ben Great win! Hope to see more
I think everybody underestimates the first 80km of the stage. I've driven many times up there and it's virtually 80k's of uphill with very little rest and some hard percentages along the way. that must have left a fair bit of them quite empty for the rest of it, so survival mode it is for most of them.
Well Soler always made the chemistry at Movistar even worse, which was a feat an of itself, while not amounting to anything relevant. Surprising he gets to apply this skill again.
Sylvain Moniquet watching this like "yeah fair enough"
Interesting LR! Do you think this is UAE trying to establish a pecking order behind Tadej? Soler, Polanc, Covi, all seem to have similar palmares, and skillsets... Maybe they are not keen to have Ayoso be the 2nd wonder boys on the team they have to support? Super pickup LR and this will be interesting to keep an eye on. I think that when Pogacar rocks up there is no question who works for who, but maybe there are too many egos/ambitious guys with similar abilities on the team??? Interesting... Will keep an eye on this...
nice take all so young going to be hard to not let road decide as it always does they are leading UCI in points by 1000 points despite a lot of the road deciding when tadej isn't at helm. Today sorted a lot out ayuso will have his days almeida style is hard to follow like cadel was he sets a high tempo and grinds so when hes strong doesn't jump off screen but can keep digging again and again
So 3 stages so far, 3 different winners, all Australian riders.
The old Lanterne would have been way more "gee'd up"
@@christopherdolan7330 He did a quokka roar on the pod. 😅
Just wait for the "Australia has a doping problem" trolls to appear
Surely UAE must make clear Ayuso's role, he's refusing to pull since the start of the year
Why hasn’t a team picked up benji as a scout? No joke his predictions come so close, man said Ayuso... picked Pogacar before the tour 2020 and we all thought rog..... Benji is a wizard! Also thanks LR and Benji love your work together!
lol
Smart boy O Connor 🔝 A little bit point for Uno X they really need IT. Who have legs for tomorrow Quintana?
Pretty sure the UAE rider attacking was George Bennett, not Ayusu. Bennett had the sleeves on and Ayusu didn't.
Ben O'Connor: "Hold my Beer" ..... . . . . then BANG!
no Pogacar so its a free for all at UAE
When are we getting Tristan take, LR, O'Connor, and Haig on an Andorran group ride?
You can get Marc Soler out of Movistar, but you can’t get Movistar out of Marc Soler.
I don't know what happened, but last year when Ayuso was in team Colpack it happened a lot of time that he played against his own team mates, so there were a lot of tension between them.
Joao Almeida showed that he can be a potencial gran tour winner. Although he isnt in a good shape at the moment, I think that UAE should stay with him during these races. If he shows that he cant be reliable to win the giro, then he will be replace by mcnulty or ayuso.
There were two attacks that were actually by Bennett, not Ayuso. One of the clips that you show here is Bennett attacking but incorrectly labelled by the production as Ayuso.
you can even hear Yates coughing as he drops its crazy the sickness going around
You mean to tell me that Marc Soler was involved in a situation involving a disfunctional team???
Almeida is the best. The future
Haha welcome to the Soler show. 😂
The main takeaway is Pog has a strong year around him now
Why are there always random DSM riders attacking or in the break in this race?
Just trying to put themselves in the spotlight so they can get a contract with another team and escape that hell hole.
0:46 scott should give them a dropper post. right?
Ayuso probably gonna end up on Movistar...lol
The least expected day special
Nice shout out to Tristan takes video
Quintana o yeahh
Such a shame that so many riders turn out to be sick.....I guess Yates will be a DNS tomorrow!
vaccine
@@blackpaint9093 dum dum
@@blackpaint9093 good too know that a KZhead doctor is here and knows so much🤡
@@blackpaint9093 Yeah 4 sure, everything bad that happens is because of the vaccine obv. Surely, Putin only attacked Ukraine because he got sick of the vaccine.
@@philipp4776 everybody feeling fucking sick? No explanation besides vaccine. Ever since the vaccine campaign was launched we've seen tons of these cases on sportsmen. Meanwhile medias spread bullshit like "watching tv may increase heart-attack risk"to cover the fucking murder of society
Yates’ problem is that today he was only Simon Yates and not Simon Felipe Yates 😅🤪
UAE tactics are a shamble very often. Someone needs to tell soler and ayuso to work for the leader. They didnt bring Almeida to work solo
It's not just the climbing too, their sprint leadout is terrible and more often than not, it seems they are trying with multiple sprinters at once
They just threw away money to get the "best riders" without thinking about team synergy ..... you reap what you sow and nothing makes me happier to see it happen to a team like that..... complete shitter tactics ... got to love it.
ayuso top 5 la vuelta right now (19 years old) enough said
They have a soler problem … like Movistar did
Capo!!!!
LOL why would they work for ayuso and not for almeida? It's the last stage race before the big goal for almeida that is the giro. It doesnt make any sense to work for ayuso if he is not even showing signs to be in better shape than Almeida
Almeida pulling Auyso? 🤣 Almeida is the clear GC leader
Ayuso doesn't think so tho... The same way as he didn't think that Covi was leader at Laigueglia and Polanc won
Just found out that LR covered the subject at the end of the video
i noticed ,ayuso top 5 la vuelta right now (19 years old ) ,enough said ,i'm sorry but ayuso is a better cyclist
I think this is one of your “earn your stripes” things
La Cerdanya looking good today.
Why? Your answer was given on todays stage.
It's just Soler being Soler
So true! He seems to sour just about everything!
Juan Juan the cycling man
3 out of 3... La Volta a Kangarunya!
For GC I understand the Uae stratégie, for stage win no
today's stage answers your question.
the answer to the title is very simple: almeida is their race leader. the question should have been "why wont UAE team emirates work for almeida?" because soler and ayuso had crazy tactics that lost them the race. rui costa was the only competent domestique for almeida
I hope that UAE does not become the PSG of cycling , they seem to buy the best riders but lack of tatics.
Don't criticise uae at lagueglia they done a good job 1-2-3, Covi and Ayuso were just waiting for Polanc which is the good thing to do ! 💪
So what do you think about who is the leader today? Still with doubts?
Rui Costa and Marc Soler are the leaders
@@LanterneRougeCycling you are right. They are older.
Its a director problem. No Leander definition, the same in Paris Nice.
Ineos lost a lot of money to their riders this year. I presume that no Grand Tour win for them this 2022.
If Carapaz is in good shape, the Giro is possible. But the other GT's? I strongly doubt it.
Carapaz will have a shot at the giro. They couldn’t really do anything about Bernal sized gap in their leadership after his crash.
In that stage with Covi and Ayuso, Ayuso should have pulled for Covi as he's the more experienced/ successful rider imo. But Ayuso was having none of it and wanted the spoils for himself!
wait, austrailia winner all 3 stages so far ?! down under domination
Why?
Here come the Aussies
I think Ayuso is revealing himself to be quite insubordinate! Or maybe I'm singling out the wrong guy. He's the 19-year-old and others expect him to work for them, but Juan Man thinks otherwise
because Ayuso has the potential to be one of the greatest ,top 5 la vuelta right now (19 years old) enough said
They don't have such problem when Poginis riding
Lol that unit doesn't need any support, so the mistakes are not even noticeable.
The 3 pronged strategy of movistar
Who thinks Mark Soler is looking more like G as the years go by 0.02
hey teams, riders ... tell me you watch Lanterne Rouge and take heed. #DirecteurSportif level analysis
Now you can ask, why they didn't support almeida!
yeeeee let’s go first again
They have too much firepower they dont know how to manage it, the only clear thing is that Pogi is untouchable
Aussies mate lol
Ayuso got the movistar virus from Soler...
Why would Ayuso be the leader?
Is Easy : Ayuso is a Champion. Uae Have to help him. Easy. Simple.
an extraordinarily dull season thus far sadly. hopefully cavendish lights up TdF. Ineos are finished.
