The way you explain every tiny detail, like HOW to switch between chords, makes learning ukulele so easy. I’m currently teaching myself ukulele so I can hopefully start teaching it at school (if I can get a class set of ukes). I’ll definitely be referring back to these videos and using some of your techniques. Love the "mouse in the house" trick! Thanks for all of these amazing videos!

I'm approaching 72 years old and have had 4 or 5 guitars through my lifetime and because of my wide hands with short stubby fingers could never get any more than a couple of chords right. I went for a harmonica instead!! It was suggested I try a Uke and so glad I did. Now I know its just practice, practice and more but I think I'm going to like this.

And yes, kid, I've five guitars, 5 ukes, about a dozen blues harps (harmonicas are for cowboys), 2 violins, about a dozen pennywhistles/tinwhistle/Irish whistles, native American flutes, etc., etc., so I know where you're coming from - and I bet you changed the high G on the uke to a low G, to simulate your guitars.

  • Tbh I watched like 6 different ukulele teachers' videos and I only understood and learned properly from this one. Thank you so much you really helped a lot. But something I'm struggling on is stroking the strings with my finger nails, I don't have long nails so they hurt a lot, the sound doesn't sound good and I can't play it smooth and rapidly.

  • Good evening Bernadette. I have been playing now for about two weeks. I understand the cords and feel good about the strumming. I want to someday play like Vesko. He is so good. I was very surprised how he was able to know the notes just by hearing them. How long has he been playing...? When you both are together, you look very happy. You are a great teacher. I love playing. You have got me hooked.

  • I've been reading comments, and I got my Ukulele for Christmas this year, and I finally am getting the chance to play it! (school has been getting in the way.) This lesson was perfect, I have ADHD, and the other lessons were hard to follow and very monotone, but you explain things just as well as you show them! I was getting discouraged with the finger placement for some of the chords, but this lesson was perfect! Thanks so much! (lol ik this video was uploaded before 2021 but I commented anyway)

    • That's it exactly, I didn't realize. I have ADD and can't follow the fingering on a lot of teachings. It is very helpful that she shows the chord from different angles, shows you how to get there from other chords. Plus she gives the graphics.

  • I just picked up a Ukulele and have watched several how to play tutorials. not one of them start with the basics of how to hold your instrument. and most start with C and jumt to more complicated chords. I LOVE that you start at the true beginning and take the baby steps that I need. without making me feel dumb. you cover all the things that need covered while instilling a feeling of accomplishment and the feeling that I may actually be able to learn. now if I can find someone with as much patients to teach me to read music haha. I have subscribed and liked and will be watching more and more. you are amazing!!!! AMAZING!!! thank you SO much.

  • I can really feel that you are a music teacher because normally on KZhead they will go so fast forward but you take good time for the simple things which is the most important things to get better and it actually goes so much faster if you just do it right at the beginning, like you make sure we do… hope that makes sense. I play the violin and have really wanted to learn how to play the ukulele for a long time but because I’m already good at one instrument it can actually be quite hard to start from the beginning and accepting that it’s not perfect yet. This video really helped me because I got that real relaxing start you need to kinda feel the instrument. Love from here
