As someone who has been to mortuary college.. Yes, we wire the jaw to keep it in place. Then, the eye caps have a rough side to them that help hold the eyelids shut. The trocar is used to help dispel any remaining gas or liquids within the body cavity. There is also a lot of restorative processes that you do (though not featured in the game). We even have to take a cosmetology class on how to apply makeup to the corpses. Another fun note, when rigor mortis begins to set, we actually have to massage the muscles of the corpse to help limber them back up so we can also dress them for the showing at the funeral. There's so many other fun things about being a mortician, but I won't prattle on. It's a very interesting job and certainly takes a certain personality and sense of humour to do that job. In fact, one of the main reasons that most people drop out, according to the mortician I shadowed, is when students have to prepare infants and toddlers. It's not just old people that come in, always keep that in mind.

18:27 & 1:28:33 These jokes made me get a nice laugh as a Hispanic who’s trying to get into Mortuary Sciences, and who’s reason for getting into it was through watching my favorite youtuber’s play this specific game 😂 Also at 19:01, as scary as it may be to work that late at night as an embalmer or mortician, it is also necessary. There is no waiting the next day to rest, because death isn’t something that happens at a reasonable time. When someone passes and is brought in, it’s better to work as soon as you can get there.

The best part is there's no like cliche jumpscares like in FNAF where they have a sudden loud noise and that's it. It's more psychological. Like the lights flickering, strange whispering, the bell above the front door ringing signaling someone...or something opened it, or the demon just standing or crouched somewhere watching in silence and when you see it, it just slinks away in silence. This is the kind of horror game I absolutely love.
I wonder if the dead bodies in the freezers were past-mortuary assistants and that's why Rebecca got told she'll die there

For anyone who wants to know, eye caps are small plastic contacts that go in the eyes of the deceased to keep them closed. They have small spikes on the outside of them to keep the eyelids shut. Without them, the eyes would open by themselves.
