Tourists are t required to know exactly what to do in that situation. You’re expectations are too high. Also panic and shock changes the mind and can make it hard to think in the moment.

    • This had me laughing too hard. I think maybe they were just trying to cover its eyes to calm it down or to try to make it hard for it to bite them. And maybe it was mostly women on the boat at first who were afraid of getting injured by it considering it weighs hundreds of pounds and was thrashing around. I think people are thinking they are lighter than they are because they're cute or something. That's the most charitable interpretation. They could have been dumb too and that's often the answer nowadays.

      @FrantiC119@FrantiC1193 жыл бұрын
    • The running out of time part was overly dramatic but they were smart to use the wet towel to keep the skin from drying out. Not as smart in placing it over the blow hole vs mainly the eyes (so it wouldn’t be so scared and hit them when they approached) but dolphins can hold their breath for a really long time so it wasn’t as bad of a mistake for they time it would take to lift it out the boat.

    • Diego Ruiz Lets make up a scenario to help you better understand the situation: A deer has found itself stuck in a deep pit and onlookers are not quite sure how to get the deer up and out without her struggling and causing more unnecessary harm (not to mention it would take at least 3 full grown men to pull her out anyway). Well, in walks Diego Ruiz, who bestows his mighty master plan. "Get the deer out of the hole!" No freaking dip Sherlock, it takes a bit more careful planning to help a large animal out then just stating the prefured end result

    • Corny Owl A deer in a hole won't die from being in a hole. A dolphin in a boat has very limited time. They had a boatload of people and did nothing except panic

      @goody8504@goody85046 жыл бұрын
    • +Corny Owl there was no need for that much men, just lift the dolphin s neck on the side of the boat then push the rest of his body over board, this way you only lift a part of the weight if the animal at a time. Besides, a whole must be very deep for a deer to not be able to get out, it could also panic when you try to help him and give you a mighty bash with it s horns. I think the dolphin is smart enough to notice someone helping him, and it hadn t enough energy to flick around violently anymore.

  • All these people talking about how long it took to get the dolphin back in the water... 🤦 By its coloring/shape/size, it looked to be a common dolphin about 6-8 feet long. That means it most likely weighed somewhere in the 200-400 lb range. Deadlifting 300 lbs in a shape that's meant to be easily picked up isn't even something everyone can do. Now imagine deadlifting 300 lbs of wet, thrashing, slippery, and scared animal that's smooth all over, has no handholds, and doesn't even want to be touched...

    • @@kentgil2526 Agreed, at least it's better than getting stomped to death while sprinting in panic, but, you know, if there's just a tiny chance I could get stomped just a little less than totally to death, I'd take it. I've never been a big fan of the whole "getting stomped to death" concept, I think it's worn out, it's been done to death so many times, that now it's just a kliché, it's old news, and I think we need new and more modern ways of death by large animals, why can't we, for example, get fin-flipped to death by a raid of constrictor sharks (a group of constrictor sharks is called a raid)? See, now that would be exotic, that would be something worth writing home about, if we weren't dead. Bison are just big cows camouflaged in moth-eaten rya rugs, and they probably smell like bullshit. I think we can do better.
