@ivona035 жыл бұрын
Anna Firnen It’s true, French is a very hard language to understand because it is spoken so fast and there are so many silent letters. However, it’s strange that you understand so little after six years of learning French. I have two years learning French on my own, and I’m understanding many things. What I do is the following: I listen to audiobooks in French and follow the reading, I listen to podcasts, and I also watch cartoons in French. When I started, I wanted to watch movies from the get go, but I realized that movies were too advanced for me because they often times use a lot of slang and colloquial expressions. Hence, I decided to start with cartoons for preschool children. It was hard because those cartoons can be too boring for an adult, but I did it anyway. Now, I’ve realized that I’m understanding everything said in those cartoons, and I’ve started watching more complicated cartoons and movies but that still have children as the target audience. I also watch the news, which uses a more proper and formal language, and I’m understanding a lot as well. A podcast that is really good, for instance, is Coffee Break French. There are also some good KZhead channels on the subject. I really like comme une française and not even French. Well, I hope this was somewhat helpful. Bonne chance!😊

that one guy said “la grenooji” with his whole chest 😂
I was wondering where he even got the "j" sound from lol
@Emerald Beauty Spanish "ll" makes a /j/ sound similar to Italian and French, which is different from a /dʒ/ sound.
@@imnotapollo4188 Depending on the dialect, it can be anything from [j] (English Y) to [ʃ] (sh)
@@Alex-fv2qs Oh really? I didn't know that. I wonder why this happens since there's a dialect in my language that does the same thing(pronounce words that supposedly have a /j/ sound with a /ʤ/ sound.
@@imnotapollo4188 There's also quite a few other sounds that ll (and y in most dialects) can make depending on each speaker's dialect: ʎ (the only sound of these that's unique to LL), ʝ, dʒ and ʒ

After 6 years of learning French I can read almost everything perfectly, but understand very little... But then when a French person speaks, I don't understand anything at all 😂😭
Anna Firnen That's sad, but they do speak very fast so that can be a reason you don't understand them.
Anna Firnen For real
Come to Switzerland ! We are known to speak French really slowly. French people always do unfunny jokes about it 🙁😄
Anna Firnen me too hahaha

Yes these are not really "French brands," but any brands with French names.
In London we just call it and pronounce it like "Prette". Never heard anyone use the full name apart from my Chinese colleague who used to call it "Pret a Manager" lol

"I have friends that say Pret Mainjur." I just want to borrow one of those friends for a day.
This made me smile. I think overall they did really well. And at least they tried! We are planning a trip to France in 2023 and I have been studying the basics. It’s really hard for me and I also feel really silly. It doesn’t help that I am Texan so I have a Texas accent with my French. 😂
I hope your trip went well if you have already been! I'm also Texan (DFW area, Austin for a long time) and have been living in France for 5 years now.....O.O I just realized I can start citizenship! I'd better start memorizing. Anyway, if you have not been yet, keep at it! French is tough, but 99% of the people I've met are willing to help as long as we start with Bonjour and at least try a little. I've had many impromptu French lessons in shops with a little spare time. And if you have been, how did it go?
Would be fun to see if the ones actually working in these shops know how to properly pronounce the names 😂
1:42 la Granuji 😂😂😂
It’s funny seeing different language prononciation and realizing how hard it can be to pronounce sole sounds depending on what you are used to speak
Always interesting to see (or should I say hear) how people try to pronounce things in a different language.
I took some basic French courses years ago and I got most of them right. Unlike English, French has some basic rules that help you guess the pronunciation.
raffik55 to be fair english pronounciation is highly incosistent
Yes you have rules, but those rules are mostly made to create a shitton of exceptions XD

As a French I have to say that every si for pronunciation is fun ahah ! I love hearing every different pronunciations 😭😂
Je suis française, je vois ca et je me dis c'est trop chou tout le monde essaye et après reflexion, on pense que la langue francaise c'est la plus dur a prononcer du monde, mais nous sommes ferme d'esprit. Il existe beaucoup de langues dans le monde qu'en tant que francaise je n'arrive pas a prononcer comme le polonais, le russe, le swahili, le vietnamien etc I'm French, I see that and I tell myself it's so nice everyone is trying and after reflection, we think that the French language is the hardest to pronounce in the world, but we are closed-minded. There are many languages in the world that as French I can't pronounce like Polish, Russian, Swahili, Vietnamese etc.
Bonjour ! Je suis américain, et merci pour votre compréhension ! L'image de la France est bien meilleure avec tant de gens qui comprennent la langue est difficile et essaient d'aider les autres à apprendre.
this was so funny! to be fair, I don't think pronunciation necessarily matters as far as accents go. No one pronounces english words in an American/English accent anyway but learning how to say things the way a native person would is always fun.
you should hear my french class here in england
Went to a Prêt à Manger when I was in England and it was v cool
