    • Nouns (even for objects) are either masculine or feminine in French, and nouns that end with "*ier" (poirier, couturier, soulier, etc.) are all masculine. That's why "Perrier" just doesn't sound right for something, and even more someone, who is a female. Just thought I should explain ^_^

    • @King Croft but nike is a correct way for spelling the greek goddess of the victory in english , and i think the most common way(atleast in my research). Maybe I'm just used to the "nike" spelling bc I think its pretty, but"niki" looks like it should be pronounced "nicky". If it was truly spelled phonetically it should be like "naikey" or something, but anyways don't blame americans blame confusing translations!

In Scandinavia it's pronounced "eekea" where the e after the k is pronounced like the e in echo elephant etc rather than the e in in Nike or or Leeds. Whereas it seems like the French pronounce it like "eekea" with the Nike/Leeds etc e sound after the k. I hope that makes sense.

    • Well where the guy that said the "big I" comment was mistaken is that he only applied the logic of the letter prononciation in English, without thinking maybe that's different in another language, so it sounded a bit ignorant in my opinion. However in lots of european languages like French, Spanish, German etc and I guess Swedish too judging by how they pronounce it just the same, "i" letter sounds like "ee" in English like you said so that's why it's natural for those who speak those languages to pronounce certain brands the way they do haha

  • The only problem I have with this is that people (namely Americans, especially that one dude in this video) get super ignorant and are convinced that their pronunciation and way of speaking is superior. It's supposed to be a fun experiment to see how people of different native tongues pronounce things, yet someone must always feel superior

    • Americans in general are not like that, though... ? I feel like Americans are often misinterpreted as arrogant, kind of like Germans are misinterpreted as cold and rude. There are just cultural differences in the way we communicate. I agree the guy in the suit is a bit obnoxious, but I've met people like that everywhere I've traveled unfortunately.

  • For the english speakers IKEA should sound like this: {Ee-keh-ah}. That is how swedes pronounce it.

    • I am half Swedish. The French pronunciation is close except that we stress the 2nd syllable just like in English.

This german American man who was living in america, started a company in San fransisco, which in case I've forgotten, is an American city. So therefore, Levi's is an American company. Not that difficult to understand
