Want to buy some DIESEJL merch to help SAVE OLD IRON?
bonfire.com/save-the-977s
It has been 10 months since we bought this CAT 977L Track loader that had a rod knock. After messing around all summer can we finally get the engine out and move on? Pulling a 2500lb engine and torque converter is never easy!

score getting the engine out, having the tools to assist is one great bonus
Much easier to put the Teflon tape on if you turn the spool around and pull from the bottom instead of over the top like you were doing. That way you can just spin the roll around and around with your index finger in the hole! Love the video!
Great job you two. I'm looking forward to the engine build. You certainly use your head and think outside of the box.
Good job guys. I've really enjoyed following along. I'm working on getting a diesel tractor running. Eight trips to it so far. It's been a blast.
Oh boy, what are you into??
Holy crap, that's basically the same compressor head that locomotives use to air up a freight train 😮
Need to get an old I-beam and make a gin pole on the front bucket of the loader. Kinda like forks you attach to a front end loader bucket.
Great work nice Lifting chain
love the old man i bet he has being a good father and buddy
Yeah we’re having fun
Nice work.
good job well done
I love my Aircat 1870-p... it has never let me down!
Yeah this gun is amazing. Now I just need a service truck like you!!
Great video thx!
Pretty involved project. I'd sayvthe Michigan look in to a buffer screw adjustment. It stabilizes the governor.
Got the new link to your bonfire to work this time. Got a t- shirt and hoodie to help out with the rescue! I have the old iron bug myself. Looking forward to future videos from another Michigander. Good job guys!!
Thanks! Where are you located?

Thanks for tuning in!
Great video again and the t shirts are great too just got mine 👌👌👌
Thanks for the support!!
not trying to criticise your efforts but you put a LOT of faith in that old manure fork lifting a complete 3306 + TC..glad to see your success,tho..take the bucket off next time
Those are actually forks my grandpa designed and made back in the late 80s. Not as sketchy as they look, I promise!!
you are doing a hell of a job on that 977..work safely@@dieseJL
It's an engine, NOT a motor. Love that old compressor!
you both have great personnality, i like your channel a lot!
Thanks for the support!
Really proud for you. I know exactly how much work it is and your doing a great job. I worked for my daddy and we did everything together and I always gave him the best of my things so I ended up with two or three of everything but I have the best memories of us together.
You made points with your IH comment!
Surprised I haven’t gotten beaten up
@@dieseJLIH made some good quality machines back in their day. We have owned two IH 3/4 ton pickups, one from 1960 and the other we still use from 1972. The newer was ordered with a more durable configuration and has done very well despite being misused or abused by a past owner. Yet it keeps running.
Diesejl, that what using two heads will help get the motor-out. and u didn't get ur toes hurt..
Yeah it’s cold now so the safety sandals are parked for the year 😬
Make yourself some extension forks to get more length from your forks!
my uncle had the same wiily's motor converted to propane to run his machine shop
Wow
ty, do you know i think is the luckiest man in the world? your father. because he has you for a son. i envy him. best wishes
I think we’re both pretty lucky Russ!
You need a cran arm for that loader
The “ radiator clip” is called the hard nose…
I bought an air cat 3/4 drive gun off the tool truck, and then gave the guttless pos back.. bought a Matco gun , it stomps
You make it look 👀 easy 😂
I’m not sure about that lol
LOL - HAIRY moments! I'll say!
Need to fix up an old forklift for your house. LoL
I know I need something 🤣
The fun Part of all this is...HOW IN THE HECK DID CAT PUT THIS BEAST TOGETHER..?? I Worked At Midwest Energy As a Temp, They Used Cat & John Deere Equipment. .I Asked Which Of the 2 Was Easiest to Work on.. They Said cat..
you need to put the engines in pieces in a plastic tub of salt water. use electrolysis to strip the rust. since you have several engines you should just do them 1 by 1 in the same rig.
👍
the ex army in me thinks you guys need to use hand signals for using heavy equipment.
Looks like to me the loader needs a transmission rebuild.
That rake is worth more than the two
Yeah everyone wants to buy it hahaha
wow you have the same voice as me...
Yeah , a bit nose heavy w a loaded bucket
She’s a beast!
I kept saying (futilely) to the screen: “a six foot piece of square red iron tubing slid over one of the forks (secured with a bolt to the fork, and two to prevent load movement on the business end) would greatly increase the lifting range of the loader. (Makeshift boom)
👊🤛💪💪💪😃😃😃
You really shouldn't work on heavy equipment if your not sure what your doing.
Best way to learn is by doing it, regardless if it’s the right or wrong way.
