The Motion Path in Maya (and probably in other 3D animation programs) transports objects along a given path, typically along a curve. I used motion paths in several tutorials before, but today i'll put my focus on animating the key value of the motion path, which is called "U".
In this video I mention a change of colours of unselected curves. If you're interested, check ou thist:
• Maya: Curves, Maths, C...
For previous tutorials about the motion path see for example: • Maya: Soft Curve and M...
The music: "Computer Animation" and "dmoll Traum vom Klavier", composed by Maximilian Schönherr, licensed via GEMA Germany.
just want to let you know that you make best maya tutorial i can find on youtube. Thank you
Man you are amazing....I always watch your Maya Tutorials and also recommended your channel to my friends and students..We appreciate your efforts and the way of explaining.
Thank you for the tutorial, Sir.
Nice! Thank you very much!
Thank you for the video! :)
Thx. I only find tutorials for open curves. Getting a perfectly looping motion path on a closed track is way harder to achieve due to in an out tangents not perfectly matching when varying speeds are used on the path. Got a tip for us?
very helpfull thanks
Thank you very much, especially for the people like me super myopia!
Thank you
Hi, good tutorial for beginners, I stumbled on it while doing research on another topic. I was a bit dissapointed that you chose to do just some random animation in the "P.S.:" section, istead of connection the U-value to an other object via direct connection/setDrivenKey, which then acts as visible controller for "U". That could've been great information for people that want to utilise the tool for something that is more in the rigging side of things. Anyways, have a nice day, keep up the good work!
i‘m never disappointed when watching FREE tutorials. but as to setDrivenKeys: check out my tutorial named Maya - Wonderful Driven Key
Can you still change the sphere attributes like scale ect... in the graph editor while its attached to the motion path? I also have another question, can a mesh move on its own (manually making it move by placing it in space and putting keyframes), and then mid animation getting on motion path? (like its not on a motion path in the beggining but it is after)

thx, i just happened to stumble upon your channel so i didnt know about that
i often find help there. it‘s a great and free forum.
NIce, thx a lot
@@Uhr24 hm ok
Thank you, possible attach multiple object to path ?
yep. same procedure.
Hi thank you for the tutorial, here is the scrip editor display while I try to attach the motion path for my time slider in b/n 300 to 1000 frame "pathAnimation -fractionMode true -follow true -followAxis x -upAxis y -worldUpType "vector" -worldUpVector 0 1 0 -inverseUp false -inverseFront false -bank false -startTimeU 300 -endTimeU 1000; // Error: line 0: Failed to connect to the path. //" so I need a help, thank you.
help, my friend, can be found in the autodesk maya AREA!

Once the motion has ended how can I add anothe motion to the object, once it completes its path I want to hide the object but when ever I move the object once it has completed the motion, it removes the object from the motion path.
did you keyframe the visibilty?
I export it with FBX and OBJ file and import to Unity, but it shows nothing. How can I fix it?
i‘m afraid i cannot help you with this problem.
Thank you, but how to convert Motion Path's keys to sphere keys?
what is a sphere key?
@@Uhr24 sphere is animated geometry in this case
for example, i want export this animated sphere in some engine. But when i do it, there is no baked keys. I mean, how to bake animated keys for sphere.
hi iurii, i'm currently not running MAYA. but maybe this is helpful: kzhead.info/sun/fMOoYc6fZ3SFaa8/bejne.html
How to remove attached motion path from any applied object ?plz help
in the attribute editor, locate the motion path tab. you can either deactivate or delete it.
4:40 is where he explains how to adjust speed on a path
yep, for the impatiant folx.
how to animate multiple objects on one path?
what‘s the problem with it? each object which you constrain to the path has its path node.
