Its the german U 17. U 17 was commissioned on November 28, 1973 as the fifth U-boat of the 206 class . From September 18, 1989 to July 22, 1991, the conversion to the improved class 206 A took place at Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft. From April to August 1997, U 17 , under the command of Kapitänleutnant Wolfgang Müller-Seedorf - together with U 26 (Korvettenkapitän Achmed Zaouer) - was the first German post-war U-boat to sail across the Atlantic, around the Caribbean and on the east coast of the USA to complete an extensive military training program. This was the first time German submarines were operating in the western Atlantic again after the Second World War ( Operation "Paukenschlag" ) and even 81 years after the last visit of a German-flagged submarine to the USA (Handelsunterseeboot Deutschland ). The operation took place as part of SUBEX 97 and included participation in various international naval maneuvers, as well as port calls at Ponta Delgada ( Azores / Portugal ), Roosevelt Roads and San Juan (both Puerto Rico ), as well as Washington , Groton and New York City (all USA). Highlights of this venture were joint exercises for both crews with the two Los Angeles- class nuclear-powered anti-submarine warfare submarines , USS Augusta and USS Memphis, as well as visiting New York during Independence Day . In the summer of 2010, U 17 took part in the NATO operation Active Endeavor in the Mediterranean with the crew of the sister boat U 18 under the command of Lieutenant Commander Frédéric Strauch. As part of this mission, the ports of Malaga (Spain), Catania on Sicily (Italy), La Valletta (Malta), Palma de Mallorca (Spain) and Brest (France) were started. On December 14, 2010, U 17 was decommissioned in Eckernförde. From 2010 to 2021, U 17 was in the naval arsenal in Wilhelmshaven. In addition to U 15 , U 17 was considered a candidate for being transferred to the Technik Museum Sinsheim after measures to remove pollutants and demilitarization . U 17 was discussed at the end of 2017 because of its better overall condition and the resulting lower renovation costs. The decision and transfer was originally planned for mid-2018, but was delayed until mid-2021 and ultimately fell out in favor of U 17 . On June 30, 2021, U 17 was transferred from Wilhelmshaven to the ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems shipyard in Kiel, where the weapon systems and batteries were removed. From May 11 to 17, 2023, the submarine was transported across the Rhine to Speyer. The pushed convoy stopped in several ports with great public interest. In Speyer, the submarine is now being prepared for onward transport to the Sinsheim location, which is expected to take place in the following year. After its decommissioning, the boat is in the inventory of the military technology study collection in Koblenz , which is responsible for the preservation of essential exhibits of military development in the Bundeswehr , but has been given to the technology museum in Sinsheim as a permanent loan. I could tell that it was being handled by a museum, so I knew it was in good hands! Sorry to hear the weapons systems were removed, however. Are they not an essential part of the historical story? I would not recommend TORPEDOES, or other ammunition, but the basic machines should be preserved in situ, IMHO. Why not?
When I look at these things, I see them as a miracle for the developing and consuming countries, and they are counted for the industrially developed countries in their work, operation, transportation to the water, or lifting them out of the water with this huge amount of weight, or their resistance to salty sea water and their non-rustiness. Greetings from me to everyone who works with them. You are really heroes.

Me divertía ver esta películas de guerra de los submarinos de los ee uu contra sus enemigo 😂siempre ganaban los americanos 😅
We always do, in WWI it was the USA that entered the war in 1917 in 1918 the war ended. In WWII with the invasion of Normandy led by US troops it took a little over a year to win that war. Germany didn't know what to do after they lost in France and then at the battle of the bulge. We took out their fuel depot's and that was the end for them.

waw that's huge, this is a submarine that can dive in the middle of the sea, it looks very dashing. even though there is only a carcass left, can it be operated again?
To raise that huge submarine out of water and load it to the trailers is a logistical feat by itself. I’d like to see it if you have it.
