In many ways the original Razer Huntsman TE was one of the best keyboards produced by a big name manufacturer. But now comes the next generation Razer Huntsman V2 TKL with updates like lubed switches, sound foam, better keycaps and yes, even new keyboard colorways. But with the Huntsman V2 TKL price being higher and the TE, how does the Huntsman V2 TKL vs Huntsman TE stack up in 2021?

  • The keys on the Linear version feel like you're typing on a very fast, very light and very responsive membrane keyboard. Some people might HATE this feeling, but I love it mainly because I love membrane keyboards for how quiet they are and how it doesn't feel like you're smashing your keyboard with every keystroke. After trying out so many other mechanical keyboards including custom ones and hating them all, this is the one for me.

  • I like that the new one is quieter. My current Razer is VERY loud. Also, I've never had a Razer ship to me with all the key caps in place; which usually makes one cap not work quite as well as the others. For my current keyboard it was the spacebar and both shift buttons. Last one, it was the caps lock and the enter key. I would really like to see Razer lower these prices they are absolutely insane. As I'm a programmer now and I use my keyboard more often. I'm probably going to have to buy a new one next year. Would really like to see something around $100 like the Huntsman.

My current board is a HyperX Alloy Origins 65% and it's very, very good. • The switches did feel good when I tried out a friends keyboard but I spent slightly less money buying individual components (about the same amount if you include shipping from the few differemt vendors) for a custom keyboard with hotswap sockets. (made custom tactile switches for 0.65 each) Branding seems like most of the value but I suppose that's the benefit of their prescence in gaming. I love my orochi v2 though, probably overpriced in some ways but the thumb lip thingy is incredibly comfy for my hand.

Wonder if I should hold out and see if Razer addresses that issue along with the roughly finished keycaps in future production runs… I’ve been using the original TE for maybe half a year now and have been waiting for this update, but I don’t think I’d buy it at $160. Maybe I’ll consider it if it comes down closer to $100.

  • Which is a better Gaming Keyboard b/w Razer Huntsman V2 (Purple) and Corsair K70 RGB MK.2 (Brown)? I have ordered the Razer Huntsman V2 (Razer Purple) for 148.49 USD. The red linear version is unavailable and the available ones are very pricy in my country. I am a Software Dev. I do some typing but I am mainly buying the Keyboard for Casual Gaming. I did order the Corsair K70 RGB MK.2 (MX Brown) for 153.48 USD. But I cancelled it because I saw many reviews complaining about the poor quality of the keyboard and broken keys after 1 to 2 years of use. I know that the Razer Huntsman has a lot of rattling due to its poor stabilizers but if I were to get a perfect keyboard in terms of stable and lubed switches I would have gone for the Keychron K series (Q is unavailable in India). Currently, I own a Cosmic Byte CB-GK-16 with Outemu Blue Switch. It is very clicky and feels okay to game with. The other choices based on availability and normal pricing are: - HyperX Alloy Origins Red - 122.68 USD - Razer BlackWidow V3 Pro Green/Yellow - 171.91 USD - Logitech G PRO (GX Blue Clicky Switches) - 122.73 USD Most of the Keyboards and variants are unavailable. • I love customs, they look and feel great. Problem for me is; no media keys, hard to find see-through keycaps, numpad uncommon, quite hard to understand what parts go together. Also, finding understandable kits with even some of the above features becomes prohibitively expensive. Got the k95 platinum xt for £150, finding a decent custom for that money is impossible.

I also like a volume wheel, not buttons. Thanks though 👍

  • A bit offtpic here: Anyone else here who had a Corsair K100? My factory PBT keycaps on that thing do wear off SO quick. Literally 2 weeks of usage and the texture is almost gone. Never experienced anything like that. Corsair even sent me some replacement keycaps. Same issue with them.

    @maxzett@maxzett2 жыл бұрын
    • If there is visible wear after two weeks, are you sure the keycaps are really PBT? I've used other brands of PBT keycaps for years and it took five years of heavy use to even get some shine on the keys ... but the legends stayed on.

      @FindecanorNotGmail@FindecanorNotGmail2 жыл бұрын
    • @@FindecanorNotGmail my legends also stay on, but the slightly rough surface becomes flat and shiny as you said. As their marketing says it's PBT I doubt they use anything but PBT... Also I guess the surface texture wearing off it can still be PBT. I'll have a look how that keyboard looks in a year or so. Cause I also already got some "squeeky" switches. Might aswell gotta get the whole keyboard replaced while it's still in warranty near the end of the period

      @maxzett@maxzett2 жыл бұрын
  • I want you to know that I replaced my key caps with the PBT keycaps, and I solved the rattling by adding a thick grease. Grease that doesn't drip, and has a long shelf life, bought it from the local automotive store. By adding a small amount of grease, it will stop the keycaps from rattling. I did this for every key that had a stabilizer and it has helped tremendously.
