FIRST LAND CRUISER TWISTY HIGHWAY DRIVE // DOES IT STAY FLAT & AGILE AROUND CORNERS?
This is a rare moment as David was able to take the new Land Cruiser 250 through twisty, mountainous roads and highways. Does it corner OK? Does it stay agile around tight turns? These are some of the question David answers in this exclusive highway drive of the Land Cruiser. Only a handful of media were allowed to take the Land Cruiser onto pavement - since most drives of the new Land Cruiser were limited to off-road courses only. Watch the entire video to hear David's evaluation of this TNGA-F vehicle on highway and twisty roads.

You convinced me that it drive better than previous models. Now I need to be convinced it will last as long as previous models. My 1995 80 series Land Cruiser still going strong.
And now you need to convince a dealer to sell it you at MSRP 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It only got released this year. Obviously we would have to wait 30+ years before we can make a conclusion in comparison to your 1995 lol. Also this land cruiser is much more affordable than the 1995 model. 1995 model was 39k msrp which is ~80k in todays money.
@@dhuntington6009they will have to eventually sell it at msrp
My Honda Pilot is equal size and has a very nice and comfortable ride, I will keep it because 90% of my driving is on pavement. The land Cruiser is very nice looking but if you don't need it for off road driving you should buy something that will more comfortable ride better. I drove my friends 2023 4Runner and was shocked at how bad the comfort and ride was. He doesn't drive off road either. It looks great but the ride means more to me.
Good road review. Nice b-roll and music outro
David, We the people called for a 'retro' styled Land Cruiser with two tone paint and Toyota delivered it. 🥳Let's hope they deliver an AFFORDABLE, compact FJ Cruiser to us as well. 🤞
Will be around $85k nicely equipped.
@@georgetown8986 Yes, that is the reason I mentioned the affordable FJ Cruiser.
@@rightlanehog3151 I have read where an FJ Cruiser may be coming to North America. That would be nice to have as well to compete with Wrangler/Bronco.
Thank you very much for your Unpretentiousness, practical reviews, one thought on this one ? The “A” pillar appears to be somewhat in the way visually, albeit I do understand the “Camera” is slightly offset from your specific view as the driver ?
Thanks, David! It looks good. I sure hope it has the long term reliability of the previous models.
Nice review, thank you. How would you compare ride comfort, noise level and solid feeling with LR4? That A pillar looks HUGE with the grab handle! Just the camera mounting position? Seems like it would really interfere with sight when turning at intersections?
I will enjoy watching you and many others drive these new line of Toyota’s. I purchased my last and forever vehicle 2024 4Runner TRD off road. At my age my buying days are over. 😢
We’ll pour one out for you 🍺 Happy trails!
In next few decades when all these new models are gone, your 5th gen will be around. 👍🏼
@@arashefi yea that’s why I bit the bullet and bought it instead of holding out for the new generation. The new one is nice though
Awesome vid as always 🫡
I have a 5th gen 4runner with KDSS. It has no problems driving hard into corners beyond posted speed limits. It has 33" offroad tires with Bilstien 5150 shocks.
I thought you had said in a previous vid how the 5th gen 4R was the best version on body on frame, now you kind of put it down..
Hi David- I haven't heard this mentioned before but I am 6'4" and when I took a short test drive of the new Landcruiser the other day I was struck by the fact I could not move the front seat back far enough for my legs to be comfortable. When I looked up the front legroom numbers they are indeed only 33" for the 2024 Landcruiser, vs. 41" for the 2024 GX, 42" for the 2024 Tacoma, 41" for the 2024 4Runner. This is defintely an important consideration for me. I wonder why Toyota did this with the Landcruiser, when in every other way it is so similar to these other vehicles.
David is the GX a lot more quiet on the highway than the Land Cruiser, and you suggested the drive was similar but would like to hear a comparison, thank you
No it's not according to this reviewer. kzhead.info/sun/o9Cuiqyni6pmp6M/bejne.html He suggests getting the GX only if a buyer needs the third seat or prefers the twin turbo V6 in the GX.
@@4af or if youre a poor
If you van pay the 20k markup go ahead and buy it...ahahha
Nice review. I hope this LC250 comes soon to the Philippines. By the way I like the video on the highway - what camera are you using? Thanks
why? most of you people are poor
@@juanshaftpatel7488 you're disrespectful
@@zhamed9587 why? its the truth
How does it compare to e-kdss equipped lexus gx?
Is that the same one that was jumped up a sand dune?
I’ll keep my terrible cornering 5th gen 4Runner with the V6 & heavy steering over the new Prado in LC wrap thank you!
Lol agreed 👍
What about the engine smoothness and noise in comparison with the old v6?
0:22 Is the A-pillar that big and wide or is it due to wide camera lens?
Great review! Local bc resident with similar vehicle history, (trd pro 4runner, tacoma, is500 etc) Having a hard time deciding if the wait is worth it for the hybrid powertrain Tacoma or not :D
Thanks for the review! When I test rode the fist year of the 5th Gen 4 Runner is was a SR5 and didn't like handling which was a deal breaker for me. Then I saw a review about the Trail Edition which had the KDDS system, test road that one and bought it. I read that Gen 6 wont have KDSS and would like to know if Gen 6 handles corners as well as my 5 Gen with KDDS.
How does it drive against the new GX550 ?
Really looking forward to a serious comparison with its brother 4Runner on street performance and comfort. Can already see that the rear seat access is better in this model.
Does the new Land Cruiser have a full size spare tire that matches the other 4 tires? Does the 4Runner?
I think it’s interesting that the Land Cruiser isn’t getting the rave reviews. Sounds like the 4Runner really is the place to be. I prefer the overall of the new 4Runner over the Land Cruiser. But I’m partial to my 5th gen 4Runner that I love. I like the look lots of the Land Cruiser. Toyota should keep the Land Cruiser, get away from matching the GX matching design. Figure out how to get a more industrial vibe on the inside like a dash that just goes all the way across that is flat and the infotainment (however big) is integrated into the dash. Similar to the bronco. I really hate the tacked on infotainment. Won’t ever leave my 4Runner because of that. I think Toyota should take the Land Cruiser the direction of the Land Rover in looks and style (but keep the Land Cruiser / Toyota essence). Basically make us an old designed (1980’s) Land Cruiser that is updated and reliable - people will freak out!!! There is space for this. Heck even the designer from England created that one based on the Land Rover. I seriously think that is something missing in the market. I really am not loving the 4 cylinder turbos but you can’t stop progress. Put a v6 turbo in this with my redesign specs and I’ll sell my 4Runner. I really just like less tech and baby sitting from my car and just the basics. Give me the tech out of my 4Runner in a new look and I would probably consider moving. Add more baby sitting. Add tacked on infotainment and it loses me.
Those mid photos of the blue LC front/ rear are beautiful. Imagine being able to drive all these new platforms. Pure envy . Enjoy
Is it true that Toyota's emission systems have an exhaust filter which need to be cleaned??
Great quality pics! What is your impression of the acceleration? Is it worth $83k CDN?
No. Toyota took out actual Landcruiser and brought Prado for almost the same price. The LC used to be fully loaded for the price.
@@induction7895 When you say "for the price", what you mean is "for this price plus another $20 - $30k".
Do you think 5th Gen owners will miss KDSS or does the new suspension take care of the nose dive and body roll?
Does the land cruiser have soya based insulation on the wires? Big rodent problem on 5th gen 4runner
I like the light blue with the white top. I also like the triple headlights over the round ones. Will be a hard choice between this and a 4Runner Overtrail.
does back window roll down?
How does the on road driving compare with GX 550?
The Lexus rides like a Cadillac and will likely never see a dirt road. Landcruiser is built for dirt and rocks.
👍👍👍
Great review, Thank you, is the rear window on the LC automatic, like on the 4Runner
No it's a popout
One thing i disagree with david is about the hydraulic power steering as in my 4runner i really don't like it and prefer electric power steering js .
Agreed. I find the lower steering effort of electric steering contributes to less fatigue on longer trips.
Toyota of Whittier and Toyota West Covina in California have the base model 1958 Edition at 70K, straight-up robbery. I have no need for a big off-road vehicle so the days of overpriced and 4X4 for daily driver is done. Good luck going broke paying all that money for a 4 cylinder.
So Cal is full of rich pretentious people that will pay an extra $15k to be the first to have a vehicle in their neighborhood.
Really liking the LC over the 4R but I have to say that the 4R seems to be stealing the title of most off road worth vehicle from the LC. I hope Toyota adds a TRD Pro/Trailhunter trim to this. The LC was always the flagship off road, go anywhere vehicle, over engineered to last decades. Seems like the other vehicles on this platform are now being engineered to the same level, so aside from the design, I’m not sure how the LC is standing out anymore. It doesn’t even come with off road tires. A fully equipped 4R Trail hunter would be more suited for off road adventures, with a more engaging interior, and roll down rear window!
How does it drive compared to the GX 550?
I have the same question. There is actually at least one video out doing a nice comparison, but it would be great having a few opinions.
Need a comparison of this vs the full fledged 200 series.
When will this be available in Canada ?
When this is going to come to the dealers? What mark up are they are going to ask? Not paying a penny over sticker!
I prefer the 2025 4Runner TRD Pro and body design on 4Runner looks more better looking
Im getting annoyed with these youtuber reviewers literally doing the same reviews on the same vehicle on the same day as if they were all given the same script
If they are negative on a vehicle, it will be the last time they get a Toyota to review and they will be out of business. Car reviews on KZhead are always positive rah rah.
@@JamesG1126 Toyota does not pay for advertised testing. Nearly all others do.
Well…. It could be they all get access on the same day. Since reviewing a vehicle is a technical activity…. 90%+ should come to the same conclusion….. if the reviews were all over the place you wouldn’t be able to tell who knows their stuff. It’s like reviewing a Ford. Everyone should come to the conclusion they are garbage, and that’s how you know everyone is dialled in.
@@JamesG1126so if it’s a positive review they’re shills?
They all get kick backs from toyota. So they have to praise every vehicle given to them. Similar to the mainstream media now a days.
no hydraulic steering no v6. booo keping my 5 gen 4 runner. i like the heavy feedback steering on my 5 gen
I hope there’ll be no recall for this Land Cruiser
Hi David, Excellent video this looks like a very capable video on an off-road … I would really like to know what this vehicle with all the accessories and options would cost out the door. I’m guessing it’s going to be in the high 70s. What do you think?🇯🇵🤍❤️ overall, I like the vehicle… I think for what they’re gonna charge in my opinion. I’m probably better off with Lexus GX 550 over trail plus
How does the seatting position compare to 5th Gen 4Runner?
this is exactly the type of review we need to determine whether a 4WD is good enough to live with day to day- many thanks
I definitely like the Land Cruiser design better than the new 4Runner! Curious to see how they compare off-road.
What's it mean when a car loses composure?
two things are missing, pre wired aux switches and rolling down rear window...
$90,000 markup in California BLOODY HELL 😅😅😅
Honestly, not much to learn here. A full Car and Driver test where they push the car to it's limits will reveal more than just a neighborhood drive.
so gx 460 is better
Sounds like someone is drinking the Toyota Kool Aid
Sounds like it drives almost as good as a Nissan Xterra! Good job, Toyota!
It’s got a turbo. It will be unreliable
Get a Rivian… you’ll be happier.
That “oh shit” handle on the A Pilar has got to go!!! Unnecessary blind spot.
