Big male lion shows lioness how to deal with hyenas

A pack of hyenas took down a zebra when a lioness showed up trying to steal from the hyenas and almost got a mauling from the hyenas, when suddenly a big male lion appears and the hyenas scatter away. Hyenas are more afraid of male lions because male lions usually have a reputation of dealing with hyenas whenever they have an encounter with them.

Little cats do that too.
its all brain chemicals just like with people.
@@clutchpedalreturnsprg7710 In truth lions are the only cats to do this (in wilde) this is because they are the only social cat on the planet, the other species at most only do it when they have to mate or in domesticated environments, but they not have the complex sociality of a lion, they are solitary, they come together only to reproduce so at most they form long-lasting (but periodic) bonds between the same male and the same female, probably in Africa these cats have become social to defend their prey from hyenas or other scavengers...(don't explain it differently since they are the only ones, therefore an anomaly) leopards who hunt solitarily have in fact learned to carry their prey up the tree to feed in peace, otherwise hyenas would steal their every kill... (likewise the competitive environment may have pushed the lions to cooperate)
The Lion did 3 things: 1. He protected his Queen's! 2. He scavenged from hyena's, without injury! 3. And, he _definitely_ made cubs that night!

only brownie points to get to the meat
@@Lucas_Tulic It's survival... the world is not fair, there are no "free" meals. A hierarchy must be established and order must prevail in order for both the male and female lions to continue as a species. Afsar Muhammad Nah, male lions can just take food whenever they want and nobody can do anything about it. It’s always like that. They don’t do all that thinking about why they deserve food more than others. Lionesses do a lot of work, too. In fact, most of the time more than the males because males don’t always encounter threats when they patrol. The males want it, so they’ll have it. That’s the animal way
@@Kevin-rj5zp Compare hunting down a zebra or something like that in a pack of five lionesses to encountering two or three other males lions when you're alone while patrolling your pride's territory. Try and see which one is harder to deal with. Also, I'm not sure you're aware but if the lionesses are dealing with prey that is too dangerous for them (for example, a giraffe - they can kill or cause deadly injuries with their kicks), the male lions usually come in to help and take it down because they're heavier, stronger, and usually bigger than the females. But again, lionesses and male lions need each other. They fulfill different jobs and without one another they can't survive.
After the affection at 1:34 ..notice the chemistry and unity be displayed through synchronization in the walk of the two lioness, as they then proceed to show affection/gratitude to the male
It's was poetry..they moved as 1
@Abby10 exactly.. it was beautiful.. I may sound crazy, but I believe us humans can/are supposed to move in sync as we seen here. These animals had genuine affection, and it makes me think this is a glimpse of what mankind can be. Like, the synchronization is in nature in general.. idk 🤷🏾♂️ just a thought
Watched a nature documentary years ago on PBS. There was a very old male lion pitted against a pack of hyenas. That old male lion took out 18 of those hyenas before they got him. There's a good reason they scattered when he showed up.
Hyenas aren't great fighters individually. They don't have the paws as weapons like the lions do. This would be like fighting another human without your arms and your only weapon is your bite. Granted Hyenas have super strong bites, it's still much harder to land a substantial hit without getting fucked up first.
Hyenas usually rock in a clan of around 30. Bro almost got the solo-squads W as an old ass man

@@jeffe1023 Yeah and that old male lion was probably malnourished as well since as they age they lose weight and become weaker hence it would be harder for them to hunt and thus become much more vulnerable.

Even the vultures keep their distance. I like how the lioness cuddle up to the male lion. Apparently they aren't feminist and appreciate his presence.
If all animals turned feminist or gay for one year, the entire animal population on earth would disappear. Then humans would disappear, then all plant life would disappear because plants breathe carbon dioxide, which is produced when animals breathe. So the atmosphere would disappear too. Then the earth would burn up and become a desolate planet. A rock of sand, because the water would disappear too. It's almost like there's a "barren planet" agenda going on... makes you wonder.
That is not cuddling. We are judging from our human lens. They are getting his scent all over their body. Sharing it from one another. It's a sign of belonging and protection the hyenas will not approach these females again when they get the scent of the male lion all over them.
