When long-distance runner Ivan Fernandez was given the opportunity to pass Kenyan runner Abel Mutai at the end of a race because Abel had misunderstood where the finish line was, rather than exploit Abel's mistake and take the first place honors, Ivan chose to point Abel forward and let Abel cross the finish line first.
Iván's gesture of kindness transcended the boundaries of sport, leaving an indelible mark on millions who have since heard his story.

There are no enemies in sports only competitors.
As a runner, you don't give up victory after all the sweat and tears you go through leading up to the race. For Ivan to put sportsmanship over himself cost him victory but he became a champion on that day.
Sportsmanship is under-rated. This is refreshing to see in a world where many people think winning is everything.
