That astonishing kick by Floria Guei - and the worthy call of it - never get old. Amazing how fast she closed and edged the field!
It was not fair....she was on a bike...
Best part is the French commentators keep saying, basically, "no way, not gonna happen, too late etc." until she actually wins!
@@raymondpaddy7004that's not what they were saying at all...but you know what.....you say what you want.
Mentally I still can't wrap my head around how she did that kick - I'd love to learn it and mimic it.
😊buenas tardes
Evelyn Ashford. Something so mature and/or classic about her. Sophisticated style. Humble and underrated. I loved watching her run. Overshadowed by bigger names but what a runner.
Cool as the other side of the pillow Cool as a fan
@@siriosstar4789 No underrated because if you ask a lot of people who claim to be music fans… Jackson Browne won’t be one of the first hundred brought up
Not quite bigger names.. but BIG drugs!
"USA" Those people are from Africa.
And she didn't need the nails like FloJo or JJ Kersee. Or the USA women's 4x100m in July 2022. False eyelashes and foundation, what? Says a man with 50,000 running miles including 10,000 race miles at age 42
The lady who tripped into the water, had a blessing in disguise. LoL. The water would have refreshed her body a bit...giving her a cool state of mind taking in the breeze to make the situation better...
I don't think you've had any racing experience to say this.
Probably right to some degree, but not a good strategy.
@@teddydavis3504 didn’t know an old man watches these kinda of videos, no offense just saying …no offense XD
@@az.x25 how u still saying XD I remember saying that like 6 years ago
@Brendan Man, lighten up a little. Michael Ai was clearly kidding. 😂
Floria Guei's race is just unreal. #1
add Safin Hassan's performance on August 2, 2021. It makes her a legend.
Aggree.. 2 time she at behind n last lap she moving so fast to be a winner..
@@mizanhasim5058 don't forget the fall in the 1500
Jaaaaa our Hassan!
True !!
Floria Guei is a legend!
Thanks for these. Some great moments. I had nearly forgotten the Evelyn Ashford win in Seoul. It made me so happy to see it again.
Ah, Miss Ashford..I remember that race; notice how she crosses the line first, kept to herself, no celebration, politely handed the baton to the official, and was nonchalant all the way through. Class. But to have a list like this and not have Dave Wottle's comeback in 800 at '72 Olympics is a travesty. The dude was last (as far back as 20 yards) from beginning until he made a move with 300 meters to go//
Thanks for giving her a name..... Seeing these performances for the first time and thinking "Wow... how can someone be so gorgeous?" . If I was 50 years younger, I think I'd be trolling.
He didn’t make a move. Everyone else just slowed down. It was a famously even paced race.
Also Borzakovskiy 800 m win in 2004 Olympics.
You sound silly
Great comebacks but it seems the world has forgotten the Finnish athlete Lasse Virén and his race in the 1972 olympics, 10000m: He fell half way through the race, got up having lost 50 m to the leaders but still caught up with them and won - setting a new world record! Edit: corrected the spelling, tnx for pointing it out.
He is Virén, not Wirén. Earth's most famous truck driver. I did born 1970, so I did skip 1972 competition.
@@MeMe-ph1wdLasse Viren he was police
Yes I know / tiedän kyllä.
I watched the Floria Guei race a dozen times, the race and the commentators, even though I don't speak French was brilliant and the background music too. Good post
These athletes give me goose bumps! Awesome.
Evelyn Ashford is my favorite runner of all time. It was great to see her once again in all her glory.
Mine too
I remember watching that incredible Evelyn Ashford final leg. One of my favorite memories from track.
I was 15yrs old during the 1984 Summer Olympics. I was biting my nails and screaming like I had lost my mind. I, for some stupid reason thought the louder I screamed, the faster she would run. That theory as unrealistic as it was, miraculously worked in thar race. I'll fondly remember that summer AND THAT RACE FOR THE R3ST OF MY LIFE!!!!!
OMG, Evelyn Ashford... The best and all class & reserve...
Yeah, this video has a awesome end with Evelyn Ashford shutting it down! She is bad. 🥰
I've been impressed in certain sport events, And Im still rejoicing with their surprise victory , One is Billy Mills in 1964 Tokio olympics and Evelyn Ashford in 1988 Seul South Korea, They developed such power in the end that amazed many and made the crowd shake the sits at the stadium . What a joy . God bless U.S.A.
Michael Franks' marvellous comeback was the best for me. Got to see the race in full to really appreciate the effort he put in. I recall watching that live and the sheer thrill of it. He did get a little help as Innocent Edbunike (Nigeria) who was leading with just 5 metres to go turned momentarily to see Franks coming up to his shoulder. It caused him to lose a little momentum and Franks just nudged ahead.
Evelyn Ashford! Whew, she takes my breath away!
How ironic is it that she beat a German with “Take My Breath Away” sung by a band named Berlin.
She was so cool calm and collected afterwards, too.
@@sarashepard7504 I know right! She barely looks winded. Amazing!
What a "SPECTACULAR" MOMENT...SALUTE!!
Very nice HD. Evelyn Ashford's come from behind victory in the 4x100 relay will always be my favorite.😷
3:41 I love this last breathtaking race
Imagine being the lead runner nearing the finish line and catching Evelyn out of the corner of your eye and knowing there was nothing you could do to fend her off.
Every one of those finishes was so inspirational and what life is/should be about. Never, Give up!
Hopefully you learn how to use comma next time. What you said is true though :-)
@0:49 Is immortal. She literally came out of the depths of hell to win it..
I see what you did here hahahahhah!
Watch the whole race, she comes from veeeeryyyyy far
I love the narrations in different languages.
thanks man, these videos inspire me the most 👍🏼
These athletes give me goose bumps! Awesome.
Great video. Some, almost unbelievable, and very inspiring.
Floria donne tout ce qu'elle a mais malheureusement, ça ne sera pas suffisant. Elle revient fort… Alors… peut-être! Je pense que ça va être juste. Elle revient, elle va passer! Encore encore encore! Ouuuaaaahhhhh!!! C'est monstrueux!
This was my all time best performance ever. I can not stop watching anazing race.
Astonishing, brilliant, inspiring beyond belief!
Evelyn Ashford. Many hats off to you. All time legend.
I will forever respect Evelyn Ashford far more than the runner who handed her the baton.
WOW!!!! This is a great Video. Thank you for posting it.
Finally, the last one is AMAZING & AWESOME wow!!!!!!
Yep - it's Evelyn Ashford for me too! I always thought of her as "The Natural".
Thank you, you should do more of these races and let us watch, enjoy them all.
Brilliant! This is the human spirit. This is greatness.
Dave Wottle of the U.S., 1972 olympic 800 meters easily deserves to be on this list. Truly amazing comeback.
Fantastic !!! This is true spirit, this is Sport !
Lasse Viréns fall and comeback on 10 000 m in the 1972 Olympics really needs to be on a list like this.
Only reason I clicked the link to begin with. :D Nope, not in there.
You have never saw run Henry Rono
@@pmue437 Ok? Does that matter? Lasse should still be on the list.
The Greatest comeback ever and he broke the world record
Yup. Thumbs down from me. Greatest one in the 70’
Love it! An idea you should show the review of it like the finishing at the line to see how close
Good idea!
@@MisterFilOfficial phenomenal video, thanks
Lasse Virén 1972 5000m. I was named after him because of the run.
I remember in the 1976 Olympics in the marathon Frank Shorter feared him the most.
That indoor WR run was insane!
I remember Ereng. He was always chilling at the back, than got into improbable gear and blasted past everyone.
My God I can feel the tense just from the caster hyping it up 🤣😂
Italy's 4x100 in Tokyo deserves to make the list. Tortu's last 100m were out of this world.
Seb Coe WR going to ereng was incredible, made more special by the great Ron Pickering , brilliant vocals.
Alberto Cova - Helsinki 1983. One of my favourite comebacks.
Yes! He jumped from 5th to 1st in like 5 seconds.
It's called good old blood doping. Everyone did it back in the day.
Hard work n dedication
That powerful burst of pace in the final lap by Ereng as the presumably British commentator keeps chanting out Barbosa's name.
Aufstehen und weitermachen 💪 Was für eine Leistung!
I'm so inspired by your content! 🙏
Goosebumps on the French commentary
I can translate it for you if you want
Thanks for this video●
Watching Evelyn dust the GDR science projects is still very satisfying all these years later
The Greatest of all time Evelyn
It just put the biggest smile on my face to watch her run 😂 😂
and after a terrible hand off. Evelyn a bit too slow out, but obviously made up for it.
@@williamtaylor1559 OooOooo...
so if Ashford is beating the doped up Eastern bloc Marlese Goer what does that tell you? You think that the US athletes were running on kool aid and oranges? Don't be so naive!
Have to add to these the two sensational battles between Colette Besson and Lilian Board in the late sixties. Besson came from far behind to snatch a last-gasp 400m gold at the Mexico Olympics, while Board reeled in a seemingly impossible deficit to take the 4x400m title for Britain the following year at the European champs.
The fury of Evelyn Ashford pounding rubber at 3:42 is incredible to behold
Floria Guei, it was sooooo impressive !
did you hear the entire stadium delirious when Floria Guei cross the line first ? literaly a shouting explosion that's chilling me entirely. !
That Evelyn Ashford win is even more spectacular when you consider that this was during the time that the East German women's team were so hopped up on PED's that they had to wear athletic supporters.
That was breathtaking to watch
Come from behind wins are always exciting. Horse-wise, it’s kind of like when Mine That Bird won the 2009 Kentucky Derby.
Great motion video Tq boss
They are some great finishes in that video. Just running on total guts!!!
Sounds slippery, but slow.
Thank you for the videos I love running 🏃♀️ when I was 61 I run the 100m in the senior Olimpics in my hometown in Mexico my time 11 mnts 🤷🏻♀️😊
Its a pleasure 😊 Wish you all the best for the next senior olympics 💪😊
11 minutes ?
@@harrycurrie9664 No no sorry 11sec 😁🙏n31sec in 200m💖
@@nanaalcantar9431 Wow, was going to say 11 minutes would be as fast as my mobility scooter with a flat battery. 😁
Billy Mills, best comeback ever, hands down the most historical comeback, all others fall short of the finish line
Obea Moore - the hardest sprint - 400 meters. Incredible come back.
Keep in mind he was pushed out when passing on the final curve. I'm happy to have his autograph on a "Running Brave" CD. Will never sell it. Unless Billy Mills wants it back.
I love how classy Ashford was in victory. Just quietly handed the baton to the official.
What? Rather than go Bruce Lee all over him with it?
David was in love with Victoria after that stumble, at the last water jump! Happy Ever Laughter!
The Juantorena comeback in a 4x400 and the Wottle comeback are, by far, the most ridiculous ones ever. Can't believe those were not included.
goosebumps!
awesome video!!
I love this stuff
Never give up awesome video 🤙🤙
Athletes are so inspiring because it's a sport that takes all your mental, physical strength, your ALL, mind body and spirit to win or finish the race, it's how life is. So, to watch them conquer each step, running towards the finish line, passing everyone else when we( spectators) had no hope for them is truly AWESOME! PAUL ERENG was LEGEND!!!
My life needs this
I'm an Evelyn Ashford fan way back in high school. She was a running champion even then LOL.
I love how Evelyn Ashford breezed into the finish line. Amazing!
She was flying. Just made it look easy because her face remains so relaxed.
The 4 x 100 relay can be the most exciting race of all.
Spacetime at the end of a 400m race is one hell of a thing.
Always loved the way Ashford ran ..like someone stole something from her
No matter how many times I watch Ashford in this race...it's STUNNING!
From Kenya,so proud
I'm missing world championship 1997, women's 4x400 relay. Grit Breuer's wonderful finish.
The ones with the passionate commentators are the best.
Excellent!!!
I love the leans at the end
don't know about you, guys, but these phoenixes... damn, something got into my eyes!
A couple from the Commonwealth Games: Andrew Lloyd, men's 5000m in 1990 and Rob De Castella, 1982 men's Marathon.
Even the ones in a different language I can still feel the energy
Evelyn Ashford, what a beauty in every way. : )
Floria Guey , best of all times
You're right,absolutely,what a race!!
Everlyn Ashford - what a legend.
It looks like she still had a lot left in her tank.
@Phoenix 𝙾𝚙𝚎𝚗 𝙼𝚢 PROFILE I can understand that being your favourite Olympic moment. Even as an Australian (swimmer) I love watching this finish by Everlyn. (Of course my favourite Olympic moments are the 2000 Mens Freestyle relay, and Cate Campbell's final leg in the 2020/1 Medley relay). But again, this finish by Everlyn is superb. Love it.
Nice!
It's amazing when they stop running that there not even breathing hard amazing!
It's amazing how you can't tell they're from there.
Yup it's unbelievable 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
that splash of water gave her energy
I remember Jarmila Kratochvilova in WCH Helsinky 1983 4x400. Although she finished second with 47.7s. It was unbelieveble. 20m longer distance she would finished first.
gosh i miss my running days. its tough getting old
You are never too old to go out and run :)
That USA women’s 4X100 was whew! Evelyn Ashford saved everyone
💙 great Video 💜
Thanks 💚
Evelyn Ashford was always a thrill to watch.
She was so graceful. That confrontation with Marlies Gohr was something else.
Evelyn that lady for the US anchor everytime i see that race i get goosies what a race was that and in my opinion under rated and under appreciated what a race and what a comeback very humble soul
Nice video I just subbed bro
everyone enjoying these comebacks must watch "Heather Dormiden inspiring 600 mts race"
