Freddy finds a Nissan Maxima that's more furious than fast, Ed snags a Audi S4 that doubles as an ant farm, and Tyler brings a Mercedes-Benz 300TD, a car that was famous for getting to 60 mph in nearly 20 seconds. The more I watch, the more I like Tyler's car. Probably not the coolest thing to drive in the late 90's/early 2000's, but what an awesome car to have to carry a bunch of cargo and do it in style and luxury... back in the 80's. Seriously though, that wagon ass has a ton of room and I'm digging it.

Pretty nice first cars! Mine was not comparable at all. I pulled a 1982 Scirroco out of my neighbours yard for $200. Engine has blown frost seals (due to engine being filled with water instead of antifreeze). Put in new frost seals...slapped on some breaks..and a set of mini light mags...and drove it for 2 years like it was stolen! Great content guys!

I own one of these, non wagon sadly and I am here to confirm that is just how w123s are if there's a vacuum leak. And even besides that you'll be under that hood most days for who knows what. But nonetheless it will refuse to die. Love it.
I had one of those but non turbo. And i had it happen 2 timed in severe heat, that it would not turn off when i already had taken out the key. I locked the car, and grabbed the roof railing and shook the car a bit. Worked both times. 😁
@@nirfz that's typical for the old Mercedes Diesels. Never leave the gear in when you drive it as manual! It would run back to germany if it wouldn't get stopped by something. But they were great as driving school cars because you simply couldn't choke them off

This episode has me intrigued so I looked up my first car. In 1999 I bought a 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme with a v8 engine from my aunt for $400. I found two of these cars on Craigslist in my area. One, which is rotted out and generally a POS is selling for $8k. The other, which is in decent shape with a v6 is selling for $18k. What is happening!?!

In the W123s defense, you can order most of the parts online, and they are ussually on the cheap side, I for example did my fuel filters on my 240D about a month ago and both cost me like 12 bucks

Still driving my Max, 1996 White on Beige. 216,000 original miles. Was purchased back in '96 by my girlfriend's dad Ichibei, first thing he did was slap some enkei rs6's on it which are still on there to this day. It was the GXE, entry level automatic, but with the GLE package with the power seats and what not. He eventually gave it to my girlfriend when she started college in 2004, it became her first car, and only car all the way up until 2020, when she finally parted ways with it and got a new Honda, giving me the Maxima. I've been wrenching on it for the past two years now fixing the suspension and other worn out components, replaced the valve cover gaskets, radiator and thermostat, nearly every hose, essentially every vacuum line. Plenty of other smaller repairs and honestly learned a lot about cars along the way. Great car, the 4th gen is basically indestructible. Most of the examples I see at the Pick-n-Pull have over 300k miles on them.

I'm a Retired Pro Audi Wrench, the S4's and Allroad's especially with the 2.7 Bi-Turbos kept me gainfully employed for many years. I was surprised that it wasn't mentioned that the Engine required removal to replace the Turbo's, I found it best to drop the Engine, Transmission with the Front Suspension onto a bench as a complete unit to replace the Turbochargers. Often the Turbo Shaft would Break and fill the Exhaust System with Oil and would require a lot of Road Testing afterwards to eliminate the Smoking. Randy AKA randog311

I drove a $500 '83 300SD for seven slow but relatively trouble free years. Damn things are just Sherman tanks with leather seats. The trans finally shat its pump one fine day but still got me home. Sold it to a guy who threw the engine in a 4-Runner and as far as I know she's still ripping around. Best beater I ever had. Hands down.

cool, nice to see a Maxima getting some love. I've had my white 2002 SE since 2012 and I have no plans getting rid of it. it now has a 2014 Maxima engine and runs like a champ..
