That's why I'm here lol
@@kadenwatt2033 Same
lol
That’s gonna be right up there with “Hey Brad’s score is still on there”
Alex saying "all good things must come to an end" 😭
I remember an interview with Nancy Zerg where she said it wasn't till hours later after she defeated Ken when she realized she also won $14k.
14k ain't much when the guy next to you goes home with 2mill
@@mrgoober8805 She was David, and Ken was Goliath.
@@ABCEasyas-- Exactly and history repeats itself in Jeopardy! When a woman defeats a long-reigning champion. In this case, Roger Craig was defeated by Jelisa Castrodale in 2010. I have seen many Jeopardy champions on TV between 2005-2012 including Tom Kavanaugh (not the actor) and my namesake Kevin Marshall
@@alster724 And then history repeats itself 9 years later.... Emma Boetcher defeats James Holzhauer. But he redeemed himself in the following season's TOC.
I thought nancy was hot!!!
You will be greatly Missed Alex. Rest Easy our friend.
Who is the greatest Jeopardy host of all time?
:(
It’s good to hear that Ken Jennings is going to host to replace him. Alex will be very happy to keep the game show alive
November 2004 from jeopardy
Yes he will. This and WOF by far the only 2 game shows where the Host have never changed, even The Price Is Right show Drew Carey only started hosting that show in 2007. Anyhoo I don't think anybody can ever replace Alex. He is irreplaceable
Came here after Ken got trolled by a contestant who put H&R Block as his response....he wasn't correct
Same here. Lol
Same
Yeah brother!
that was epic trolling lmao
Now i know ..
And to think Ken Jennings is being eyed for being the next host... gives me happiness...
Ken Jennings is probably being given a 'dry run' by being involved in some of the categories, he's definitely the lead candidate to replace the legendary Alex Trebek, although it'll be big shoes to fill, but I think Ken Jennings should just focus( if he's chosen )on carving his own path instead of trying to fill Alex Trebek's shoes.
I totally would hope that would happen. He’s probably the next best choice and would be phenomenal at it. Though nobody could ever replace Alex.
Ive heard some of the names floated online.. to me there is no choice but Jennings
@Rabbi Shekelwitz he's a guest host..
He’ll probably get it. But he is an enormously rude and arrogant A-hole on Twitter and in real life. Does not hold a candle to Alex’s poise and class.
I was moved when Alex said to Ken "congratulations young man" now this young man is paying tribute to him.
not so young anymore! He was 29 when he was first on there, now he's 47.
Ken confirmed that he lost fair and square, he didn't even think about h&r block at the time, he didn't throw the game because he was bored or what others accused him
People accused James of throwing it too. Fandoms of these Jeopardy contestants just don't seem to understand how the game works and that sometimes circumstances can arise that can stumble even the very best players.
@@NickTheEnlightened yeah but i read an article ken wanted to enjoy the 15 minutes of fame and james is a gambler big, so james gassed in a fraction of the time, besides who want to listen to james drone on. i could listen to ken all day. and jeopardy jason after james run was good also
Same with James Holzhauer.
Not those people up there under the lights on stage!
I think he threw it. Cmon, he knows fed ex doesnt only work 4 months a year and their employees aren't " white collar".
The reason Ken was brought out the next day to be honored by Alex and the audience one last time (and not James) is because James' run lasted a mere 32 while Ken's lasted an astounding 74.
@@mbdg6810 I seriously doubt that. If James had won the tournament, Alex would have handed him the trophy, said his piece and got a standing ovation from the audience that sounded like it was 50% pro-Ken, 30% James and 20% Brad. There would have been no need for a second go-around.
Ken, you didn't read the clue carefully! Fedex SEASONAL employees are delivery & warehouse, blue collar staff, NOT "white collar" as was stated in the clue! Oops!
“a mere 32”
“Mere 32” 32 is not mere lmao
Keep in mind also the way the show is filmed him coming out happened in real time about 15 minutes later.
Nancy has the best ice breaker of all time. She beat Ken Jennings at Jeopardy, it's like beating Hercules at lifting lmao
or Samson after his hair was cut.
Not really. She only won the one game.
Too bad she lost the following day.
I heard that people wait years to get their chance to be on jeopardy, I guess her happiness to be on jeopardy was overshadowed by the fact that she knew she was going to be against Ken Jennings... she had no idea how this would turn out.
Ken Jennings is such a gentleman. Always humble and kind.
@@crown_howitflashesso7697 he didnt
Exactly
Ken has confirmed multiple times that H&R Block never crossed his mind.
I wonder how did Ken feel when Alex told Nancy "you're right" ... but he had to hide his feelings.
Came here after H&R Block quesiton on final jeopardy 1/19/2021
Yeah lol
A very sad day with the passing of the great Alex Trebek. I grew up with him on TV every week night after supper and I was very saddened along with all of you. He did state that Jeopardy must go on. Just look at the professionalism of these men. Ken Jennings was so gracious in defeat that he was the first to congratulate that lady and the smile never came off his face. A Jeopardy contestant legend and when Jeopardy does continue I believe Ken Jennings will be fitting of being the new host of Jeopardy. He will be in no way Alex Trebek but he will give it his all. Rest In Peace Alex Trebek. We love and will never forget you. Continued success Ken Jennings.
If anyone is to host Jeopardy other than Alex, it should be Ken. I think he would be a very good host.
I think it should be Pat Sajak.
@@jasonarokiaraj9817 no lmao
@@jasonarokiaraj9817 he can’t do two shows
@@jasonarokiaraj9817 wtf, never in a million years lmao
He is now
You can just. Man. You can see the respect Alex has for Ken just oozing out of him. Such a touching moment when they chat. Alex Trebek is the biggest Jeopardy fan of all time. His life was Jeopardy that's what he did. He speaks about Ken like Michael Jordan. You can see his like, Alex wants people to recognize Ken as something more than he is. He knows this is The. Best. Jeopardy. Player. Ever. Bar none. Ken loves gameshows too, it's like a match made in heaven. So amazing.
H&R Block the company that will haunt Ken's dreams for all eternity.
Not really. Ken said in a later interview that, if he had a choice, this was the perfect question to lose on, because as soon as this episode aired, he landed advertising offers from both H&R Block and FedEx.
Ironically, they probably do is tax returns.
He gets his taxes done elsewhere now...
I guessed the IRS! But, they're federal, so I guess full-time workers
And then H&R Block used IBM Watson for tax analysis!
I believe Ken was ready to go home. 😁😁 Without a dobut the GREATEST JEOPARDY PLAYER EVER !!!!! And a gracious sweetheart of a guy to boot.
Who’s here because of today’s episode?
Me lol! The troll! 😂
Also, go huskies!
Me
Yes. I said to my wife, "That was Ken's final question". Then I wanted to know the wording of the answer.
In memory of Alex Trebek 1940-2020, the wizard of Jeopardy! for 37 Seasons.
I remember watching all the Ken Jennings episodes when I was younger, especially the day his streak ended. The man was and still is a living legend.
I have been a Jeopardy fan since the mid-60's and got hooked when Alex Trebek began hosting this version. I guess I'm a Trebekie. However, I am also a Ken Jenning's fan. In the movie Moonlight & Mistletoe there is a character at the end of the film named "Mr. Jennings" and he sounds like/looks like Ken Jennings!! So, I can see him when this Christmas movie comes on.
"All good things have to come to an end" Well said! R.I.P. Alex Trebek
Love the comment, and your name is awesome.
I remember watching the moment Ken lost to Nancy in 2004! Feels like it was just yesterday! Rest in Peace, Alex! May you Rest in Peace!
I cried when I heard of Alex's passing. Rest in Peace. I hope your the host of jeopardy in heaven playing with the angels.
It's amazing how Ken Jennings went from a contestant to stepping up to host the game itself.
Today's the 16th anniversary of the streak coming to an end. I remember watching him during the latter parts of the streak back when I was 12.
Was just telling my fiancé And son I remember this ken Jennings pop culture run when I was in grade school as a kid. Life flies man.
I swear she says to him "I'm sorry" 0:44
She does
Alex when you said all good things have you come to an end I hoped you were the exception. RIP
“All good things have to come to an end” c’mon Alex why’d you have to do that to us 😭😭😭
Seriously going to miss you Alex. You’re one of the celebrities who has been a wonderful influence to so many including me. We’re certainly going to miss you my friend.❤️
And years later, Alex is still right. Also, who would have thought 16 years later Ken would prove himself *again* and actually join the production team‽
Wait WHAT!
Yes and no. Ken has the longest game winning streak, but Brad Rutter has the most money.
And now he is the host...
The crowd gasping really got me
I love the respect Nancy and Ken showed each other! So beautiful to see!
Ken Jennings is the G.O.A.T.
Aa
Wrong.....ALEX is the G.O.A.T!
Alex is the G.H.O.S.T.
I’ll never forget when this happened. I always watched Jeopardy! with my Granny when I was growing up and we became huge fans of Ken. Even on days that I couldn’t go to her house to watch it, we would sometimes talk on the phone during the show or right after it would end to talk about his streak. We watched practically every one of his episodes together in some form. On the day that he lost, I had just gotten out of school and was watching it at my Mom’s house. As soon as it was revealed that he had lost, my Granny called me and we were both in absolute shock. We couldn’t believe it. Ken had become like a hero to me so I even cried a little bit. Even as I got older I would still go to my Granny’s house to watch Jeopardy! as often as I could and she would always say that she wanted me to try and audition for the show. She passed away in October of 2016 and one of the last things we did together was watch Jeopardy! a few days before she passed. This show will always hold a special place in my heart and Ken’s run will always bring back great memories of spending time with my Granny. Now that Alex is gone too, it feels especially painful. I will always be thankful for this show and for Alex for giving me years of great memories of bonding with her. Maybe one day I will make it on the show just like my Granny always wanted so I can honor her memory. Even if I don’t, thank you Alex and Jeopardy! for all of the memories. The producers will never know how much of an impact their 30 minute long program has had on my life. RIP Granny and Alex.
Ken Jennings' first episode as host will air next Monday night.
Lmao Ken got a Vietnam Flashback on Jan 19 2021
74 game win streak is beyond incredible..it will never be broken.
I'm super excited to watch Ken Jennings hosting Jeopardy! He's been game show icon since 2004.
Ken Jennings now hosting Jeopardy RIP Alex Trebek
Ken really got to know Alex as a friend during this time. I’m very jealous.
And now Ken Jennings is the new host
I can't believe this was over 16 years ago. I watched a good chunk of Ken Jennings's streak with my great-grandma back in the day. She loved watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. RIP to my gma and Alex T; I hope she finally got to meet him in the afterlife.
I saw this episode on TV when I was 10 years old back in 2004. I've never, ever forgotten the name H&R Block since.
Oh my god her reaction and the crowd’s reaction; gets me every time 😂
Ken Jennings for Permanent Host!!!
I read he does not want to be the permanent host
Alex's tweak at the end about Ken adding another whopping 2k to his total of $2.5 million for finishing second the day before was priceless.
I remember this. RIP Alex. You’ll be missed ❤️.
In between those 2 shows, I taped the 11:00 news and “Nightline” since they both involved “Jeopardy!” on KABC.
Now Ken Is guest hosting. We love you Alex
My all-time favorite tribute to Alex Trebek and also my all-time favorite moment on Jeopardy. Aside from that he was a good person and a wonderful game show host. We've known and watched him for a long time. He got promoted and enjoying his reward and Future episodes of Jeopardy wouldn't be the same without him. Rest in peace Alex Trebek.
I appreciate that the director allowed Nancy to have her champion's shot with her money total chyron solo! Saw what was happening and decided to wait for Ken to show good sportsmanship, then allowed Nancy to have her solo moment in the sun. Good on them!
I was a two-time champion on a quiz show back in the 70's. Most people have no idea how quickly the pressure builds. I can hardly imagine what it must have been like for Jennings. This is the first time I've seen this clip and I immediately said H & R Block. To me it seems easy: four months was the big clue. People do not send Christmas presents via Fed Ex in September, but they do start filling out tax forms in December, if they are lucky enough to get their W-2's quickly. (Say they get their last salary on 12/15.) I'm not gloating. I made an equally avoidable mistake on the final question in my third game and the audience in the theater gasped, assuming I would get it because most of them had, and I had breezed through my first two games. They didn't know what I knew. From the testing sessions and the early morning practice, I knew Sascha (I will never forget that name) was going to be my most formidable opponent of the ten potential opponents for that day's tapings, and he was. I was nervous even as the game started. Still, it came down to the final question. The category was Tales of the Sea. Art James practically read a whole Cliffs Notes summarizing a plot and then asked what book the plot he had read referred to. Just like with Mr. Jennings, I was fixated on the wrong thing, Herman Melville. The book he had summarized was _Lord Jim_ . I will never ever forget _Lord Jim_ . I had already won $1500 (the equivalent of about $9000 today) and I got a vacuum cleaner for my mother as a parting gift, so I can hardly complain. Jeopardy has much more pressure because speed is as much of the essence as knowledge. The multi-week consecutive champions are amazing, none more so than Ken Jennings.
I need to know now, what was the game? One of those revivals of 21? I'll admit I'm not too up on what Art James hosted.
You can see Ken's hand and him shifting when he says "you're right" to H&R Block, Ken knowing it's over before everyone else
0:34 the moment of TRUTH
I had the pleasure of watching this episode at home and had the pleasure of watching jeopardy james run!!! Love this show!!!
And that's what it took to defeat the GOAT: Two DD and one FJ miss. Say what you will about Nancy Zerg, but you cannot deny that what she did was historic and the fact that she even managed to create a non-runaway for Ken is impressive in and of itself, as only like 8 or 9 other contestants in his run managed to do that!
@@chrisfinch8637 Indeed.
Damn, first H&R ends Ken's streak, then they take $1 million for taxes...you a savage H&R 😭😭😭
Love you Alex “♥️” Rest In Peace 🙏
This gives me chills down my spine as this changed history.
A episode that will live in television and game show history for ages.
Wow, that is an incredible and profitable run. Great work, Ken!
Ken was honestly so humble. Took the L like a real champ
I remember this!!
Still an incredible streak, I remember how amazing it was to watch Ken over those months.
While Alex can never be replaced, I can't think if a more worthy replacement!
0:38 The best response anyone has EVER had to losing. :)
Rest in peace Alex. You'll be forever missed.
Both Alex and Ken...smart, fun, decent men and so enjoyable to watch. I really hope Jennings ends up being new host.
Ken is such a great guy.
Wow you can just hear the surprise of the crowd, that’s pretty cool
Ken is just like I can finally go home
0:58 her smile makes me melt. Pure joy.
This man deserves to be guest host. This is most honorable to Alex.
Alex Trebek was the greatest host of all time he will deeply and greatly missed by all of us who are here from around the world. God Bless you! R.I.P
Ken is like "finally I get my money"
I remember watching this the night it aired.
In a later interview, Ken said that it was the perfect Final Jeopardy question to lose on, because as soon as the episode aired, he got advertising offers from both H&R Block and FedEx. He said that, had he gone out on a clue where the response was "what is Kazakhstan," he wouldn't have been so fortunate.
0:35 - Slaps the counter. (Ken: It's all over!)
Chris Finch And that one was louder 😜
I like how ken pointed over to his greatest of all time trophy.
That truly was an epic run. James string of games was incredible too. But the 74 game streak will never be broken
All good things must come to an end...unfortunately. RIP Alex.
LONG LIVE JEOPARDY!
You where a dad to me thank you alex 😢
Alex Trebek looks like he was about to cry right here.
This stuff makes me cry

HE is going to be
They need to bring Ken Jennings back to host Jeopardy who cares what he said on Twitter years ago, worry about right now!!
Wait, what did he say on twitter?🤣
@@JacobHayden911 I don't want to repeat it, you can just look it up, I don't think we should worry about it, worry about right now. He should be the permanent host of Jeopardy. He is actually coming back I believe in November until the end of December so at least he's coming back temporarily but I wish he was permanent.
I'm still stunned Jennings missed this one. Maybe it's my accounting background, but I correctly guessed this one while watching live. It was pretty rare that I got a question that Jennings didn't.
Had to come back to this after Ken got trolled today 😂 would love to see him become the permanent host.
A couple things stand out to me about this moment. The first one is Ken's facial expression, and the way it says, "...it had to end sometime." The other is how Ken went to congratulate her before Alex had even finished speaking, and also how he quickly cleared the dais so she could have her moment as "The Giant Killer", as Alex called her.
it happened Tuesday November 30, 2004, 16 years ago tonight, it's Monday 11-30-2020.
It’s been a challenging year, and losing Alex is just another blow to many Americans. I would think Ken Jennings would be an excellent replacement for Alex. Kind player, compassion and engaged. My vote is for Ken Jennings.
Ken Jennings was the reason i kept watching as a kid. I remember that November 30 2004 I think it was that date. I was 10 years old and I love that dude I wish I knew all the answers lol Alex Trebek was a great host growing up.
I was 12 at the time and I watched Ken too. You're right about the date of the streak ending.
Has anyone yet beat Ken Jennings' record? Also RIP to the amazing Alex Trebek you were truly one of a kind and you will be missed!!
He's still undefeated at 2.5 million in 75 shows. James Holzhauer is 2nd with 2.4 million in 33 shows.
Money wise, maybe? Definitely not streak, the closest win streak is James Holzhauer and his streak wasn’t even half as long as Ken’s
Tonight’s episode was pretty good.
Jmyes . Ken's doing a great job!
Ken is the GOAT of GOATS!
"Firm's" and "white-collar" seemed to be a dead giveaway. I was always surprised this is the "answer" he missed. Easy to say from behind a keyboard, but I have never forgotten about this one...
