    • When he arrived and destroyed Tie Domi it pretty much ended Domi as a fighter and turned the battle of Ontario in Ottawa's favour. If memory serves Ottawa won 6-1 that night.

    • McGrattan was always a beast. I’m a Rangers fan, and he always had great tilts with Colton Orr when he was in NY. But, I have to say, I think McGrattan was a bit sloppier in his earlier years in Ottawa. He turned into a nearly invincible wrecking ball in his later years in Calgary. I think the confidence he had in his sobriety played a big role.

  • People forget how many fights McGrattan had in AHL. I believe it’s a record… or penalty minutes? In AHL. Either way, Reaves only added to his concussion issues…McGrattan has dished out his fair share!!

  • Nobody said he won that fight. Caught a huge L. Cutting someone around the brow who fights all the time is NBD. All the scar tissue there makes cuts easy. He was never on Big Ern's level. Not for one day.

    • That’s absolutely not true. He got relegated to a role player but in 2014-15 he was playing up in the blues lineup and creating some offense. Dude has way more skill than the old school enforcers of the past. Guy has earned a career in the NHL no doubt besides being a tough guy.

  • Reaves' first 3 seasons or so were really fun to watch. There were still about 20 or so heavyweight enforcers in the league and Reaves held his own with most of them.

That was his only way to stay in the NHL. Not being able to find a willing combatant was his much bigger problem. But who exactly did he duck, and do you have any video evidence of it?

    • George Laraque was a very unique tough guy. He had size and he was extremely strong. It was very hard to muscle him around. He could throw around big guys because of his strength. I’ve never seen him actually lose a fight. What gave him another advantage over other tough guys, is that he was left handed, so he caught lots of tough guys off guard.
