    • Honestly Iron Man 1, Spider-man 2, Logan and Joker are much better than The Dark Knight. Nolan better make character driven films like Prestige with emotional connection again instead of making one-dimensional character plot driven films with plot holes.

  • Joker noticed that the last time he mentioned Gambol's grandmother, Gambol was very angry. He could tell that Gambol cared about his family, or maybe had a chip on his shoulder about it(insert potentially insensitive "black people no father" joke). So, when he meets Gambol again, he tells a backstory that is a corrupted version of "family". Later, Joker knew from the start that Harvey had a romantic partner. He knew that Rachel and Harvey were in love. So, he tells Rachel a backstory that is a corrupted version of "love". I wonder what backstory he was going to tell Batman.

  • 0:27 in a way I respect Gambol for this bit. He doesn’t double cross the apparent murderers, rather keeps his word and offers them the $500000 reward he promised. This ties in with the mob bank manager saying “criminals in this town used to believe in things. Honour, respect.” Gambol is an example of that.

    @ShaunakDesaiPiano@ShaunakDesaiPiano Жыл бұрын
    • Yes but people like Gambol don't honor their word out of the goodness of their heart. In the criminal world news travels quickly and if you're the boss of an organization who's known for offering jobs then refusing to pay, or even worse killing the people hired to do the job? Good luck getting anyone to take your jobs the next time you try to hire anyone, people don't like to work for guys who are known for scamming their workers. Honesty and keeping to your word (at least in a public situation like this, backstabbing happens all the time when they can get away with it) is the cost of doing business in that world.

His father didn't actually do it, but it left a scar for him mentally. And when his wife got scars all over her face, it gave him the idea to carve a smile on his own face since his wife kept telling him that he needed to smile more. • What the Joker has is a talent for HUMINT (some have suggested that the character's backstory included time in the military). Just the mob boss meeting scene tells us a lot. First, apparently he had sussed out in advance where the meeting was going to be and hid inside before anyone else got there because goons were screening everybody at the door. We know he was close enough to be able to hear them talk before revealing himself because when he said "And the suit? It wasn't cheap..." he was reacting to Maroni's earlier comment that the Joker was a "two-bit whack job - wears a cheap purple suit and makeup" and he heard the continued conversation or he wouldn't have been in a position to tell the group that Lau's ("the television's") plan would result in Lau squealing because Lau was vulnerable to being picked up by Batman even if he were in Hong Kong. The Joker knew who Gambol was on sight, and knew enough about his personality to successfully bait him into trying to have the Joker brought to him dead or alive (why bother seeking out Gambol to knock him off when Gambol wants the Joker to come to him?). It's just an example of the storycraft brought into this movie.

      @hubbsllc@hubbsllc7 ай бұрын
    • The Joker's unpredictability and lack of remorse also added to his terrifying nature. He was willing to do anything to achieve his goals, no matter how cruel or inhumane. His maniacal laughter and twisted sense of humor only heightened his villainy, creating a sense of unease and fear in those who crossed his path. Additionally, his complex relationship with Batman, who often struggled with his own moral code when facing the Joker, added to the sense of dread surrounding the character. Overall, the Joker's lack of boundaries and his willingness to push the limits of sanity and morality made him one of the most terrifying villains in comic book history.

So he picks at that and makes it into something terrifying to pull at his fears. The same with Rachel when he mentions him being in a couple etc. Secretly joker is very smart in how he talks. He understands interrogation and getting inside someones head (Batman). He can take your psyche and turn it on itself and thats what he tried to do to Gotham before Batman actually stopped him. But he did get Harvey to turn on himself and that in the end was all it took.

  • It's absolutely insane how effortless he makes this look. The voice, the accent, everything. He absolutely is the Joker and is a completely different person. In real life everyone who knew Heath would say he was one of the most gentle, kind people that they've ever met. I think we have gotten so used to knowing Heath Ledger as the Joker that we've forgotten he was also in Brokeback Mountain, A Knight's Tale and 10 Things I Hate About You. After watching these and then re-watching the Dark Knight (with the whole world doubting him at that point). You can see how phenomenal of an actor he is here proving us all wrong. The Joker is literally the complete opposite of Heath Ledger. Legendary performance.

He likes to play with people and it makes more sense that he would leave Gambol with scars. His "magic trick" with the pencil required quickly overpowering a much bigger opponent, and him quickly stabbing the two men on either side of him as he rose from the bag in this scene required real skill. That, with his ability to take a severe beating from the Batman and continue talking to him, is pretty formidable.
