I love how from beginning to end, in all three movies, Lucius never once refers to Bruce as Batman when they speak to one another. Compartmentalization with well-defined boundaries was how he balanced his dedication and commitment within Bruce's two worlds.
love your use of language here.
He calls him Mr. Wayne in the Arkham games too.
love how when Bruce says "Sonar like a..." and Lucius cuts him off and says submarine. He's dedicated to that compartmentalization
In the Nolan trilogy they make it clear that Batman is just a symbol, Bruce doesn't identify himself as Batman but rather he uses that persona to be incorruptible and invincible at the eyes of his enemies. He says that many times and also that he didn't want to be Batman forever since he wanted to have a life outside the cave with Rachel first and then is able to do that with Selina. Also if you notice unlike in many other superhero movies in the end credits there's no "Bruce Wayne/Batman" (no real identity slash secret identity) just "Bruce Wayne" when he's credited.
I just googled meaning of Compartmentalization.
The balls it took for Batman to pull that building dive off without critical injuries or death is mesmerizing.

I always love how bruce is about to say "like a bat" but gets cut off by Lucius saying "submarine".
*Battinson enters the chat*
OMG it always went over my head 😳
Lucius actually did correct him. A bat uses its ears, and can discern obstacles. Active sonar on a submarine goes through a computer and can give a 3D representation on a screen, turning the audio into a visual picture.
Maybe Bruce is actually trying to get Lucius Fox to say "bat" as a confirmation that he is so onboard the whole Batman thing But Lucius always maintains a professional/technical attitude as well as a careful plausible deniability Both characters are portrayed very well by Nolan
If I ever got that, I completely forgot it 🤣
I love how Christopher Nolan uses real life gadgets and equipments in Batman Trilogy.
The wire grapple system batman uses and the electrostatic glide cape are still sadly science fiction but feasible in the future, and the trilogy certainly had more real gadgets in it than any other to date and I too love them for this reason. The fighting is also far more real, people get tired and don't move around like a hamster on drugs but like proper cage fight / brawl style, i.e. as humans do. The trilogy is a masterpiece and I doubt I will see as good a batman film again in my lifetime.
In the arkham games he had much more gadgets

This is pure batman. He couldn't achieve this without the fighting skills, the expensive tech, and the meticulous planning skills.
C'mon what fighting skills
@@blackmantis3130 The gun disarming part. The rest are just brutal punches.
This Batman actually plans and attacks rather than punching without knowing anything.
@@sumitadas4582 Damn right.
@@sumitadas4582 but he fights like idiot though
"Where are the cops" "What the hell am I paying them for?" Dude an entire SWAT team was mobilized and up to your floor in like 1 minute.
1 minute too late
Billy Donovan The original Chinese line emphasized “Why aren’t they here already?!” after the “We’d paid them” part. “我们已经付给他们钱,他们怎么还不来?!”
the dialog in the trilogy is shit except for the first 1.5 movies
Right!
Ty Nao are you high? This triology is known for its dialogues
This is one of the Rare moment where Batman act like Mercenaries, no talk, no wages & no postponement, but That's what actually makes him scary, just doing his task & leave the crime scene like it's nothing, a Pure Perfection of 'Take what you can and Give Nothing Back' in any Action movies.
Nolan is the master of spectacular skyscraper shots.
3:40 Everytime this track starts kicking in, it always give me chills in my vein
Hans Zimmer ♥️
Tell me about it. And I love how it winds up from about 3:26... You can almost feel that something awesome is about to happen.
Same.
Same
Exactly!
I like how when Bruce puts on the costume, he becomes a completely different person, and no just some guy in a costume, these movies Nailed it!
bale himself said he wanted to be another creature in batsuit
he becomes a stumbling, shaky cam, CGI imbecile with a speech impediment
@@tynao2029 oh you again, yeesh, why are you here if you hate this trilogy that much?
@@le-blanc1440 just a troll like the others
Ty Nao cgi where exactly?
Watching this scene on a 12 story tall imax screen was one of the most memorable movie watching experiences I've ever had. No other movie has ever triggered a physical sense of being there like this scene
One of the most epic parts of Nolan's Batman
The sound when he glides is such a nice detail
True, but still too noisy - he needs to tighten up his trailing edges a bit.
Well the fluttering of his Cape makes those sounds and it's such an important detail instead of just using music background when in the air like some movies do. It was impressive.
Yes it sounds like the fluttering of actual bat wings!
Mr Gone too noisy for what?
@@christophercrawford2736 i think he means the character bruce could quiet down the flapping sound, idk though
Bruce: Sonar, just like a- Lucius: like a submarine This scene always made me laugh
I felt like an idiot when I originally saw this. I wanted to scream BAT... Thanks Lucius...
Lmao I was thinking BAT
I was thinking Dolphin lol
@@captaindeo Lmao
Oh Lucius, I'm a bat you silly fox!
I would pay full price to watch this in imax again 14 years later
There's something so satisfying about watching Batman in his preparation phase. From putting on the cowl to using his equipment on top of a huge building, everything here is awesome. When he takes a leap of faith from assassin's creed, it's the cherry on top.
Was that written like Bruce was going to say "Just like a bat?"
Love that detail every time I watch the movie
Yes, at least that's what was written in the script that you can read online.
Lucius Fox wanted to stop him from stating the obvious lol
Yes haha, he wanted to say bat.
Stellar Remnant yes haha, like “holy shit Mr Wayne don’t say that in public, submarine Mr Wayne, submarine”
Batman looks way more terrifying without his cape. But looks so badass while gliding with it too
This is one of my favorite scenes it shows how terrifying batman is when he doesn’t talk while fighting! Bale is the best live action 💪
That punch at 2:57 gets me every time, swats him away like a fly lmao
The punch sound effect also funny
He was like "move bitch, get out the way"
@@zmohammedac hahahahaha you just made my day man haha 😂 😂😂
I want to say that guard wasn't supposed to fall prematurely without being hit that last time with the gun that scene alone blows my mind like who fucked up here 🤔
"Sonar, just like a, uh..." "Submarine, mr. Wayne. Submarine." I never realized that line was Freeman's character subtly implying he still didn't want to have anything to do with Batman officially.
Omg, I didn't even think about that lol.
These batman movies will always be my favorites. Christian Bale was the best Batman up to date and it's not even close.
This scene is way ahead of future even in 2022
2:30 Can we all appreciate how Batman disappeared in a puff of smoke, paying homage to his ninja roots.
Cool....thnx for telling 🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇long live the bat
Ra's Al Ghul 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I don't think that's paying homage... That's like saying Logan Webb pays homage to his pitching coach every time he throws a slider... Or I pay homage to my parents every time I take a bite of food (since they taught me how to eat)... For that matter every time I take a step I'm paying homage to my folks for teaching me how to walk... C'mon dude...
Paying homage to Batman?? This is nothing new
so bad that this pretty move by Batman didn't work against Bane.
I still remember the news report about Batman going to film in HK. Nostalgia.
Sam Li Didn’t the locals give the crew a hard time? I read that the cinematographer was frustrated with a particular shot.
@@rubberducky4074 Don't know much about that. The only thing is the big sign on the news reports when I was still a kid.
Wew
Rubber Ducky are you perhaps confusing it with Transformers Age of Extinction? I remember watching this on the news as well and I don’t recall any unpleasantness
Nice
