Frustrations boiled to the surface during Toronto's Game 4 loss to Boston on Saturday. Auston Matthews, William Nylander and Mitch Marner exchanged words on the bench after a second-period shift didn't go their way. "We're not yelling at each other because we hate each other," Marner said. "We just want to all be on the same page."

Samsonov cannot be trusted. First goal, you could drive a Mac Truck through that 5 hole and his stick never seems to be plum on the ice. Marner is a cowardly little boy playing overwhelmed in a man's game determined to never go into the greasy areas of the ice so he doesn't get an ouchy. Keefe saying there's nothing wrong with the effort should be fired for that alone. Maybe if he scratched core 4 players when they deserve it his job would be safe.

Leafs had a real coach: Mike Babcock. He annoyed and embarrassed Mitch, so the management fired him and hired Keefe in his place. As you can see, Keefe does not annoy and embarrass Mitch. He's Mitch's kinda guy.

DETROIT and TEAM CANADA 😂😂 That Detroit team is probably the 2nd best team of all time - if anything he under achieved with them and wasted their prime years. They _definitely_ should have won more cups. And those two team Canada teams don’t even get me started; you could plop a bunch of toddlers behind the bench and they’d win gold. Dude is a joke and likely the luckiest coach in NHL history.

Hockey is not the MLSE's main concern. So long as fans fill out the ACC they will continue as they always do. Do not forget that what drives a team to move cities is lack of attendance. That is never going to be a problem with the Leafs.

Marchand knows he can get away with his dirty little stick tricks so it’s what he does to get the leafs off their game. Marchand needs to be bounced off the yellow paint and open ice like a beach ball with good clean hits. That will change the game big time. The referees need to treat Marchand like the rest of the players instead of giving him a pass. It’s bullsh!t what he gets away with.

say what you will about mike babcock. but he clearly recognized the problems that are now prevalent in mitch marner. he understood that marner approached hockey with a carefree attitude, and he attempted to instill a more disciplined approach from a young age. while babcock's methods were flawed, his insight back then revealed marner's shortcomings when it came to p-off intensity and determination. bottom line, men with mental toughness and heart, win cups. the maple leafs don't enough men of that ilk.

toronto kinda reminds me of the 2009-2017 capitals. they won the cup in 2018 the first year in nearly a decade where they had less talent and nobody thought they'd go far. they just played really well as a team that year. there was something special like a positivity or attiude that year among them and they had a bunch of humble grinder types of guys playing great. So i think team chemistry and energy / attitude is the most important thing. You need talent too but its a mix and you need a good group of guys that will grind well too

This is what happens when your core uses so much of the cap that they have to repackage sell trades of players well past their prime. Samsonov is more a back up at this point in his career . Taveres is a shadow of what he used to be . Marner is small , soft and lacks any life when it matters . Matthews could be put on a Milk jug the way he has disappeared. Nylander , like Marner or Matthews look great when it’s Oct , Nov .. but lack any serious competitive talent in the high pressure of the playoffs . This group is a microcosm of hockey stupidly in general… ppl scream for talent but lack understanding of true grit /character it takes to actually win in the playoffs. It’s like the def of insanity every year in Toronto …. Literally.

The 4th Line is one of the only lines that have been click and making an impact. So what does Keefe do? He breaks up that line by scratching Dewar and barely playing them. I'm surprised no one is talking about this. We need players that get into hard areas and do grind work. We need players like Kadri, Hyman who actually do this. Dewar was doing this. Knies too.
They keep “pushing each other” out of the first round.

very evident last year against Florida in the playoffs . Same issues again against Boston this year. When up against a physical team who plays good defense, forechecks well and battles along the boards for the puck. The leafs fluff four can't compete. Until the leafs build a team to compete against Florida or Boston, which should be their primary objective. They better move out of the Atlantic division, otherwise expect the same results next year
