In this video I'm building a custom sofa table / side table / hall table/ bookshelf piece. So it's a bunch of woodworking projects all rolled into one. Kinda. I guess this piece is pretty specific to my furniture needs, but I'm sure there are other people in similar situations, so hopefully this video can give those people some ideas that they can adapt to their needs/situation.

  • The author does like to kzhead.infoUgkxkNYRBJuiJ6EwD-tQSAlxg0eFKsnR2cgz from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.

  • Thanks for pulling back the curtain and showing some of struggles of assembling odd structures. The last half of the video had a very different feel from your usual style and helps us understand your process beyond story telling. It was nice to be along for the ride, not just a tour.

Hopefully the rest of us will feel better knowing that woodworking isn't just the look of the final piece, but the struggle to get to that point. Thanks!

    • And the knockdown joints could be connected to a straight scrap with joints to keep them aligned during assembly, serving the same role as the clamps. The same scrap could separately be used to align the mating set of shelves. This would allow assembly of units while on their sides, so you're not fighting gravity. And they'd still fit together.
