Leopard Catches Blind Buck that's Walking in Circles

After being left blind by a spitting cobra, this buck is entirely disoriented. Because it's blind, it walks around in circles and circles. A leopard happens to be nearby and in no time the leopard takes advantage.

Moses Bokaba, 31-year-old Investment Manager, captured this amazing footage and shared it with LatestSightings.com.
Moses recounts the gripping sequence of events that left him awestruck. As he entered the Kruger National Park, passing through the Paul Kruger gate he turned onto the S3 road. He headed for a spot that he knew all too well, the first riverbed crossing, a picturesque spot that was just so special, one can’t help but stop and take it in.
As Moses and his friends approached the riverbed, their attention was immediately drawn to a disoriented bushbuck. What made this sighting extraordinary was that the bushbuck appeared to be blinded in both eyes, likely due to a recent encounter with a predator. As they watched in amazement, the bushbuck stumbled into the riverbed, becoming the focal point of everyone’s attention.
Little did they know, a leopard was grooming itself in the distance under a tree within the same riverbed. The video footage Moses captured beautifully depicts what happened next, a moment of intense anticipation and excitement. The adrenaline levels in the car were soaring as they realized they were about to witness an enthralling wildlife interaction.
The footage reveals the leopard's stealthy approach as it locked onto the vulnerable bushbuck. The tension in the vehicle reached its peak as they watched this encounter unfold. As Moses described it, "it was a thrilling, intense, exciting, and anxious experience all at once."
The climax of this extraordinary encounter came when the leopard pounced, successfully securing its prey. Moses and his companions were left in awe as they watched the leopard carry its kill across the road, disappearing into the bush.
This sighting was as rare as they come, an experience that defied belief. It serves as a reminder that patience is key while exploring the wild, as anything can happen at any moment.
What adds to the intrigue of this story is the fact that Moses and his friends were the sole witnesses to this incredible event. It was an encounter with nature that they will treasure forever.
To add to the wonder of their safari, after the leopard's successful kill, they spotted another leopard just a short distance away, making this day in Kruger National Park an unforgettable adventure.

Same for the sound,if it heard anything it would have known which direction the sound was coming from and ran off the other way. • Spitting cobra kills prey by aiming for the eyes. The poison is highly irritating. The struck animal instinctively rubs its eyes. This works the poison into the bloodstream (look at the blood vessels in your own eyes) which kills the prey. A different method than injection. Some spitting cobras can spit venom up to more than a meter. Photographers shooting spitting cobras always wear protective glasses or goggles. I spoke with one who said that the only problem he had was having to repeatedly wipe venom off his camera lens since the cobra kept mistaking the lens for an eye. There is a highly dramatic description of what it feels like to be hit in the eyes with spitting cobra venom in the book "Bring 'em back Alive", by Frank Buck. Blindness after being hit can be temporary or permanent.

  • If not mistaken, the spitting cobra venom would have killed the buck over a longer period of time due to entering the body through its eyes as opposed to an injection bite and the leopard is likely doomed for eating the poisoned buck.
