Never Forget Vince Carter's BEST Season! 28ppg 6rpg 5apg In 2005 | GOAT SZN

The best Vince Carter 2004-2005 season highlights with the New Jersey Nets! Once the Raptors traded VC to New Jersey, he went crazy: 28ppg 6rb 5ast 46%FGS 43%3PT and leading the Nets from the bottom of the east to the Playoffs. The Nets were playing without Richard Jefferson for most of the season, so VC had to carry the whole load of the team, with the offense running through him. Most NBA Media Outlets and personalities omit the New Jersey chapter of VC's career, but for those of us who watched him from 2005-2009, we all know that New Jersey VC was the BEST VC.

  • You just don't see guys move with this much swag, confidence and finesse to their game anymore the way Vinsanity used to on a nightly basis. The cherry on top was that he was so fundamentally sound as well. Such a awesome player at his peak, his game would've been so much fun to watch in today's era, especially given the spacing and the league's desire for another Alpha to represent what basketball is at it's most enjoyable. What a player.

  • I’ve been telling people that Nets VC was PRIME VC! I’m a Knicks fan from Brooklyn but I moved to Jersey as a teen. And since the Knicks were garbage at the time I would often watch Nets games(and cuz Vince is one of my favorite players). When Vince got traded to NJ he was 27 and he may have been a lil less athletic and a lil less explosive than his Toronto version but this version of Vince was way more polished of a player. He still had enough athleticism and first step but he became a better shooter and passer as a Net and just an overall smarter player. Those first 2-3 years with the Nets were him at his peak. All they needed was a good low post scorer and they could have won a championship. They had the best wing/backcourt combo in the league with Kidd as the point and Vince and RJ on the wings. If you put that team in the league today they’d be a terror!

  • honestly I've always thought that VC for a brief stint, like 2002-04, leaving aside some injuries he had, didn't play the level he could. Essentially cause he wanted to be traded.

    • This is incorrect. VC has 22 years … I’ll say it again: twenty two years! Of showing what kind of player he is. He loves the game and always wants to play. The narrative that he “doesn’t want it” was made up by the media and disgruntled / jealous players. And don’t discount his injuries. They were major injuries. February 02 VC has a nasty knee injury. Rushed back to help his team. Injured it more. Shut down for the season. Rehabbed. Beginning of 03 season he injured it again. Out for a while. Was ridiculed by the media. His own fan base made fun of him for being “soft”. Came back, showed flashes. Injured his ankle. Rehabbed again. 04 he was mostly healthy. Had a couple of injuries. But for the most part he was out there but his team was trash. Some nights he was the ONLY player to score in double figures on his team. So the summer of 04, after the GM wasted their draft pick on a garbage player, he demanded a trade. He has a handful of good games in Nov and Dec 04. But the management was sick of VC. They took away his mom’s parking pass for home games. The media was roasting him nightly. And some nights he was benched the 4th quarter. Finally he was traded and got back to just hooping and for the first time in his career he had an all star caliber player alongside him in Kidd. And look what happened, he immediately had his best individual season. Those 2 years of injuries robbed VC of his athletic prime.

    • The NBA medias narrative post 2001 was 1) hes only a dunker 2) he should be compared to Kobe and Jordan and if he doesn’t live up to them, hes trash 3) he shouldn’t take jumpers 4) he’s always injured
