  • 太好了,謝謝您。雖然我年紀老些,卻我非常敬佩你德文的教學工夫。 During the last trip in Austria recently, I didnot experience the growth in german conversation as expected, very likely due to he fact that English was quite commonly used over there anyway. However the realiztion of rich learning experiences struck me head on much later that I found myself absorbing, understanding, or appreciating German lessons on a multi-dimentional level. In other word, I am not simply taking in that German lessons with a fixed objectives instead floating with it freely. Of course I am still raw at it, but I am now lot more relaxed and having fun while learning. As such, I see fruits of this trip.

  • Tolles Video. When I was living in Germany (I'm from the UK), I worked in a bilingual school and my colleagues and I would switch between German and English regularly. One colleague, when he was speaking to me in English, always said "it gives" and it took me ages to figure out what he meant but as I learnt German I realised that he was just translating directly - which we're all guilty of. Have you also done a video on "es sind"? That would be useful too. Dankeschön! :)

  • Thank you for the video! Im still a little confused. We use es gibt for the existence of the museum but then gibt es for the existence of the TV tower. And then gibt es for the questions. Why is it gibt es for the TV tower and not es gibt? Thank you

    @1ijak@1ijak11 ай бұрын
    • That is because of the difference in verb positioning in both sentences in order to keep the verb in 2nd position. In the first sentence about Museum, Es is the subject so gibt comes after that in the 2nd position. But the second sentence starts with In Berlin, which means that gibt has to come after that in the 2nd position so es comes after the verb in the 3rd position. If the sentence is written as "Es gibt einen Fernsehturm in Berlin", then the usage could be changed to Es gibt. Hope it clarifies :)

    • Es tut mir leid aber ich verstehe nicht. “In der Schweiz gibt es viele Berge”. “Gibt es in der Schweiz viele Berge?” Is it just the tone of voice that indicates the difference when speaking or is it the placement of “gibt es” in the sentence? 🙏

      @kennyborland4399@kennyborland439911 ай бұрын
    • @@kennyborland4399 The difference is in the verb positioning. In case of a Yes/No question, the verb will always be in the 1st position e.g. “Gibt es in der Schweiz viele Berge?” But in the case of a statement, the verb is in the 2nd position e.g. “In der Schweiz gibt es viele Berge”. In this statement, the words "In der Schweiz" is considered as the 1st position and therefore gibt comes after that in the 2nd position. Hope it clarifies :)
