As I grow old i'm getting far too soft. Hearing Joni Mitchell used to make me cry. Now, just thinking about her makes me cry.
I hear you. As a gruff, hairy geezer, I can't listen to her music when people are around. Wouldn't want them to see me weep at the beauty of it.
@@emdiar6588 Ha ha! I don't care. My son knows when I've just listened to Joni Mitchell 😉
When i put my buds at home they all know with who i am with ...joni I❤you forever and ever.

She sings better after a brain aneurysm and in a different vocal range than I ever have or ever will in my life. What a legend!
Joni gets her alto on. What a treat that was.
She sings Like a young girl. It's really a miracle!
@@danielansz I wouldn't say a young girl but rather a seasoned veteran who knows how to give a song just the right touch and manner of expression.
@@seamusin1697 It's just my opinion. 👌
One in classic folk format and the other in jazz. Such variability even now.
Joni is still KILLING IT at 79 years old. She is unbelievable!!!
No; she's not.
@@user-lh3si8sl8oDo you not have ear balls?
Brandi Carlisle is responsible for a lot of Joni’s resurgence and I believe her recovery. She has been there every step of the way to encourage and give her hope.
Agreed. Brandi is a treasure in her own right!
Cheers for Brandi.
Brandi is also partially responsible for Tanya Tuckers resurgence Brandi got a lot of good karma coming her way
Personally, I think she should take a step back now. Joni is strong and she has heaps of very solid friends in the industry. Seems to me Brandi Carlile is getting a bit too much of the limelight these days.
Brandi STEP DOWN
One of the Great artists of my lifetime. Poet. Painter. Musician. Social commentator. Performer. Like a fine wine 🍷, she has just gotten better and better with age.

Same 🙏❤
Damn ... she still has an amazing voice ... and can really own the stage.
Absolutely, and considering how ill she was a couple of years ago. Extraordinary really! Fantastic version of summertime
Joni sounds better. I’m thinking maybe she had to at the very least cut back on smoking.
@@TheBella2u rumor has it she kicked the habit 7 years ago at 73.....
Perfection
@@timfahey7127 that’s amazing. She smoked since her teens.
Who else besides me loves Joni's voice more from the time when her voice deepened and roughened to today? Love that moody, jazz sound!
Her smoking habit factors in as well ...
I do too!
Absolutely
Just beautiful.
Love both ..before and now
Loved her at age 14 and still love her at age 64. Timeless, elegant, always relevant
ats cool and all but she's 78

SAME!
Same.
@@steveeolio I think it was pretty obvious the person who made the comment was referring to their own age, not Joni's.
This was pure magic. Joni's very essence is infused with music, and her voice is timeless. The wave of love from the audience was palpable.
Brilliant audience creating a unique magical optimism taking you way back when.❤
What therapy this is the best kind
Her pitch and phrasing is still exceptional what an artist. God bless you Joni
What's so beautiful is all the shades she does with her voice at the end of each sentence. She keeps changing her phrasing on each line. This woman is such a treasure! And her charisma is undeniable.
Amazing performance and after 2 strokes!! I'm so glad she is still singing. Her voice is so unique. I remember hearing her sing as a teenager and marveling at how she easily hit the high notes going in and out of falsetto effortlessly!
Amazing simplicity and Clarity

She sounds so good. I know singing isn't her main art form these days, but, damn, she has a timeless voice. I love her freedom.
She has certainly begun to return to singing. She has a concert coming up in June. I hope there’s more on the way.
Epic performance. Thank you Brandie for bringing our Joni back to us just now. It’s everything. Blessing dear Joni.
Her story is amazing … starting with having polio as a kid and alone all day … never wanting to sing but just paint … however she got us boomers thru so many hard to describe things … foundation built in Laurel Canyon … only playing what she wanted to play … lived thru morgellians and then an anurism … and still standing singing for us all … stunning spirit ❤ thank you so much for all you have given us!
Thank for sharing...Never heard about her having had Polio.
Thank you for educating us on her past

Her rendition of "Summertime" is exceptional! Her voice is exquisite on it ... And her voice, in the beautiful way that it has aged like a fine wine, on her own 'The Circle Game" gives it a new dimension ... Beautiful!
I know a lot of people say older singers still sing great even when they don’t. This woman sounds GREAT! Such a rich, beautiful voice! Unmistakably Joni. ❤
Agree!
Joni Mitchell the original Banshee of the 20th century! Her voice reminds us of our conscience humanity and our planet Earth
She was so beyond everybody at one point that she still is great at a percentage of what she was.
Love Joni!!So good to see her❤
Love you Joni from qld Australia
She said she couldn’t sing again, but look at her now ❤❤❤
She was right even with auto tune it's horrible
@@mikedavis8008 and you're obviously deaf
@@mikedavis8008 You're ridiculous and have no heart or validity even.
@@mikedavis8008 Wtf?! She performs summertime better than most women do. Autotune is pretty obvious in the second song, but the first one is just wonderful. Especially with her history of sickness. Respect her way man.
Some people will find fault in anything one does. It's like running over a nail in your car, it's unavoidable. All one can do is avoid "the nails" and keep "driving". You are a survivor Joni, and I wish you many many years ahead.
This Summertime is beautiful and stands with any version ive ever heard.❤
The more life challenges us, changes us, the more we become truly our authentic selves. Joni Mitchell is a treasure, always. Much love and gratitude for decades of beautiful music.

How is it possible that her voice is as unbelievable as ever. She is amazing.
I agree!
They used autotune but still beautiful tone to her voice
@@achnix3167I used to be vehemently opposed to autotune in every case, but as I've gotten older, I've softened up a bit. Joni has absolutely nothing to prove at this point. Got no problem with her using it.
@@fl0nk11 i have no issue with it unless peoples are delusional about it. Or Playback use
@ach nix Are you sure its there? Im usually pretty perceptive of its use.
One of the greatest songwriters of my generation. Hard to believe she is still singing beautifully (albeit in a much lower register) after two strokes.
And cigarettes
It was an aneurysm in 2015. No strokes.
Those health issues don’t affect the vocal range.
You know, I always preferred Judy Collins to Joni because Joni's voice was sooooo high my ears couldn't stand it so I am in 7th heaven with her 'mature' voice!
I'm not sure 'one of' cuts it, as a songwriter I couldn't place anyone above Joni.
Hell of a piano player. Trumpet, guitar, all great players. Love you Joni Mitchell.
The woman thought she’d never sing again. Look at her now! She worked so hard for this.
She has never been better..........................Few can be this talented and incredible at this stage in their lives and survive a brain aneurysm.
God bless Joni Mitchell!

@@janawall3306 That's what you call a miracle Louise.......AMAZING!!!
It's great to see how much Joni and her voice have come back. She's leaps and bounds above where she was just last summer in Newport. Now I find myself thinking/hoping there's still another album (or three) to look forward to in the future. "There'll be new dreams, maybe better dreams and plenty... before the last revolving year is through." She couldn't have picked a more inspiring lyric for the occasion.
Came to say exactly the same thing! The change is remarkable!
what a PERFECT line to add to your comment!
Ok…. I agree with your comments. I am amazed and delighted what a tough amazing Woman. I am going to be tacky but this Brandi person seems to get noticed through her association with Joni. Hope I’m wrong and she really is a true friend. Anyway Miss Joni is a true marvel and one tough broard and it was a joy to see and hear her again and I still believe that the las 4to 5 minutes in music come at the end of Paprika Planes after all these decades some music I really enjoy but not like those last few minutes! Anyway I’m truly amazed by her as usual.
@@susanjohnson2068 I hear where you're coming from and have had some of the same concerns, but I think Joni probably needed Brandi there to smooth out some of the rough patches when she started performing again. I imagine Brandi provided emotional support as much as vocal support... it can't have been easy for Joni to get back on stage after all she's been through. But with Joni's voice coming back, and her health apparently better than anyone would have expected it to be at this point, perhaps Brandi can now step back and let Joni have the stage to herself.
@@susanjohnson2068 Brandi has done pretty well for herself prior to her more recent association with Joni. I don't really know her music but I just looked it up -- she has 9 Grammy awards -- most of them are from before her association with Joni. And after all, Brandi was the one booked as the closer of the Newport Folk Festival last summer and who brought Joni.
Exquisite voice..The piano player, The guitarist, The backup singers all on point
Yes, this rendition.

I didn't think I could love her any more than I already do. I was wrong.
She won't let anyone shine better than herself! Have always loved Joni, and as a Woman of 68 I can say, she still got it, and we all love her..
Absolutely beautiful rendition of Summertime, Joni truly killed it here - beautiful.

She is phenomenal. A legend. I have enjoyed her talent for many years.I was 13 when I first heard her. She was 23. Thank you Joni for all your music. ♥️♥️ you
What a voice, lush, smooth and experienced. She was at the head of the line for vocal gifts and I got nothing. I’m glad she worked hard to share this with us. Thank you Joni.
Her voice is like honey! What a beautiful performance from everyone❤
Oh Joni. Sobbing throughout the whole of The Circle Game performance. You have no idea how this song grounds me in so many ways, especially during darker, heavier times.
I heard her do Circle Game in Flint at a coffee house called the sippin lizard in the late 60's
Me too. I used to sing it, badly, to my young children at bedtime, but they didn't know. I printed out the lyrics for my son when he got his license. 😭
Sending much love and Good Vibes from Ireland 💜☘️🫂
