Bison headbutts car in Yellowstone National Park

This large bison was standing still in the middle of the road, so cars stopped in both directions with plenty of room between them and the bison. Along comes another bison from the valley, up to the road, much closer to car. The larger bison then decides to walk over to the smaller (yet still large) bison. That's when this happened. Just think if he really put all his force into the ram. Luckily no one was hurt, not even the bison.
For those guys in the vehicle, it was perhaps most frightening day of their lives but for M. Bison, it was just Tuesday.
I heard he was planning some sort of street fighting tournament which included a mini game he was explaining to the other bison that would take place between fights.
Ahahahahah, amazing.
People should be banned from Yellowstone. Or at the very least have to pass an intelligence test.
And was a rental car too! You can tell by the plate........ hope he bought the damage waiver!
They weren’t frightened just annoyed but that’s what they get for driving too close

Sometimes I wish I could just do that during traffic
The only mistake this car made is that he should have put a little more distance between himself and the bison by swinging wide. The opposite lane appeared open, and cars coming the other direction will usually allow you to swing a little wide if they see your situation. You can't just sit there while traffic backs up for miles. The bison was off the road when the car went by. A ranger would tell you to keep moving and not block traffic. Rangers will turn on their sirens and drive directly at bison to drive them off the road. A few cars get butted every year, but it's rare.
The opposite lane appeared open? Um...the video was taken by a person driving a vehicle in the opposite lane...fyi
@@user-md4di6yg2p Ha, ha! Good point! And the driver was (possibly...could have been taken by a passenger) taking the video and not paying attention to driving!

the bison regrets doing that lmao
Looks like this bison was trying to remind the car the rule is to stay 25 yards away from large mammals (100 yards for bears and wolves), even in vehicles! I know you can’t control it if bison decide to cross the street right in front of you, but in this case, BOTH cars should’ve stayed back and waited for the bison to leave (or pass if they needed to, but definitely not stop so close. I was there in May, it’s common for traffic to build when animals are near the road, but it didn’t usually last long. I couldn’t believe it when I saw a couple people on trails just staying put as bison got closer to them; at first I was like “well at least they’re not going off trail to get to the bison, the bison just so happened to come near” but then they turned and some people tried to follow the bison just for their video! Crazy. Remember the animals have the right away in these protected areas: if they get close to us, it’s our responsibility to move out of their way - not the other way around.
Common sense like you describe goes a long way. Shame so many folks don't have it.
☺️
You can remind people of the rules until your mouth turns blue in the face. It won't do no good.
So you sit there, while cars are backed up for miles behind you, while the bison hang out next to, or on, the road? How long? Ten minutes? Twenty? Thirty? While folks are blowing their horns behind you? I guarantee you that if and when a ranger comes by (possibly because someone in a car behind you calls one) that he/she will tell you to drive by, and if you want to stop use a turnout! Bison ramming cars happens, but it's extremely rare. Normally, if you drive forward slowly, they will move out of the way. Rangers will turn on their sirens to drive bison out of the road.
Yes, clearly the bison knows the rule and was enforcing it there.
Imagine trying to explain this to your insurance company.

Yellowstone Park needs to do something about these cars. This is the territory of bisons, buffalos and other animals….and people are intruding in their homes which is their HOMES!
