Actually the jokes about dermatologists are pretty spot on, I'm a Ph.D. Aerospace Engineer but one of my best buds in undergrad college went to med school and he's now a heart surgeon and I heard him joke about dermatologists once when he said...Dermatology, if it's dry make it wet, if it's wet make it dry.

Dermatology covers a wide range of treatments and skin conditions, however one of the important life saving types of dermatology is excision and treatment of skin cancer. Some dermatologists also treat skin cancer and pre-cancerous growths using photo-dynamic treatment (PDT). Not all dermatologists specialize in acne, and tattoo removal.
