Vitamin A is needed for immunity and is cheap
Vitamin A (which is retinol) and immunity
WHO report
www.who.int/emergencies/disea...
www.nhs.uk/conditions/vitamin...
Vitamin A has several important functions
helping natural defence against illness and infection (immune system) work properly
helping vision in dim light
keeping skin and the lining of some parts of the body, such as the nose, healthy
Good sources of vitamin A
Good sources of vitamin A (retinol) include:
cheese
eggs
oily fish
fortified low-fat spreads
milk and yoghurt
liver and liver pâté
If you're pregnant you should avoid eating liver or liver products, (NHS, 2023)
Excess vitamin A is toxic.
Vitamin A deficiency
www.who.int/data/nutrition/nl...
What are the consequences and implications?
Night blindness is one of the first signs of vitamin A deficiency.
In its more severe forms, vitamin A deficiency contributes to blindness by making the cornea very dry, thus damaging the retina and cornea.
An estimated 250 000-500 000 children who are vitamin A-deficient become blind every year,
and half of them die within 12 months of losing their sight.
World’s leading preventable cause of childhood blindness.
Deficiency of vitamin A is associated with significant morbidity and mortality from common childhood infections,
Vitamin A deficiency also contributes to maternal mortality and other poor outcomes of pregnancy and lactation.
It also diminishes the ability to fight infections.
Even mild, subclinical deficiency can be a problem, because it may increase children's risk for respiratory and diarrhoeal infections,
decrease growth rates,
slow bone development and decrease the likelihood of survival from serious illness.
Beta carotene
Red-orange pigment, in plants and fruits,
especially carrots and colourful vegetables.
The body converts beta carotene into vitamin A
The advantage of dietary beta carotene is that the body only converts as much as it needs.
Healthy antioxidant
May prevent cognitive decline
jamanetwork.com/journals/jama...
May help lung function
thorax.bmj.com/content/61/4/320
Both may be due to preventing oxidative stress
www.medicalnewstoday.com/arti...
Foods rich in beta carotene:
Apricots, Asparagus, Broccoli, Carrots, Chives, Dandelion leaves, Grapefruit, (Chilli powder, oregano, paprika, parsley), Kale,
Onions, Peas, Peppers, Plums, Pumpkin, Spinach, Squash, Sweet potatoes.
Role of Vitamin A in the Immune System
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/arti...
Needed for mucous membrane innate immunity (respiratory and GI)
Essential for the normal function of many immune cells such as T lymphocytes
Vitamin A deficiency is associated with severe Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia in children
kzhead.info?even...
Beijing, Feb, 2020
N = 122 children, (0 - 15)
52 sMPP
Severe Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia
70 nsMPP
Non-severe Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia
Serum levels of vitamins A, D, and E were measured and compared, and correlated with nsMPP and sMPP.
Results
The age was older in the sMPP samples than that in the nsMPP samples.
(7.12 vs. 4.01)
So older children suffered more severe infections.
Vitamin A deficiency was present in both the nsMPP and sMPP samples.
Vitamin A levels were significantly lower in the sMPP serum than that in the nsMPP serum.
(0.15 vs. 0.19)
Vitamin A deficiency was defined
Deficiency, less than 0.2 mg/L,
Subclinical vitamin A deficiency, 0.2-0.3 mg/L
Normal vitamin A level by 0.3-0.7 mg/L.
So, children with lower vitamin A levels suffered more severe infections.
Vitamins E and D levels were also lower in sMPP children
Vitamin E (7.4 vs. 8.22)
Vitamin D (23.08 vs. 32.07)
Both sMPP and nsMPP did not show a deficiency of vitamins E and D.

How do you think 1 gram of supplement can be the same as 3000 grams of fruit and veg? it isn't and isn't going to solve the problem. if the veg isn't so great there is wild herbs that have higher content of minerals but fruit trees have deep roots so should be about as good as is possible.if the problem is due to herbicides then organic is going to be your answer. in country like austria organic is becoming almost as cheap as the other produce coz so many people buy it.

    • Any discussion of excess deaths should only occur when you are comparing vaccinated with unvaccinated. This has been done with UK data. It was found that the all case mortaility rate for those vaccinated is less than those unvaccinated! This is not discussed on this channel. Can you possibly work out why? Every time I put the UK source of the data (including the person of a You Tube channel that discusses this or their channel name) on this channel the post gets deleted! I am concerned that you have made decisions based upon what Campbell has said. If you check out what he says he consistently misrepresents data and scientific papers but that is your choice!

Children of 5 years and younger received free orange juice and cod-liver oil from the government. The cod-liver (vit D, A & E) oil was to prevent Rickets (of the bones). I'm sure that it's worth measuring patient Vitamin A levels (and supplementing them if necessary) - as well as proactively supplementing kids. However, deficiencies don't just suddenly appear out of nowhere - populations are usually deficient for a long time - and if nothing else had changed, there shouldn't be sharp increases in cases. So, something else is ALSO contributing to the problem.

    • Recommend bearing in mind Vit A is fat soluble so needs some dietary fat to absorb the Vit A, this also means that it competes for absorbsion with other fat soluble vitamins ie K1, K2, D, E. So if you are taking Vit D / K2 supplements not a terrible idea to take them at a different time to any Vit A supplement. I also try to make sure I get some animal fat from dairy (melted cheese or yoghurt) each day around the time of taking fat soluble supplements to try to boost absorbsion. Am not a doctor, just speaking from personal experience.

You make up your mind whether it was a memory loss or something else. In early 2022 Campbell reported to the UK Yellow card system (adverse reporting) that he had developed high blood pressure (he has always had good blood pressure) after having his covid-19 booster. He seems to have forgotten he had produced a video in 2020 where he said he had suddenly developed high blood pressure. This was before he had any covid-19 vaccines? Memory loss or something else? • Thank you for all the work you do, Dr. Campbell. You are so thorough and so good at what you do in addition to being a great teacher! 👍 Greetings from Canada! 🇨🇦 Someone else made a great point about the toxic air quality in China. Besides diet and any malabsorption issues, there are many things that deplete nutrients such as Vitamins A, D, E, and others. Some of these are: air pollution, prescription and non-prescription drugs, herbicides and pesticides, and of course the list goes on. For anyone who may not have access to testing for nutrient levels in the blood, getting the right foods, if possible, is important, along with vitamin and mineral supplementation if food alone isn’t making enough of a difference. Very often even a slight dosage can make a big difference. Since supplements are concentrated substances, it may be preferable not to take them daily, allowing the body some time to clear any excess. Even the water-soluble vitamins such as the B complex, can build up in the body, regardless of what some say.
