Restoration Genius // The Genius Boy Restores The Hitachi 3 In 1 Woodworking A-1500A For Carpenter
Hello everyone.Welcome to the channel: Restoration Product !!!!!
In this episode we found a very big and heavy 3-in-1 table saw. and no longer works. The height and width of the machine are adjustable. We worked hard for many days. I did my best to show all the work and I am sure that my method will be improved in future videos. I think all the hard work on this project will get this mortise machine working again. Our mission is to entertain and give you the opportunity to discover forgotten tools. Please subscribe to my channel so you don't miss anything. ...Thanks for watching and supporting me..... I really appreciate this! Thanks a lot!!!
This is such a fascinating piece of equipment, if it had been done correctly. Never paint your feed tables or planer knives, or saw blades, that just creates drag and it’s gonna wear off quickly anyways. Also I’m glad you didn’t lose fingers when the jointer kicked back. Make yourself some push sticks, your safety is worth the effort.
Thank you for your comments, we have learned a lot from you. We invite you to watch our next videos
@@restorationproduct1718 please remember that wood working machines can take your fingers or hand off before your brain even knows something went wrong, it just takes a fraction of a second.
That jointer taking of half an inch off was scary. VERY SCARY. I wanted to comment the same, "congratulations on not ending up injured. Please be safe, there is no shame in it"
I agree. I cringed every time you ran your hand over that jointer blade. Then I jumped when it kicked back in your second pass. Please be careful!
Jesus, when you did your test cut the cutterhead was 1/4" higher than the outfeed table... you're lucky you still have hands.
Thank you very much, please watch our next videos
Green plant under the machine during the lift made me smile 😉😉😉
Thank you. Everything is very natural, no staging
And not a single cobweb lol
@@restorationproduct1718 LOL 😂
@@ajwalou-nack2343 LOL for real
I love how it was found in a garden that had the same wall.
My man almost lost his hand at 54:33....jesus. Good on you putting this back in operation but it was almost your last rebuild.
We are also very lucky, and learned a lot from this machine
@@restorationproduct1718Except how to use a push stick. You immediately repeated your mistake. You're not going to have all your fingers for long.
@@R.Daneel wrist
It's because he was using the planer incorrectly by removing nearly a centimeter of wood at a time, which led to a kickback, and they nearly lost their fingers.
OMG!!!! I can't stop laughing🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love how they're always randomly finding machinery in the weeds😅
We have searched for many days to get such a product, thank you for watching and subscribing to the channel
Kkkkkk é verdade
By putting them in there for views. It's clear that the lathe didn't sit there for long - just long enough for you to drape a few vines over it. And why? It's and interesting video without the deception.
When they lifted up the machine at the start, the ground had grass underneath it, still green & fresh.
Right , and the ground underneath was totally undisturbed when they picked it up with the sling !

Just who and why would anyone abandon such a valuable piece of machinery
It must be amazing to live in a country where you can casually find heavy machinery in the woods. And twice amazing in a rather poor country where any metal is looked for and sold for scrap. Even more amazing, this machine has been resting for months or years outside in a tropical/monsoon environnent and the wooden pieces have not rotten. Great restoration though (except for the makeshift at 37:50) of this machine.

Nice work. Be careful not to get your fingers cut off!! The machine looked great and worked well at the end.
Thank you for watching and subscribing to the channel
You saw that too eh!! Wow, almost lost the fingers plus and arm.
I have watched many of this kind videos but honestly this one was more perfect and in detail
😜😜😜👍👍👍

I use to do that for a living. I could get 80% of new price on a rebuilt machine. Worked better than new. Old heavy machines are the best!!

U
He never set the out-feed table correctly thus making the jointer useless and dangerous to anyone attempting to use that tool…he painted the beds of all three tools…the beds should never be painted…raw metal should always be the condition of these beds and waxed for operation and rust prevention…it is clearly evident this individual has no clue how these machines should be operated or set to operate safety…any other version of this is pure ignorance…next time we see this individual I’m sure a few digits will be missing.
@@robertdaigle7021 I agree with you, but you have to admire the amount of work he put into this. With a little mentoring, he could really bring a lot of these tools back to proper working condition.
I bet you were glad that you had the video of taking it apart! That a lot of pieces.
We also thought so, but that's not true at all, because that machine is too difficult and has too many details

At 54:35, it was very dangerous... Hey man, watch your fingers! You also need to set up the wood leveling table correctly. After planing, the wood must be completely flat. This is what this machine is for :)
At first we tried the new machine, then we adjusted the blade, thank you for watching and subscribing to the channel.

Testy to ...

It would have been a great shame to lose such multifunctional work station. You have done a wonderful restore. One suggestion if you are keeping it for personal use, I would cold blue the bare metal slide surfaces. Regardless, nice job.
Thank you for sharing your review experiences, we are very happy to have honest audiences like you
Nice work but the table tops should not be painted just polished and machine waxed
you are very right to say that the worktop is not painted. we have cleaned the paint on the work surface and applied a protective oil on it, thank you for everything
Non of the machined faces should be painted.
8
Non of the machined faces where the wood will be touching or sliding should be painted. Rather they should be polished and then given a coat of wax. Other than that mistakes nice job.
Genius is an overstatement. Hard work, patience, and determination are all that is needed. I agree with another person's comment that painting the surface of the tables or the shafts of the rotating parts is not a good idea.
Thank you for your comments. We invite you to watch our next follow-up videos
Excellent job, congatulatioins, boy.👍👍👍

Make a finger board so you don’t get kick back and also use a push stick. But a really nice job.
Thank you very much, please watch our next videos
Wow! he could have had a very bad accident when planning that piece of square wood. The back table wasn't set level with the cutting edge of the blades, it was to low, so when he got to the end there was a big dip in the cut.
I'm sure you are a professional, we thank you for your comments, good luck
@@restorationproduct1718 Thanks for the reply. I am a qualified wood machinist.
Outfeed table
It also looks like the in feed and out feed tables weren't parallel @@stefankaz53
Oh, so the exit side has to be parallel to the planer blades' cutting edge to prevent the overdigging and danger of feedback? Good to know. I would think they would use push sticks or some form of safe workholding - anything to keep fingers away from that exposed high speed planer blade...yeesh Also, I am assuming that the correct direction of workpiece is against direction of cutter rotation? I've been rather interested in a planer, but more of a want than a need, as I am more of a machinist than a woodworker
Well done, dangerous piece of equipment if you’re not careful as you almost found out.
We have to be very careful. Avoid all possible risks
He was taking way too much of a bite on that piece of lumber.
The machine is working perfectly
Thank you for watching and subscribing to the channel
I never saw the machine work perfectly. What time did that happen?
I like to watch when people themselves do what they need, without crying over the fact that there is no money for what they need! How did such a wonderful unit get thrown out?!
That machine of the wood workshop was burned or not working. Thank you for watching and subscribing to the channel
This guy will have to be a genius to be able to remember how all the parts go back together. We have a machine here in the States called a Shopsmith.
it's our job, we have to remember all the details
If only someone had made a video of him taking it to bits…
Putting it back together is simple if you play the video backwards. Don’t have to be a genius, just clever.

Great job I am sure that will come in handy
that machine will make a lot of prestigious wood products, thank you very much
I'm a new subscriber. Fantastic job of rescuing this piece of equipment. I do agree that metal table tops should not be painted, as the paint will wear off. You can clean them with WD40 ans steel wool. Then waxed with machine wax or car polish. This will repel water and prevent rust. Remove all rust from the inside of brackets and the bars that hold them. Other wise it will continue to rust. Avoid painting adjustment screws and the gears. As the paint will wear of and can cause problems later. Polish them as clean as you can. Tape off before painting, then apply grease only. Good luck, hope to see more soon.
Thank you for sharing a lot of interesting knowledge, we learn a lot from you
54:38: man that's soooooo dangerous - kickback. lucky no-one was stood in line with the projectile.

Always amazed how he transforms old machinery into new condition with basic tools...
You too can do that. All you need is a lot of tools/supplies and the ability to use them. Plus, a digital camera or 3 helps a lot in rebuilding.
That is our job and our passion
👍👍👍👍
Your work was fantastic and remarkable , and I loved it . God bless you .

The skill & expertise shown on this is excellent. Many designing engineers deal with a complex machines they draw up and only have responsibility on a theoretical basis. In other words they aren’t mechanics putting the equipment together, or the end user actually getting it to function, in this case carpenters. That is not to say any of these skill sets are inferior, but my gues this fellow is mor of a mechanic than design engineer or carpenter. I also think it is entirely possible that he’s never seen this Hitachi in any shape. His talent is superb. The owner of the shop that abandoned it is probably still looking for the idiot that parked outside. This machine in its ruined condition would bring around $4000 US. Restoration would add several days and bring the price up again. Very complex. Thanks for posting. 0 57:52
thank you very much , we worked for many days to get it working again, the result is amazing
Set the second half of your jointer table the same height as your blades are cutting and you will eliminate that deeper cut at the end of the pass

You were quick, lucky the motor did not need re-wiring. Pity your paint found it´s way on parts that should not see any. Maybe take pictures next time. Also, the planer on the plank was set take way too much, as you watched it shoot off. Next time make shore you do it in stages and to not have the wood rocking, you can turn to cut from the other end, yet always try to cut with the grain, like you would with a hand Plane ok. I have watched so many young builders cut their own planks and then buy a hand Planer to clean each side, it takes a long time. You could offer this service and make a lot of money on the side Thanks for you film, loved the color choice from the 60´s. They made things to last back then.

That's a sick looking bird.
you need to adjust the outfeed table on the jointer higher
we do not have specialized and modern machines , we do it entirely from available experience , thank you for everything
I don't know what these other people are watching, but this was a horrible restoration. If you were going to spend the time completely dismantling this thing, you could have done a much better job at prepping the parts for paint. Taping off the areas that needed to be taped. What was the purpose of putting body filler on the base and not the rest of it? I'm not going to go on about all the other mistakes. Next time, do better. Good luck!
Thank you for your attention and reminder, we are very happy to have an audience like you
