A scintillating display by Manchester United saw them tear Roma apart to reach the Champions League semi-finals.
Michael Carrick curled in United's opener and Alan Smith fired home before Wayne Rooney added their third of the night, finishing off a superb move.
Cristiano Ronaldo fired into the bottom corner and slid home a Ryan Giggs cross before Carrick smashed home a sixth.
Roma replied through Daniele De Rossi before Patrice Evra's low shot rounded off United's amazing 8-3 aggregate win.

  • Sorry to sound mawkish and maudlin, but this was the game that was played the night before my Dad’s funeral with *this* commentary. Obviously watched it at home, but my Dad was a lifelong UNITED supporter who bought me up the same way. The odd moment was when my brother in law (who has no interest in football) watched us tear Roma to shreds and just said…”This isn’t Normal, is it?” Always had this little superstition that it was for my Dad. A bittersweet memory, but thank you for it.

  • I was in the Stretford End that night. Very lucky really, never been a season ticket holder and always relied on mates spare tickets. Saw a lot more European football than Premier League. Can’t remember who I got the ticket off that night, but glad that I did.

Это был фантастический вечер и ночь! Я кричал и пел ! Столько счастья было у всех ! Пиво было выпито очень много - море. И в конце болельщики Ромы уже жали нам руки и улыбались и вместе мы пили пиво. Утром у меня голоса почти не было.

  • The frustrating thing about his, after watching the dismal stuff we've played for the last decade, is how simple it can be. The most obvious thing about the Fergie years was the RUNNING. Everyone running for each other, all the time. Nothing complicated, just players running to make themselves available for each other. 1 & 2 touch because you knew your team mate would be there. Rasmus would score 40 a season in that team. Watching Rashford, Martial, Maguire & Co. strolling around is so depressing. It's simple..... keep fking running for each other. That's the minimum I ask.

    • The players we have bought aren’t utd standard of old… the culture and team spirt isn’t UTD standard either… can see ten hagg trying to install more discipline … players been getting away with shit for too long … the wages they get now has massive influence on their professionalism … they are overpaid for not winnning… should be on performance based contracts

  • Who edited this absolute nonsense? Go from 1-0 at 11 mins to 0-0 at 2 mins..then to 3-0 at 18 mins before jumping back to 2-0 at 17 mins.. learn to count before starting KZhead is my suggestion.

  • It is not that MU was that good. It was a poor tactic by Spalletti. We let way too much space to MU players. Milan beat this MU easily after this match.

  • It was a great performance, but a one sided game. Watch the 3-3 draw with Barcelona from 1999 if you want to see an entertaining match that was competitive and dramatic.
