I don't care how much people rave about Man City and Guardiola - Man Utd in their heydays were simply unplayable. Fast, direct and absolutely clinical. Utd played the best football ever in my opinion.
bollox
A young Paul Scholes played along side Cantona, Kanchelkis, Hughes, Bruce, Pallister, Schmachiel, Ince, Irwin.
90s football was a whole other animal
When football was all about playing for the badge and not money
hahaha this was the era it started at the time those united players were the best paid in the country ,, annoys me when united fans try and make out they had no investment then ..... was never organic btw BskyB funded your early transfers such as cantona .. enough of this bollox
Forget the football, the crowd was different back then. I wish we had that now.
Should have experienced Old Trafford in the 70s
Apparently when the premier league was formed the average age of a season ticket holder was 23 and now its something like 55.
@@simoncampbell3144I bet it was f'in mental.
That's cos you can be openly gay now and not have to go to football to rub up against people
@@brendandarkside1207 dureń
Thats the City I remember growing up, consistently poor.
back when Manchester united was the Manchester united of the premier league🤤
the real united before the glazer scum tookover
Oh Cantona - just sheer class
manchester united are one of the greatest teams in the world.
Were
@@peterrowlands6406 and will be again, just wait and see.
The pace off the game these days is pedestrian compared to this. The highlights is enough for me now! 😵
Games today are like a game of chess...teams too scared to lose rather than try to win!🙄👹
This tikitiki sh!t ruined football
We had Kanchelskis owning the right wing then. Now we have Antony etc 😥
I was at this match. Stayed in in a horrible B&B in Stretford that night. What a night. Amazing atmosphere
I went to this game, happy days!
Sparky is a brutal warrior!
Better refs , better crowds an no bloody VAR , plus players who could take a tackle
kanchelskis was fire and so underrated!!
No he wasn't underrated. He was at United because he was rated as a world class player. His problem was the same as Ince, ego and they both leant no one is bigger than the club!
@@jamminwithmatt5313 Yes he was underrated!!
The warm, fuzzy, comforting days when City were crap.
Now a days it's the other way around
Money does a shit load of talking these days too, otherwise City could still be in the Football League
What a performance from a real club who are global and have reached every corner of the globe many moons ago and are still.as relevant now we will.soon rise to the top again.
Cope. You’re so irrelevant now people don’t even look to your results for a laigh
Can only live in the past if you actually have one.
Are you saying city don't have any history? I'm a man utd fan and even I know that they do
@@Gruff86990they are building theirs now 🤷♂️
@@terryduckworth5105 not really. They won leagues and European competitions before they won their first premier league. Is that not history
Bbvbbbb

I can't place how old I was when the question of what team I supported was posed (by a fellow school chum). My dad was still actively playing at the time and I was keenly aware of the pageantry of the FA Cup final and how it was the only live televised match. I replied Manchester United without hesitancy but in reality I had no clue why. In 1965 Man U would win the league. In 66 they would destroy Benfica before falling short in Belgrade (of all places) in the European Cup, then win the league again in 67. In April of 68 my family emigrated to California. The first leg of Euro Cup semi against Real Madrid had been played but once in California, football as I knew it, ceased to exist. From family correspondence I eventually learned, via a snippet of a sentence, that Man U had won the 68 Euro Cup final but it would be the early 1990's before the Los Angeles Times started providing the scores of the English first division from Saturday followed (with the launch of the Premier League) by a sports oriented cableTV channel that primarily existed to air the home games of the LA Lakers basketball that somewhat randomly (you couldn't assume a particular day or time) inserted the hour long Sky Sports Premier league highlights show as filler. Finally a glimpse of real football. The last time I'd watched United they were on top and after 25 years here they were still on top. Kanchelskis impressed me to no end, as did Schmeichal. Then we moved from Los Angeles to San Diego and another (albeit brief) period of being in the dark. Finally a San Diego channel picked up the Premier League show. Where's Kanchelskis? Then I see him playing at Everton and question what idiot let him leave. The rest is history.
I remember seeing all of City's 5 fans skriking on Whitworth St in town after this match.
5???..you're being generous!🤣🤣🇪🇬👹
The topsy turvy world of football How the times have changed 😊
First goal was SICK!!. U don't get many players these days that can control the ball like that. This era had the most talented footballers.
We're talking about cantona here he was magic.
He is King Cantona 👑
King Eric at his best 😅
Remember this game well. Sat with big headphones on listening to 5Live I think it was. 😅
Skill and sense ❤
One of the most one sided Manchester derby at that time
Forever, King Eric
Thanks for uploading this.
Always remember this match being on a Thursday night
แมนเชสเตอร์ยูไนเต็ด❤❤
I always think of this team as 'swashbuckling'. The were such fun to watch with Kanchelskis & Giggs haring down the wings and explosive Hughes & the ringmaster Cantona... Dennis Irwin no slouch, nor the other defenders. Hard not to mention all the team really. They had a naivety about them in a way as they always seemed to just want to attack. ... In some ways, my favourite of the successful teams, even if they were just the dawn and for a short period... 95 sees a lot of changes and as SAF started to be more canny in Europe, how they played changed. The Age of Innocence was over (even if it was the kids that brought it to an end).
I also remember very well following the Cantona to MUFC from Leeds Utd transfer in the papers (yep, 'the papers' then). I don't think I've ever been as happy with a signing as when that happened and if I remember well I don't think they paid a HUGE amount as Howard Wilkinson was not fond of him
Rood to glory ❤times
great pace of games from both team!!
Oh how times have changed.
Brilliant
thing about eric was you could pass at him any type of cross good or bad , he would bring it down and move it on !!
wow, what an atmosphere, like a Champions league match...
Kalchenski was the engineer.
That's football!!!
That's a straight red for Sparky in 2024
♥️👍♥️👍♥️👍
AJ all d way.....straight from naija
Like reading a library book. Wonder if United will ever have a team like this again?
Living in the past…..10 years and counting
We went 26 years between titles last time and still remained the best supported club in England. It's all par for the course. No biggie.
oh man look at that play from midfield start from @18:05 .... I remember this manutd
going from this to the sorry mess we have now
This won’t happen again for at least 50 years so basically we have to watch archive footage to see Manchester United play proper football
Yes our current players are not playing for the club but playing for money. They are not aggressive. They don’t attack nor run after balls. It’s a shame
Can’t help but think Andre wasn’t utilised to his full value at the club.
B4 the Dirty money arrived...115 charges later they land a Treble
Proper football
City msh jadi "tetangga yg berisik " 😊
What team mu was then
I want the link to the main channel
I watched this game in my local with ex Man Utd player,Colin Webster
When did he play for United?
The forgotten Mam U. Living is the past.
Did Roy Keane actually kiss Kanchelskis there? He kept that quiet...
First Thursday night match in the premier league, second on also a Thursday sept 1998, Liverpool at OT. home win two nil😂😂😂😂
You still live in the past but at the moment that’s all you’ve got, but Man City is the future and that’s what matters 🏆🏆🏆
Not for much longer!115!!😜👹
😂😂
115
If any spanish player had that chance which Roy did the spanish one would score a goal. At that time and for long time after british players didn`t have a knowlege I`d say.
Sorry city fans! Im enjoying this !
สวัสดี
I don't think Messi could have dribbled to these physical games. He probably could have ankle injuries every 3 months like Giggs.
breagrie turned keane inside out
Well I suppose memories are all they have left.
At least we have memories. This period City are going through is their history. Enjoy it while it lasts because City certainly won't have this again.
Hungry Wolf
8:51 Roy Keane would have finished the guy
Before they bought a team
Great to see this again Pre-oil money, City were relentlessly shite Kanchelskis 100000 times better than Anthony There would have been 25 bookings now Cantona was majestic
Pre 115
How can a 5-0 thrashing be a classic match.. 😂. It's so demeaning..
Panathinaikos Ateny ipswich Town rywale los losowanie polskie zespoły puchary cześć !
Why OJ Simpson played for United?
The commentator’s are being a little xenophobic by repeatedly referring to “Foreigners” in the United team.
In those days there were probably less than 15 overseas players in the entire league (not including Republic of Ireland). It was rare and there were people who were questioning whether an increase in 'foreign' players was going to benefit the league or whether it would be difficult for them to adapt to the pace and physicality of the English game. Having the 2 foreigners score and assist 4 out of the 5 goals in a match like this would definitely be a talking point in the newspapers the following day. And yes... many of the newspapers were extremely xenophobic.
lol do you even know what a phobia is
Now, we’re overrun with the rats. Aided and abetted by Richard heads like yourself with bleeding hearts. Football wise, there was only a few.
This Manu channel is trying to be relevant
What you said makes no sense. This is a retro game so relevancy is non existent.
1994! Man, this is clutching at straws
It’s called nostalgia. Football didn’t start in 2010 you know.
That's what happens when your club has history. Remember in 2008 when Wimbledon beat City 8-0?
And to think, the shite that wears that shirt nowadays 😢
Funny how the Berties forget all this all copying fakers
Not doing so well these days huh?
Won a trophy in 2023 🏆
How would a team win by 5 nil be a classic match?, 😀
classic usually means 30 or more years in the past
FA cup this not premier league.
First Thursday night match of the PREMIERSHIP, please wake up😂😂😂😂😂
M U. in the past was VERY TERRIBLE.... to this day....THE HORROR IS STILL VERY TERRIBLE.
