some people dont understand how important this goal was, this was not just a goal to win the semis, this was a mighty mighty Arsenal, and this alone led us to the Treble, unforgettable
It was against 1-0 arsenal…..
Look at arsenal attacking, Bergkamp, Overmars, Anelka, so creepy
@@cheenangng4050 it was actually 2-1 and this goal was in extra time
@@sebastiangomez6912 what?🤔 how can a 2-1 lead take you to extra time??
@@riddley39 he means to say that it was 1-1 till 90 minutes but in the 30 minute extra time, Ryan Giggs scored the goal.
The best game of football you’ll ever see in your lifetime it had everything red card penalty save disallowed goal and an unreal heroic solo goal
Certainly right up there at the very top mate. Ok, there have been higher scoring games that rank as "classics" but this was two heavyweights, at their best, throwing haymakers but none were even causing the opponent to flinch. It took a very rare, great moment to settle it.
Never ever again will we see a goal like that a player like that a formidable team like that they don't make them like this anymore
I'd say the referee was spot on as well, it's ironic, that todays ref can't get these simple things right with all their technology available, yet this guy delivered fair judgement on the day without anything other than his linesmen to help him.
All in one. 🎉
Best game ever? The hyperbole that followed 1990s Manchester United continues...
This is why you're not allowed to take off your shirt anymore
No it was because of Diego Forlan during his time at Man Utd
I was just joking lol. But yeah, the Forlan incident was funny as hell.
Lol
Amazon jungle
whats the reason
Brilliant goal, brilliant player, brilliant chest hair.
Terrible human
Thank u Patrick
That goal could only be scored in the 90s. Modern day he would have been tackled well. Terribly overrated
Man chest hair
@@craigirwin1371 how old are you? Football in the 90s was much better than now there isnt a world class deffender in football today
20+ years on this remains one of the best solo goals I've ever seen. Not just the run, not just the finish but the importance of this goal in the grand scheme of ManU's treble winning campaign. Simply amazing from one of the best midfielders to ever play the game.
True but Messi Gol vs getafe solo
@@zainyardo1136 That goal is simply amazing as well; as was Messi's genius on the ball.
@@khy6330 Messi's solo goal v/s Madrid was better
Not run that fast since Rhodri came home early.
That's going too far. Giggs was a top player, but he was actually at his best when he was young and had crazy pace. He was so dangerous then. He quickly lost that half yard of pace though and then was normally one of the best players on the pitch but rarely standout. As Keane once said, a great career and a great player are not the same things. I could probably concede Giggs was a great player but depending on how you define the word great
Giggs the Legend.. this goal will stand tall for years to come..the performance was just too terrific...every minute in training sessions paid off..
I like Giggs steak bakes.
“Was Nicholas Anelka offside?” Of course he was look at him he might as well be signing autographs in the crowd. 😂
It wasn't a pass and the ball came back ofc the keeper
@@kaiprophet4428 That's not how off-sides works. You cannot be behind the last man, if the ball is played forward, and then proceed to take advantage of that position in any form. Even if you are no where near where the ball ends up, if you so much as start to make a run it is still called.
@@MrFrankyGification umm can u like explain it simpler??
@@MrFrankyGification That's actually not true. Players often stand in an offside position at set pieces because they aren't effecting that phase of play.
@@ZolaMagic25 Standing (off-sides trap) is not the same as running to take advantage of where you started off standing. You clearly miss read what I said, because I never mentioned standing as a violation. I said taking advantage of your position is a violation. If a player makes any advantageous movement while off-sides, which is basically anything other than standing or walking back on-sides, they will be called for it.
With all the furor over Giggs' winner, it's difficult to remember that Beckham's opener was world-class too.
beckham man??? people forgot schmeichels penalty save in final minute 😁. but offcourse anyone will with that solo goal down to 10 man
Yes Andrew! Beckham's goal was pure class. He was a consistently great player! But Giggsy's goal... simply wonderful.
From that distance with no defender in front of him, it's almost unfair.
People forget that Beckham was world class. Period.
Also credit to his teammate who served it like a freekick
Bro had a forest on his chest 💀
Never let any Arsenal fan tell you that this meant nothing, it meant everything. It was unbearable to watch, I have been so nervous. Everyone shouting at Giggs to take it to the corner flag to waste time. After the goal it seemed like 6hrs before the final whistle. To me, still the two greatest sides in my time.
I wouldn't believe that, as much as I wouldn't ever believe an Arsenal fan telling me that their club, along with Everton, have never been demoted from the top tier. 🤣
I agree mate, unbearable tension and intensity. Those who watched it live and knew football from that time know this.
ahh yes 'meant nothing' wins treble
1998-1999 will for ever been Manchester United greatest ever season.
Class of '92 forever though
and this was one of the best matches I ever watched, it had everything and ended up meaning so much.
yeah, plenty of boring football.
iamforchange ... many miracles in 1999 ... this game, the 2nd leg against Juventus at Turin when 2-0 down ... they won 3-2 (!), and of course the final vs Bayern, scoring 2 injury time goals to win the game 2-1. The fairy tale among all fairy tales.
People tend to forget just how tough a road it was to the Treble; in the FA Cup we played and defeated all of our rivals at the top of the PL - Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea and Keegan's Newcastle team spearheaded by Shearer. The Final against them was one of the easiest games as it happens. And of course in the European Champion's League we had to get past Barcelona, Inter, Juventus and also Bayern Munich in the group stage as well as the Final. In fact Brøndby in the group stage were the only inferior team United met en route to the Final. So much for the constant ABU whining that United always get easy draws in Europe!

Haha 😅 hillarious
This was one of the ultimate games, not just in Utd's ultimate season but in any season. The overall quality, the goals, the rivalry, the game's significance at the time and also in what was to come, how it played out... absolutely unbelievable. Giggs' goal was one of the all-time greats for its skill level, timing and importance but Beckham's was actually pretty special, too; about twenty five yards out, hit first time past a great 'keeper and curled into the side netting.
Better than anything Messi had ever scored, Gigsy is such an underrated player because unlike Messi, he played for the team and not himself!
One thing nobody appreciates is Scholes reaction after the penalty miss. Already running back as the ball is struck. He is the one player ready for it, protecting the rebound from Vieira. He also busts a lung in extra time to get in position for a possible rebound from Giggs' shot.
Scholes was one the best, yet most underrated midfielders ever. So technical instead of flashy
@@PatrickMondal He might well be, but that penalty should have been retaken as Scholes was well into the area as the ball was struck!
Thats one thing that i think VAR has changed for the better. It used to be laughable how inconsistent ref were with reinforcement of that rule.
Now it would've been a foul.
Well spotted!😏👹
03:20 gentlemen
what was that pass bro is he blind or what??

then they rated him one of the best midfielder lol

One of the greatest moments of my life watching this down the local pub, the place went wild. I will never EVER forget it.
I'll never tire of seeing one of the best goals ever - fantastic player in a fantastic team !
One of the best matches in football history. The Man United-Arsenal rivalry in the 90s/00s was the most dramatic and cinematic of all time. So honoured to have been born in that era and grown up with these heroes.
😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
Of all time? Mm not sure about that
Me too
@@biplopqusquddin2278 it really was one of the best matches in football history. Absolutely pivotal game for both teams at the peak of their rivalry, a game-changing penalty save and one of the greatest goals of all time. What else do you need?
@@noradosmith El Classico?

Even though I am a lifelong Reds supporter, I remember watching this match and have to admit Giggs' is one of the greatest solo efforts I have ever seen
That goal from Beckham is sublime! Overshadowed obviously but still a doozy!
The goal that Jesse Lingard has decided to build his entire career around trying to replicate... ...It's a good choice.
Tbf lingard scored 2 similar but inferior goals against Leicester in the shield and Watford in the premier league
This hasn’t aged well
@@jackmcloughlin9852 How so? I'd say looking at his recent resurgence it has aged remarkably well.
You can tell this isn't the actual commentary, I remember everyone going absolutely mental when Giggsy scored including the commentator
You know there can be more than one feed right? Sometimes they will have a different commentator for overseas broadcast since they use a different (but still UK produced) feed from the broadcast in the UK.
21 years ago today! Fantastic memories
I was at that game and don't appreciate you reminding me that I'm that old. Still feels like yesterday.
The greatest ever individual goal by a United player… and one of the most important in the club’s history. For the pathway to a historic unparalleled Treble that it made possible. And that with 10 men against a fantastic Arsenal team who were the big rivals for The Double, in both league and cup.
Ryan Giggs- what a solo goal... Legendary
"AND IT'S ARSENAL NOW A- oh, the flag is up."
karma in 2005 when rio's goal got disallowed bitch.
I've never understood why players cheer when they get given a penalty. You should wait until the ball's in the back of the net.
nice open goal miss by giggsy 4 year's later, and vieria to score the winning goal in the final 6 year's later, put a sock in it now.
@@clockendthugnomercytheherd3182 a wonderful reminder to the pigs, and quiet frankly, this video I am fed up appearing again,United were shit then and just as shity just like now
Sunthara Rajan Then why are you here?
The goal is just amazing in every way, including the context within the match and the significance for the season. A moment of unsurpassed magic.
Apart from Viera's 'pass', which was a moment of unsurpassed 🤪
Greatest F.A cup goal ever (against most of the England back five) in one of the greatest games ever, it had everything.
It really isn't. And a back 5 that crumpled like a poppadom being struck by a cannon ball btw, let's not make out he had to work hard and use cunning or skill to get through them....and once he was through he was faced with a GK who thought the best way to save it was to lie down. This is one of the most overrated goals there is. Paolo Wanchope scored a better goal against Utd than this! Come to think of it so did Darren Huckerby. There's arguably quite a few better FA cup goals than this that's without the Trevor Sinclair overhead kick that OBVIOUSLY is. Dennis Bergkamp Vs Sunderland is better. David Ginola Vs Barnsley was better. Eric Cantona Vs Wimbledon was better
So good seeing Sir Alex so happy. His players turned up for him and played the beautiful game the way it should be played. A true legend and the Utd Godfather.
19 years later...and it still gives me chills to watch this game and see that goal. #GloryGloryManUnited
I remember listening to this on the radio way back then, they paint a picture on the radio but I didn't realize what a mesmerizing goal Giggs scored until I seen the highlights later. stuff of dreams
These were incredible times. I believe that Arsenal team just conceded 4 goals at home in that year's league. These 2 teams were probably the two best in Europe that year and their tussles were mighty. After going down to 10 men I thought we were done, with the penalty I was close to certain we were finished. In extra time I didn't see any way for us to create a chance never mind a goal as Arsenal were on so on top. I was beyond shocked when Giggs did what he did.
I'm an arsenal fan and this game was what top football was about! If bergkamp scores we go on to win double but this was the catalyst to you winning the treble! 👏👏 Great solo goal by giggs
i think Munich would argue they were at least 2nd best in Europe that season..
I'm watching this in December 2019, over 20 years after this game. Being a united fan, it's just sad to see where we are right now

0:33 Man that Drive Shot from Beckham is so nostalgic.
Bergkamp, Beckham, Giggs, Scholes _ there where times, football players had some intelligence
Dont forget Peter Schmeichel. Class goalkeeper
I can see why you'd praise Beckham's football, but let's rewind for "intelligence".
I could watch Giggs’ goal over and over. Anyone would’ve thought he’d scored it with his chest (hair). Superb goal and very George Best.
So many legends in 1 game.
Patrick Vieira. Absolute legend of the dumbfoundingly nonsensical stray pass. Congratulations Patrick - 🥇
You can see that he has NO idea where to go in the last 20% of that dribble, he is as confused as the defenders are, and in a miraculous way he manages to squeeze through and just rifle it into the ceiling. Absolutely crazy.
I remember watching this as it happened and my feeling of absolute despair when Roy Keane was sent off. I saw no way back until Ryan Giggs scored what was probably the most memorable goal in recent history and a goal that was instrumental in a defining season for Manchester United.
Yeah mate, remember all of it. It was such a tight, intense game that the sending off seemed seismic. It was never going to be one of those games where being a man down would not mean much. I did not see any realistic way Utd could win after it. I was in utter despair when the penalty was given. I do not think I have ever seen a game with the same intensity as this since.
This game is still so fresh in my memory. I was distraught after the second goal by Ryan Giggs. But what a goal, what a player Ryan Giggs.
Talk about a get-out-of-jail-free-card for one Roy Keane. That's what makes TEAM sports so great. Phil Neville arse too, "saved" by his goalkeeper. What a game that must have been to witness.
Smalling also did the same in 2016
I remember watching it live on TV but wish I had been there in the stadium.
The player dived though didn't he? Seems like Keane didn't deserve that second yellow at all
keane deserves all yellow and red cards by default just because he's keane
It was. I was lucky enough to be in the Holte End where Giggs scored. The game had everything. A great goal from Beckham and Bergkamp, a sending off, a saved penalty (Bergkamp hardly ever missed and Schmeichel rarely saved pens) and that goal to finish it off. As an individual game it was the best I’ve ever seen.
I still remember the pub i was in watching this game back in the day! Great game great goal great chest wig.
a match that still gives me goosebumps in 2021

One of the greatest football games of Manchester United that I wont forget...
I think you can even take the words "of Manchester United" out of that.
that was actually so much more fun to watch than modern football... more attacks, long shots, barely any simulations and the most important - players actually played the game for the trophies for their team and not just for money, changing clubs like gloves
Even now watching this I still get goosebumps. What an intense game.
