That's awesome! I made a similar chess set from nuts and bolts way back in 1979 when I was a senior in high school.

I've seen similar pieces but you made it look reasonable to try to make the pieces. You made it look very easy to make the board. I'm sure it's not that easy but you did it very well.

Wear a mask when grinding, the fumes and dust from the plating is not good for your lungs.

Castellated nuts would work perfectly for your rooks or castles, and save you quite a bit of work with the grinder. Nice work!
