  • 17:50 The first exercise was squats. The second exercise was bench press. The third exercise was a back pulldown. The exercises are usually named after the way you move your body.

  • For breakfast, I used to eat oatmeal, but then I realized it has a lot of carbs. Now, we make chia pudding: Just get a glass jar and put about 1/3 chia seeds and fill the rest with a liquid like water or milk and put it in the refrigerator. You can keep it in the fridge for several days. Each morning, just consume a few spoonfuls.

  • Best of luck on your way, Denys - you will do it! My (not asked for 😅) advice is to not necessarily eat less (as that will leave you inevitably hungry and grumpy and there is a risk of your metabolism going into "hunger mode", thus causing yoyo effect), but to shift ratios towards more veggies/fresh fruit, good/moderate portions of low fat proteins (lean meat/fish, low fat dairy) and small portions of carbs, preferably whole grain (pasta, rice) or low carb options of those like pasta made from lentils or peas. Boiled potatoes are good too. Just my two cents though, you'll know best how you want to go about it. 😊

  • Best of luck Denys! I'm losing weight and getting healthier this year too, although in my case I have to concentrate more on nutrition and low carb and not so much on exercise, but that' works for me. About 15 kilos so far and I'm about half way to my goal. At 72, I think I am twice your age. Been following your other channel since the early days and sometimes watch this one too. So, happy to follow your progress towards your health goals!

  • Hi Denys! You inspired me to do exercise today! I walk about 5km/day usually but I was very sick for a few years so I lost a lot of muscle and my endurance is low (but improving). The gym is too expensive for me right now so I’m doing calisthenic exercises instead. I had pain in my back when I was younger and the doctor suggested I work on my core muscles (abs/six pack & obliques) as well as back muscles. I also found it very helpful to do stretching because some back pain can be caused by tight muscles from sitting or standing with bad posture.

  • Denys, I am so proud of you. I promised to do this with you. I ordered a stair climber machine from Amazon to use at home. It should arrive Sunday, so I have to use it because I promised! I used to lift weights to techno music with a big group at the gym, 3 times a week, and then I stopped going during covid. I bought weights to use at home, and got injured pretty badly. I have spent 6 months of the past year doing physical therapy. I dont know if you could be more adorable, you are a wonderful person, and you already look fine- but for you to feel strong, healthy and happy is everything. Getting into the glider is a great motivation. I am so happy to see you taking this step. Now I have to do it!! I said I would, and I will. ❤🎉

  • Hi Dennis. Glad to see that you are safe with your family, which is the most important. I'm one of your old followers, an old man indeed (twice your age!), former helicopter pilot (in the French Army and then experimental test pilot). You don't remember me of course but I advised you at the very begining of this tragedy not to jump into the war "on impulse" so to speak, as you intended to do, since you didn't have any military background and I'm quite sure you wouldn't be here today. On the other hand you had to take care of your wonderful family who needed you and that probably nobody would have efficiently helped in case anything bad would have happened. You did what was to be done and I know it was not easy. What I mean, I'll be direct, is that your weight today is only the tip of the iceberg. It's a consequence, not a cause! I can barely imagine all what you went through but I can get an idea of your current state of mind where everything scrambles in your head... So first don't get stuck in depression: KZhead is fine but impersonal and as such probably not sufficient. Don't hesitate to see a doctor to get some anxyolitic medecine (nothing to do with steroid which is a doping product) to "clean your brain". I know: you first reaction will be "no, I don't want any medecine" but ... I also went through bad times, not the same of course but quite serious at the time and this helped me a lot since it gives you back the capability to "prioritize the problems" when everything seems to have the same importance (a missing button from your jacket as much as a car accident ... you see what I mean). It's a temporary treatment cleaning somehow the electrical connections in the brain and it has the huge advantage to work while being not addiciting at all (while hamburgers can be addicting ...). And the effect is rather fast. Then you can face what is urgent and what is less: your head first since everything depends on it, including the happiness of your family: if you are not happy, they won't be either and that's not what you want. Try to limit your time making KZhead videos, at least not more than necessary, if possible of course. There is a balance to be found since your viewers might be friendly but they are not your family. In the meantime you will succeed in losing weight using the gym and a "serious" diet with the aim to feel better and, if you can aford it, to go flying gliders from time to time. I understand your need of aviation since I got the same "virus"... It can be part of the treatment as well: I remember, in my case, that flying sometimes was a breath of fresh air, a place where I could be fine and appeased, even for a short period of time but with a lasting positive effect. Bad time don't last for ever, Dennis: step by step you will get out of this mess and probably stronger that before. The hard part is done so don't give up, it will be alright. Then, and only then, it will be time to think about whether it will be worth going back to Ukraine and when, regarding all the aspects of the situation. Later on. So my "do-list": 1. To see a doctor (not a psychoanalyst, they are useless) for some medical support 2. In parallel: gym and diet (again with the advice of a doctor): anyway forget McDonald, Donuts and things like that, your parents were right. Otherwise the gym wil be useless. 3. To spend as much time as possible with your family showing them your love and your willingness to overcome the ordeal 4. When possible, to go to a flying club, from time to time, discussing about aviation and flying a little bit. 5. Depending on your personal situation (financial, legal, ...) and the situation, post-war obviously, in Ukraine (political, economical, ...) to make a decision and prepare for the future You have talents Dennis, you can do it and you will succeed. It's like in a rough flight, you are the captain, a good captain. Sorry I've been too long: if I bothered you being perhaps a little "intrusive", I apologize since it was not my intention at all and I will keep silent in the future. Otherwise think about what an old man can tell you and if you have any question or whatever you need, don't hesitate to contact me. All the best to you and your family

  • Denys: 0:30. The same Denys, but after several exercises and shots of water the circle is narrowed: 20:45 . To summarize, Denys thanks for the video, we all wait for the continuation of the blogs, and for your body transformation, you stood on the right path, never give up, proceed with your exercises! Losing weight is a speedy process, every month you can easily lose 4kg, but gaining the muscles is another story, this process is much slower that takes years to look athletic. But anyway, when you lose your fat mass to the extent you wanted and start to really aim at muscle gain (because now the maximum you can is to preserve muscles you currently have while losing fat mass), having a calorie surplus, consuming protein at the extent of at least 1.8g per kilogram of your body weight, and start bodybuilding, especially at the very beginning of these activities every 3-4 months you'll be able to notice a slight difference at the mirror, but of course, this process will start to slow down and slow down, the most important here is not to give up, to proceed with that and these activities must be already an integral part of your (routine) life, and one day you'll be so bulk that you realize you aren't able to fit in the B737 cockpit (yeah, we all know of its size), and there is nothing left the company will be pushed to transfer you to A350. I hope that long before this time UIA will possess these aircraft and everything will be fine in Ukraine ✨✨

  • Hello! That's great! I haven't watched the video, but I'll be glad to share my own experience: 1. I'm workouter (basically training outside, hard variations of pushups, pullups and so on). 2. First thing, before you start your fat lose and muscle gain journey you need to get some theory. What are calories, carbohydrates, proteins, fats. I highly DON'T recommend going on a diet, you will not last long. I higly DO recommend is trying to slightly correct your food. For example, try to add more vegetables, protein food. Don't forget about sweet or fat, it's very important. Just try, experiment and you'll get it. And yeah, if you want to eat chocolate, eat it. It's better to eat 1 chocolate per day than not eating it for 2 days and then eating out 6 of them in 1 day. 3. In the gym, be careful with weights and technique. You can easily kill yourself if you don't adjust it. Choose, you want to achieve more muscles and low durabiltiy or more durability and lower muscles (ofc they will look fantastic). 4. Never steroids. Never. 5. And the last thing. Don't compare yourself with others. If you became better, you're on the right way. That would be all. I'm not the best or biggest, I just want to share it to get more people in it. Thanks for your work.

  • Hello again, enys:! I hope you took it easy on yourself today with your first workout:). One of the things I remember al too well when I returned to weight training was that after the first day or two, I worked myself too hard and then experienced way too much pain and stiffness after that first day or two. So, please go slowly until your body remembers what you are asking of it:). Also, please remember to stretch before you start working out, and to focus on your larger muscle groups and then move to the specific muscle groups:). If you tire the small muscle groups first, then you will not be able to work the larger muscle groups properly. Hmm, from I can see, though, you are likely to be working a bit too hard for your first ay. I guess we will know tomorrow, yes:)? Anyway, I am thrilled that you have decided to focus on your health. This is only a good thing:)! Ah, yes, you are straining just to do three sets of the exercises:(. Please take it easy and work back into it gradually, my friend:)! You are not competing with anyone but yourself:)! Also, as you lift the weight, you should be breathing in and then breathing out as you lower the weight. Breathing is also important in how you move the weights:). Also, Denys, please remember that you are not doing this only to improve your physical health. You are doing this to improve your mental health, too! So, please do your best to focus on simply doing the exercises and doing them correctly rather than how much weight you are moving. Remember too, it is not the amount of weight that you are lifting or moving that counts, but HOW you move the weight that is most important:)! Ask a trainer to work with you on each piece of equipment for what you feel you want to work on. That way you will know what you are trying to achieve and the best way to achieve it as you work on each machine. Also, I KNOW you are going to be sore tomorrow. So, think of this as recovering from an injury until your body becomes more used to the work you are asking it to do. And, take some sort of non-opioid pain reliever like Tylenol or Aspirin just before you leave for the gym. That might help a little bit to relieve some of the pain you are no doubt going to be experiencing after the work out I just witnessed you do. Remember, move the weights slowly, and breath out as you lit the weight and breath in while you lower the weight. Wishing you a relatively pain free day tomorrow:)! Lee

Muscle is what holds your body together and burns calories. Being stuck in a cockpit for many hours requires a strong back.

  • If it's anything like the US, make sure you never look within 45 degrees of any woman in there, and if they have a camera on a tripod, either leave or stay out of its field of view. Consume less calories, burn more. Yup, that;s the equation, but unfortunately I've had it reversed for way to long now. We are with ya, dude, A diets are shiite, You have to change your way of eating as a way of life. Less meat, more 'grass' (which is what most greens taste like to me). Yeah, free weights do things that machines don;t, but the machines have some advantages if you want to work specific muscle groups without working ones that might have problems, like my back. Yeah, sugar sucks. I just found a REALLY good tasting sweetener, it is pretty much as good as sugar, but if you buy it watch out, with a 3 qt pitcher of tea you need about 25 drops, it is POTENT. It is called Monk Fruit without erythrital, and the without part is IMPORTANT, because they cut much of it with that, and that stuff is NOT good. It has no calories and no insulin reactivity, so your blood sugar doesn't sky. You can research it to learn more, obviously. Try it, I guarantee you will like it. Amazon has it.
