  • Nigeria, we hail thee!... I was reading African business magazine in Germany 35 years ago where the were comparing two African countries with the potentials of becoming an economic super power. They said it's going to be either Nigeria or South Africa. But the problem with South Africa is ANC's communist inclinations. The problem with Nigeria being they can change a 5 year plan in five days. Now tell me if they were wrong.

Tinunu awarded the road to himself to further enrich his pocket and advance his Eko Atlantic Personal interest with our resources. Tomorrow will tell benefit of that road to Nigerians or Tinunu and his Yoruba cronies.

    • @@albah289 I think it's you reading meanings into it bro. I'm not from Lagos and not even Yoruba FYI. There is no need to give it an ethnic or religious colouration. It happens everywhere. Smaller projects are demolished to pave way for bigger projects that will lead to bigger economic turnover. It's someone's progress Vs the country's progress. The smaller one has to go especially when he will be compensated. So why didn't they pack up their things within the given period of time. Many Nigerians are notorious for this. First step, vacate and save as many of your belongings as much as possible then you can continue to negotiate perhaps the govt may change its mind. Meanwhile that corridor belongs to the FG. I don't know how people will be situating their businesses along the coast when you know that the FG has ownership to it. If it doesn't happen now, it will happen eventually. One person will come and take it over. In this case, they are not just taking it over, they are bringing a bigger project that will benefit the entire country so it has to go.

    • No, it’s because of THOUSANDS OF JOBS (and even thousands more of dependent livelihoods) that will be lost - in a country with probably over 50% unemployment rate! 🤦‍♀️ There is NO discernible technical or engineering reasons for the NEW alignment dreamt up from the Minister from landlocked Abakaliki. In fact, the first few kilometers of the road at Ahmadu Bello is nowhere near the coast, and thus reverting (as in GOING BACK) to the ORIGINAL alignment merely means extending the non-coastal beginning of the road from Ahmadu Bello to Water Corporation Road (ie, a small strip of about 1.5km out of the proposed 700km), in order to save scores of independent small businesses, THOUSANDS OF JOBS and livelihoods while preserving tax income, corporate and VAT tax revenues that flow to government coffers (but of course the Nigerian government is not worried about tax revenues so long as it continues to derive most of its revenues from the economic and environmental GENOCIDE of the Niger Delta). The reversion to the original alignment seems an easy and obvious WIN-WIN that preserves both the road and jobs/livelihoods (and would even be much CHEAPER as it wouldn’t require massive dredging and sand filling), but of course Nigeria did not become the World’s Capital of Extreme Poverty by making the right choices!!
