Who is approving the building these houses? They all need to be questioned and jailed.
When i was building my house neighbours advice me to increase the size as they did i refused . After 10 uears they mark their homes . Two uears later their homes were demolished.
Same thing with offsets. Many flout the rule. When the government comes knocking as they need to expand the road, offenders start wailing.
I salute you for your sincerity, but the same neighbors who failed to follow the rules will now be blaming the government.
We still have to obey good laws. Lagos Govt. is doing well in demolition of illegals
They are quick to destroy but lazy to build. This is just sad. I will follow up with this news.
Who issued the building permits? Where was the Department of Building & Safety when the structures were going up?
Nobody approved it. It is our custom in Nigeria to build Shantis where the government did not approve and government MAY not come after you until the day they need the area.
@@user-hj9qj4td7qlisten to what the man on glasses said. It boils down to government incompetence
Corruption Corruption Corruption
@@user-hj9qj4td7qfor your eyes na shanty houses dem dey demolish abi?
@Profe046 It doesn't matter he says what matters is the fact that the tradition of Nigerians building where the government did not approve is ALL OVER the states across Nigeria. Which ALL the governors are guilty of it.
It is pain and trauma to demolish someone house 😢😢😢😢
Nigeria government, especially those in Lagos, they take great delight in marking buildings and demolishing them. Why? If indeed this was about the canals, we saw the commissioner in front of a blocked canal. Have they cleared that first before going on to demolish built structures? A number of these people have their government-issued documents. Even if you have genuine papers, they will still demolish. Did you provide temporary accommodations for these people before rendering them shelterless?
Why should the plan of the waterways be a secret document. The Lagos State Government as well as all state governments should make these documents easy to access. It should be on the state government website. Then I won’t spare an iota of sympathy for law breakers whose properties are demolished. I felt pity for the residents.
Tbh these plans are easy to access. Before we built 2 years ago we had to do a survey plan and then submit it at Alausa to find out if the land had any issues on it. We were given the c go ahead to get building approval, we submitted close to 15 documents with payments before we got approval before we built. A lot of people in our estate who built several years ago don't even have survey plans talk less of building permits. The Lagos state government agencies are also to blame because they gave us go ahead to build even before we got building permits because we paid some fines and extra money but we decided to follow the process and ensure we complete it
TOKUNBO WAHAB might just be the most hated man in LAGOS state. Keep up the good work sir
We wanted to buy some plots of land a few years ago. The architect advised us..."don't buy anything around here, this area is NNPC pipeline, that side is federal land, he guided us to an area further from the original place, where we finally bought land. We have been there now for over ten years, nobody came to us once...We have to tell ourselves the truth...
Don’t worry they will remember u, corruption in the system
The fear of water ways is the beginning of wisdom in Lagos state! Some people will even buy land in the water.😅
Ahahahhah! And right of way for raid too Eg coaster.
@ashestoashes6902 Makoko is built on water and shit water surrounds everywhere.
@@nnfefe9451 😳🙆
The height of wickedness, this is not about drainage. Those who own those properties received original approvals from Lagos Government. Dual standards
It is a painful situation but let’s be realistic, if the government wad wrong the people would not be begging. A lot of them are well educated to fight it in court. And they gave them 6months, 1year and even 2years notice before the demolition.
they didnt . stop lying
The Media houses in Lagos are not doing their job professionally. Why are they not asking the government officials the right questions. Can you raise a building foundation without approval? Not to talk of a complete structure in Lagos. Why is it that the government officials that allowed the commencement of these buildings have not been questioned or prosecuted. Were those lands purchased without approval? Media, ask questions to help the masses even if the government is bent on increasing the hardship for the people.
Exactly, the media are cowards, they are not doing their job.
Building in Lagos is a bad idea...
Not bad at, u must respect laid down procedures
@@kamaldeenaolatunji7282 procedure will be changed by the next government and your building is gone, building in lagos is a huge risk
@@kamaldeenaolatunji7282adi? But emm let me ask "Who is approving these buildings and why has no one in the Lagos state government not arrested and prosecuted any official for these bogus approvals"?
😂DEM NO DEY TELL PERSON NA 😂😂😂
You have never lived in lagos . You just dey follow online trends
Ppl should stop erecting buildings without approval.
Was there any C.Of O., for these properties? And if so, who granted them permission to build their houses along the canals? Because the land speculators usually inform the land buyers that all is well, but it is the duty of the land owners to investigate if their parcel of land conforms with the Lagos State Government regulations. It is a common practice in the developed countries. Never bribe people to secure illegal access.
The owners of the properties should seek full redress from the authorities that issued the Cof O in the first place. That is real justice!
It is very important to follow building and environment laws when buying or building. Most of those houses are literally sitting on the water. We need to tell our selves the truth...
Like they say in Benin City “money miss road”, what sane human being builds on a drainage or canal. No sympathy for anyone who is, part of the problem in Nigeria.
That the buildings were allowed to be erected in the first place points to the lack of planning by the government officials. Demolishing the buildings is selling after the market by the officials.
Who approved the building of these structures? Nigerians must learn that development comes with responsibilities! There must be a process. The attitude of disregard for laws must stop. 🛑 I wish Nigeria good luck!
We know the people, who are happy.
This is good job. People take advantage of government silence when they are building..
Una dey try. With a corrupt and changing government system you still build houses close to a canal.😢
I learnt it takes forever to get your building plan approve in Lagos. The government should ensure efficiency and transparency in the administration of building approval.
That's not true, with in months once all documents are complete
Nigerian government always fight the wrong fight with wrong priorities.Maybe if the state clean out all the canals of rubbish and weed first before they start demolishing houses, things might be better.Where were they when this buildings were going up?They did not bother to stop the construction then,or bring them down then, they waited until a house has been fully erected and completed...Bad leadership, lack of planning or implementation of plans.
When people are stopped from building they go behind to give bribe. And they built. Those genuinely given permits are always compensated. Noone should claimed he did not know When desater comes and killed they will blame the government.
So it is the government that is putting the rubbish in those canals? Is it the government that is building homes on those canals? Nigerians will blame everyone but themselves. The reason why Nigeria is a failure is because nobody holds their own selves accountable. Nobody, from the president down to the suya man
Responsible citizens adhere to rules; ignorance doesn't absolve them. It's glaring when individuals construct on drainage lines-it's plain and evident. They assume the government won't respond because they've bribed officials. While there are legitimate criticisms of the government, citizens must also accept blame. It's time to own up to our actions. My sympathy lies with the tenants who rented these spaces, not the homeowners.
This is one of the reasons why it has never worked, it is not working and will never work. In a society that is regarded as a human society, it is the responsibility of the government to regulate the activities of the citizens for a conducive environment. In Nigeria, the government will even encourage wrong things and use same to punish the citizens later. Citizens will continue to suffer until they accept the truth.
May be if citizens stop paying bribes to govt officials, we might have some sanity. These people know what they are doing is wrong, they still find a way to bypass the system. Is it not Nigerians that are the civil servants? We have no excuse jare. Look at how close the buildings are to the canal. I won't buy or build on such lands.
Well done for your good job Sir and Carry on Sir God bless Lagos state government Amen 🙏🇳🇬🙏💚🤍💚🌹🌺💚🤍💚
We like to take unnecessary risks. You see some houses at flood plain areas and you wonder if they have permits.
Thank you sir for a very good job done. I therefore want to use this medium to please come to Sesan moyegun street, ijeshatedo Surulere because we are suffering flooding which results in loss of properties because some people build along the drainage channel thereby narrowing the road and turning two drainage channels to one which in turn affects the rate of discharge of water when it rains.
Who gave them the approval to build the houses in the first place?
What I see here is is that buying land and building a house is a big risk in Nigeria especially when the concept of due process and process is an enigma . At present both sides are arguing and do we ever get to root of the matter ? No
This is the same way Nigeria fights insecurity; the leaders wait until it occurs. A responsible government will not wait until buildings are erected on the right of way before they take action. In other climes, Lagos State Government would be paying trillions in damages.
Igbos now will start talking rubbish that they are demolishing igos building like say they are d only people built house in lagos
SOMETHING CHANGED HE SAID .BUT THE DEMOLITION GROUP DIDN'T ANSWER THAT...WELL TRIBALISM CHANGED HANDS😮
The city of Venice in Italy was built on water since AD 421. London was built on muddy Thames river. In Nigeria, there are no engineers to drain the waters. There you have it about people who think that they have the mental capacity to rule themselves.
Even in Netherlands, the country is full of water but after 1953 Netherlands flood, One of the engineers in Netherlands brought up a plan and they built a dam to control the waters so after since 1953 there is never flood in Netherlands. Amsterdam is full of water, everywhere in Amsterdam there is a canal there but never flooded. When the city is very clean forget about flood. In Amsterdam they always clean their canals. Lagos is too dirty so the Lagos Government should start cleaning the city and stop demolishing people buildings. It's very sad!
So so sad this is happening 😢
So many buildings are going down, i witnessed this happening live in mende Maryland ajose, so many building owners loose there buildings, even the man with the white big mansion/ that was just built, and they were not even done with the building, they were still working as at of that day everything went down.
Madness every time. Sick society and government.
Where were they when these buildings were being built
The lack of sympathy in government stains the pretentious good they claim to do for the development of the state.
Na wa oo people money. Waste
Painful
Build house in your village and rent house in Lagos especially if you're not from Lagos
Mumu, this developer that was talking is he not from lagos? Ewu biafra.
Then why giving them permit to build in the first place?
They need to overhaul the whole system, that’s what Ghana did n off course in UK ur colonial master. All land must be registered at ministry of land , so everyone can be sure land is legitimate, pay the owner n pay government tax Shekena
much needed gov taxes indeed. we borrow so much because taxation is pathetic.
My my sympathy to those who lost their homes its like khive turning my god insecurity now no love god help my people
How many of these structures belong to Yoruba or Northern people? Am sure they are all Igbo properties
To destroy is all you people know
Very evil people, because they are politicians who can afford to stay in Ikoyi and Victoria Island, these politicians disregard rhe people, so insensitive and callous.
Ha!
Guys come back to t east
Stop building in lagos or even Nigeria
Hmmmm🤔🤔🤔🤔
The whole lagos was lagoon people fill sand and build houses later it becomes drainage Passage
Composition
AS AN IGBO MAN DO NOT INVEST IN LAGOS 📍😂
Igbo men who live in lagos know lagos has blessed more igbos than any other city in the world. Nah people like you wey never comot your village dey lament online
then also stay in your village
Miss use of power
Will there be money for them
What money? There is only compensation when government is taking a land that is rightfully owned by you for development of some sorts.
Bad investment
Governance of the land is suicidal in all ramifications
Let's wait and see the development the lagos state government will do here, Nigeria government don't no anything more than destroy why because they can't think by their self and do better things, we all know that black leaders can't build but destroy that's all we know about black leaders😂
Lies and jealousy
Lack of common sense from an ewu biafra aka the children of envy, hate, anger and bitterness aka ndigbo.
The Lagos state government could have avoided this destruction by by-passing this structure and creating alternative routes. Lagos Government should work with its Engineers and be more creative instead of destroying the infrastructure and the economy of the people of the state
When flood comes you can't reroute it.
The new route again will be trespassed and the cycle continues. Let's learn to do the right things
Goodnews Burabari Aatormoses
I can never build house in Lagos even if the land is gifted to me
