Lagos state need total urban renovation, apart from the island most part of lagos is a glorified shanty.Apapa use to be a beautiful area when l was younger,today it is a shanty.The back of marina,ljora all those old houses need to be bought and developed to high rise buildings.The state need to invest in road sweeping machines,keep the roads looking clean always,paint road kerbs and barriers,get landlords to paint their houses regularly,say once in 4 years.The city need to plant more trees,gardens etc.Thank you.
They are the best commissioners in the country. Environment and Urban Planning are keys to everything else including human existence

He is making a lot of sense. Some of these landlords do whatever they want without permit or approval. In Lagos for the longest time people have been doing what they want. They encroach on lands. Now if you buy an agricultural development or land ear marked for oil production refinery. You cannot turn it around for residential development. But then again the government shouldn't just stand by and watch these developers work on these land. If this has happened, that means someone, some entity compromised their position for money. A bunch of enablers. The enabled is enabling the enabler.
Mr. Olumide, Lagos is congested because successive governments have not addressed rural to urban drift. In the first place, Sanwoolu should have relocated the seat of government to Epe, Ikorodu or Badagry. Secondly, the State civil service has no business having its seat at Alausa.This is the age of ICT. Let the state government lead the way and de-urbanize the Lagos metropolis by moving all its non-essential services out of the heart of Lagos. The Lagos elites including Tinubu would dare not contemplate the issue of depopulating Lagos because turkeys never vote for Xmas.
Planning permit that people would apply for and it would take forever for them to get it. Physical Planning & Urban Devt are using the power of the government to cover their inefficiencies.
One of the best ways to "Minimize" the contiunous influx to Lagos from every parts of the Country is for President Tinubu to keep Encoraging and maybe Pleading with other Governors to Develop their States. And for Gov. Sanwolu to have more Talks with his fellow Governors. This should also be done by everyone of us.
It may be easy to trick some people on certain issues but those with discerning minds comprehend the obvious even from a far. A question for the Lagos State government here is; If it claim the buildings are unapproved by it, how were the homeowners able to acquire the lands, developed from scratch to finish in their numbers across the state without its knowledge? Truth be told here... Whatever is evil need not in any guise deemed nor portrayed right by anyone. Yes, it is easy to chat and make fun of the injustices meted out to helpless people now on your TV interviews BUT Truth remains..., that the random Demolition of their genuinely acquired properties without due compensation is man's inhumanity to man and KARMA will not be kind to the land of Lagos state for carrying out such an Inhumanin act against strangers whose hard work over the years has contributed immensely to the growth of the state only to be treated with such cruelty.
What question is this. Several varables determine capacity, not pipulation orr land size: innovation, infrastructure, economics, effective planning, etc. A city of 10,000 people may be overstretched while a ciry of 10,000 may have capacity to accommodate more.
Government of lagos state is the major problem. The commissioner is playing to the gallery. Do you believe many areas of lagos , example ikorodu is still marked Agric area and where many have built houses . If government is serious ratified the land and let people get the right documents.
Why should bad or illegal buildings be ratified? They knew before they built it. The government should not encourage illegality , all the buildings must be removed, and the people must learn to do things right.
