  • I met Donna Summer back in 1980 at Gelson's market in Westlake and she was driving a black Maserati. I approached her asking her, politely, "are you Donna Summer?" She replied, "Only when I want to be." I asked her for her autograph and she was so sweet and kind. She wasn't wearing an ounce of make-up and she was beautiful. She had on a skirt, and was wearing a wrap around sweater, and she had clogs on her feet. A natural beauty. R.I.P. pretty lady ❤

  • It is not being torn down! Repeat, it is not being torn down! A developer bought it and is subdividing the 40 acres to build more home on it. Donna's house will be left and only have 2-2.5 acres with it and the new owners can restore and update the house.

I imagine the mirrored room near the sauna had to be a part of her workout room/ dance studio. I wonder if the unfinished room was her recording studio and had state-of-the-art sound-proofing panels that were removed and sold. In the song "MacArthur Park", the phrase "the cake is melting in the rain" is a metaphor for the end of a love affair. The song's writer, Jimmy Webb, has said that the song is symbolic and that everything in it is based on things he actually saw in MacArthur Park, a real park in Los Angeles. Google - macarthur park is melting in the dark meaning, This is an appropriate song for the condition and fate of this house.. The song was prophetic. Weird huh.

Donna was an icon and very glamorous so she would have big spaces for her clothing dating back to the 1970s, costumes with her everyday clothes. And I know what all the spaces in the dressing room are for. Plus the unfinished back area looks like a planned recording studio that just didn't happen. • I found information on the estate sale held in September 2022, it included professional recording equipment; I suspect it originally belonged to Donna and her husband Bruce but was left behind when Bruce sold the house.

  • A beautiful mansion. It's such a shame it will be demolished. I loved the kitchen. The granite and the openness . I wish I had a closet that big. ❤

  • Donna’s home is incredible! She was the first artist I became obsessed with as a little girl. I loved her, loved her music. I was heartbroken when she passed away. I can’t believe that it’s already been 12 years. I’ll never forget her. It’s such a treat to see her home and to visualize her here. Sing with the angels, Ms. Donna. ❤

  • I Am truly touched by this seeing where one of my Favorite Icons spent her life in As a Teenager I Loved All of her music she was so amazingly talented and Deserved all these Lady like comforts. I know she had a Dance studio in there amongst so many other great room. I am Overwhelmed Heartbroken that someone has the Audacity to tear down a real gem like this so very sad

  • It's rare for such a big house to be so welcoming. My favorite rooms were the kitchen (what's not to like?), and the closet/dressing room. I'm thinking that all of the strange rooms/spaces on the second floor were kid's bedrooms and play rooms, though I have a hard time imagining why they would design them like that. The basement was strange. I fully expected to see a home theatre and a pool room (the kind of pool you play on a pool table), but the rooms are so generic it's hard to say. Donna Summer was such a massive talent - she was a major part of my collige days - disco wouldn't have been disco without Donna. You should have had more time with us Donna. Thanks for the music. RIP.
