  • I used to be a GM guy. Active fuel management(cylinder deactivation) and auto start-stop, with no disabling button, moved me to Ford/Lincoln. My Lincoln engine runs on all cylinders and when I start the engine, I turn-off the auto start-stop feature using the touch screen. I don't have to purchase after-market products to accomplish either. GM ran me away as a customer several years ago. I used to like my Chevys, Pontiacs, and GMCs. They left me, I didn't leave them.

    • I basically abandoned GM after 2019 in my eyes. 2020 c8 though futuristic fast and amazing, is NOT a true corvette based on mid engine and all auto. It just went to a different market. The 2019 zr1 is basically the last amazing super car they make with a 7 speed manual. Their trucks aren’t what they used to be. And with their supposed voiced move to be “all electric” by 2030, completely capped any feelings I have toward their new lines. I’ll always be a GM guy in terms of Camaros GTOs G8s and the amazing corvette along with the older duramaxes all the Tahoes and Yukons/suburbans I grew up in … but I don’t think I’d ever buy new from GM or give them the time of day :(

  • Buicks are beautiful cars, and with regular maintenance, they'll treat you well. My parents had a 03 LeSabre until about 8 months ago, and only traded it in because the rear struts were literally rusting off the car (they live in Connecticut, so the road salt corroded the strut mounts practically off). When they traded it in, that car boasted a whopping 217,000+ miles, and they would have kept driving it had it not been for that issue. Nowadays, they have a 2014 and 2017 Buick LaCrosse, both of which have given them no issues. When it's time to replace my car, I'm hoping to get a Buick myself.

    • @@jasono2139dodge sucks. I had a 99 dodge Avenger that I bought in 2004 and I put it in reverse and then when I put it in drive it died and would not start. Don't remember what it was but it cost me $1300.00 to fix it. The engine idled ruff by the time it had 115,00 miles on it and I paid several people to fix it never could get it fixed. And one cold winter morning the driver side door handle broke after I had it 1 year so I always reached through the passenger side to open the door. Then one day at 158,000 miles another cold winter morning it just died on me while I was doing about 45mph and I had just enough to coast into the gas station. While I was making up my mind wether or not I was done with this car I decided to go into the gas station to get a coke. So I went to open the passenger side door and now THAT handle broke off so I threw it and said "I'M DONE WITH THIS CAR" then I brought an 09 Corolla in the fall of 08 now it has 139,000 miles and still runs like the day I bought it. And I went car shopping for my mom (she just wanted me to do it for her) and got her a 2015 Buick LaCrosse about 4 or 5 years ago have had no problems so far.

  • I never thought I would ever purchase a GM vehicle, but the Enclave has more passenger space, more cargo space, and more actual useable room behind the third row than any of the competition. It also has a dual-clutch AWD system that can send power to a single wheel if needed (which they stupidly got rid of starting in 2022), lots of tech and safety features, active suspension damping, is quiet, and has excellent power and handling. • I learned to drive in 1989 Buick park avenue. I absolutely loved that car. Ugly brown with a vinyl top. It had the opera lights on the sides along with a power antenna and a weird auto closing trunk - I used to get pissed when people slammed it. It had a “concert sound II” sound system - I had the cd adapter that you put in the cassette deck to play my disc man. The 3800 engine was a so awesome. Not really a fast car, but it was reliable, the transmission shifted flawlessly, and it rode Ike an absolute dream. When I was 18 and me and my buddies wanted to go out we took “the old man” car and loved every minute of it. My dad had Buicks from the 1950’s until he died in 2003. He bought his first and only new car in early 2003 - a brand new park Avenue - he was able to drive it once before he succumbed to cancer. My mom had that car for 18 years…. The only reason it didn’t last longer was due to the salt on the roads in the northern US…. Engine and transmission still shifted smooth. Buick still holds a place in my heart as cheesy as that sounds.

The original owner, from MA as well, bought it for $59K to have it as their "Winter car" at their Florida residence. 4 years later I bought it for $32K with only 26,500 miles on it. Lucky me! It was in literally brand-new condition, garaged and well maintained. • If you ever start getting offers, take one and ditch GM. And the 3800 wasn't always what people say. There's brand loyalty with anything but hey if you can live with it, hey that's cool. Right now we're lucky to have what we have.

    • @@Elaine-vf3kd I have to agree with him. Everyone I know who’s had these or any other GM on this platform, they had nothing but problems after 50,000 miles. Expensive problems that required an engine out repair or just major involvement. The last good car Buick made was probably the 08 ish Lacrosse right before they phased out the 3800 engines. They’ve been on a decline for a last decade or so.

  • Bought a used 2019 in 2020 before the used car spike, it's a great car, was in the 30k range, traded in an old 08 Enclave for it. Didn't think us middle aged people would like a "grandparent" car, but it's great, you can hear the kids all the way in the 3rd row, and spoils us to the lack of road noise. New model is getting much better gas mileage, ~400mi to a tank, not bad for this guy with a lead foot!

  • I daily drive a 77 Lincoln Continental with side view mirrors on the doors about the size of a yellow sticky note, and the rear view mirror on the windshield looking backwards are the only three reference points I have on it and I can still drive just as good as someone could with the modern car. it's all about the steering!!

  • I have a 2012 Buick Enclave with 219,000 miles. But it’s had a gamut of repairs to get it there. Power steering pump, alternator, water pump, both rear wheel bearings. And of course a big repair to fix the transmission shudder… a torque converter. I also have to change the oil every 3-4K because some of the direct injection engines burn oil… which mine does. But the body and interior are holding up great. Quiet and rides nice.
