I am not a hair stylist, but through the years have cut my own hair. I did this cut today at home by myself. I have thin, wavy hair, and wear it straight often. It took maybe 15 mins and I was done and it turned out beautifully. I did not use the thinning scissors. I cut straight across but cutting away from my face and then did the point cut in to make it look wispy. It looks like it was done professionally. Thank you so much for this tutorial. You saved me a good $100. Super easy, super quick and excellent results!❤❤❤
Thanks for this. I'm ready to give it a go now! ❤
@@suzyvials319 How did it go?
I'm going to do.this without thinking like you said. I went to NY stliaand spend $120 for nothing. I feel comfortable doing this. ❤
How did it turn out@@suzyvials319
What I love about this method is that the layers blend really well. No need to point cut around the hair. You just need to blend in the front. I thinned 30% to maintain some weight but it took out the bulk. Blow drying using the Bondi blowout brush is super easy and quick now. Looks like I just walked out of the salon. Thank you! Best tutorial.
I just did it and this worked perfectly to me. Dry hair and professional scissors. Thank you so much for such a useful video ❤️
Easy instructions. Thank you. I am cutting my girlfriends hair as she is undergoing radiation treatments. I pray it makes her look & feel so much better about herself.
Thats so sweet , and i wish you guys good luck
I’ve been trimming my own hair for about 1-2 years now because stylists kept cutting off too much when i was trying to grow it out. I have fine, wavy/curl medium length. Today i tried this and the only difference i did was make the 3rd pony tail a little longer than the second one to keep my length. But very happy with it!! Thank you. It gives it alot of flow then having only one layer
Wonderful! I will try it on my hair!
Yes! Absolutely use thinning shears to avoid a blunt line, totally worth buying a pair (mine were $20) Depending on hair thickness and wispiness preference, adjust how aggressive you thin. This worked on my thick, straight Asian hair perfectly!!!!
Hello can you tell me what scissors I can buy that are good ones for 20 dollars please thanks kindly for your help I've been very disappointed with several pairs that I have ordered
Wow I really liked this so pretty and simple.
Thanks for showing that this can be done on a thinner hair type!
Agreed! I was so excited to see a model that had hair like I do, vs what I wish I had. 😂
Thank you for this tutorial! I just did it on myself and turned out great, I didn’t cut too much because I was scared, but the technique worked very well.
Love this technique 👌
just did this with my daughters help and i love it! thank you
Used straight scissors and it turned out beautiful.
love this! ty so much!
Just finished cutting it just as, I love thinning shears - the best tutorial I've seenthus far and my hair looks hella beautiful- thank u!!
Thank you so much for making it so simple to understand and for the camera angles to help with understanding the cut better.
This is my favorite haircut of all time ❤
Love it… scissors are amazing.. thanks 🙏🏽🫶🏻
What an artist you are
I cut my daughters hair yesterday using yr video and it looks amazing, wow❤
Love this!
Love seeing your techniques
❤ Thanks so much Matt! Great, easy layered long haircut! Really helpful! 🙏
I did this this morning only I have mature hair so I blunt cut it and did a little point cutting in the ends. It turned out absolutely fantastic !!!!!! Thank you !!!
What does mature hair mean?
@@JB-tt6ct post menopause because menopause affects the thickness of each strand and hair thickness overall plus if you’re like me you are colouring it so that affects the hair as well. Plus as we age there is less body in our hair.
@@ladyluck5248 oh tnx for the info. I would never guess you're at that stage by your profile pic
@@JB-tt6ct I’m not that old. I went into menopause due to trauma …… hey stuff happens.
@@ladyluck5248Does menopause make each strand thicker or thinner?
My husband did this on my long hair. It turned out amazing with lovely layers and it makes a nice pony tail. We are saving the video. Thank you so much .
I think the three pony tail cut is a game changer for long hair that needs shape. This would look wonderful on someone who has really thick hair. Good job. Thanks for the tutorial.
You are the only hairdresser I can stand watching!
Thank you so much for sharing this technique ❤

Love it. Thank you
I just did this haircut on myself but a good bit shorter cause my hair is super thick and heavy and I needed to lose some volume. I really like the way it turned out. Will recommend.
Thank you sir! My hair so gorgeous right now. Thanks for saving my beauty and my money 😂❤
Amazing!! ❤ Well done!!
I love it.. congratulations❤😊
Do you place ponytails differently for side parts??
I do like the results ❤😊

Love the haircut 😊😊
Thank you, it worked!!! Finaly my hair fallin into place, bless u man!! ❤🙏🥰
Nice!
This guy is my idol.
gonna do this for myself
It's too thin on the ends.
Wow nice job I'm not a pro but went to Cosmo school and that was well done and I'm going to give it a try at home I do have my own sheets but I prefer the point cutting and slide cutting however I could just as well use a razor too but I'll probably cut to length then point cut to get the texture and the weight !! Thank you!❤
Maravillosa,fuerte abrazo desde Argentina.
Hi! I just did this, and it worked beautifully. I did an extra section because my hair was past my butt. I love it! I don't know how to style it or the products to use since I have a reaction to most things. I'll look around and see what I find. Thank you. ❤😊
I have very sensitive skin and scalp and use Everescents organic/natural range with no issues.
salt water and a little jojoba oil with a scent if you like - i hate all products
I will do that to my daughter soon
There's no clarity as to what length to cut each one of the ponytails. Same length? Graduated lengths? Ugh
If you look at how he’s cutting with every over directed section he’s using the front triangle section as a guideline and matches the back two to that first section so the first section is however much you want to cut off and that will be the guideline for the rest of the sections, hope it helps! 😊
It looks great as an end result but you don’t explain how to do it. Are you cutting each ponytail to the same length so the match?
What if you want similarly length layers in the back as in the front?
I love it! I want it! ❤
Fantastic haircut. How would you blowdry to keep layers on longer hair?
I want to try this for my birthday 😊
Stretch for back pain
Amazing!!!
Love it Matt
Wow i love it
That's the best looking easy cut I've ever seen! My daughter will be getting this haircut from me someday ha
I’ve been trying to get up the nerve to give myself the butterfly cut for a while but keep worrying that I’ll mess it up. Recently I’ve been trying to figure out ways to lessen the risk, so I decided on the 3 ponytail method rather than 2. Then I started to wonder if using texturising scissors to cut the length would help to soften it & make it more seamless…& then I found this video! Thanks for confirming this- I’m actually going to give it a shot now!
How did it go?
Heyyy is it good??
@@lizaandersson7738yeaa i wanna knowww
You are fantastic I wish you live in our state so you can cut all my family hair thank you for all the wonderful tips very professional super👏👏👏
Can you tell us how much length should you take off on the second pony tail compared to the first? Is it 2 inches, 2 inches, 2 inches or 2, 3, 4 inches?
I think it’s preference as to where you start the cut front of the pony and then just matching each to that first
Stunning ❤
Will you make a video for big forhead, ( both side hair shape V hair lost or less ) so try to save those area too
What happens if you did a sharp cut instead of thinning the hair, asking for those of us doing at home haircuts who can't do that technique.
You get choppy (not the good kind) of layers - a hairstylist
You can point cut with scissors, check out a tutorial for that and you’re golden.
I was thinking the same thing, why thin the hair? I don't understand these types of styles to cut hair. I already have thin and a very small amount of hair. To me, the haircut doesn't look good.
@@giretmercedessame I have fine wavy hair… I don’t want to make it even thinner
Check out brad mondos tutorial.
thank u
My hair is curly and on the thicker side. Would this work?
Che belli! 😃
Love it!
Thanks!!
I do not like how stringy & things the ends look… but I’m sure that’s just me :)
great job, look how I can do it!)😉
I have really thick coarse wavy hair. Thinning scissors make my hair look fried on the ends. Should I just point cut?
How would you adapt this for someone with a side parting?
Wow very nice 😊
Can you use regular cutting scissors and cut straight across? Or do you have a video of that same cut using a different method?
love it
The video was moving a little fast for me so I decided to watch it on half speed. I couldn’t stop laughing because you sounded hammered! Haha! But the haircut was a success so thank you!
Hey beautiful I love it 😀 ❤❤❤
