  • Just did this and I have a couple of notes. If you have a lot of hair, the sections are difficult to wrangle, so be patient and try to make them even as you can. Keep in mind that it seems all of the butterfly cut videos have the center part, so for those of us who *gasp* part on the side, you’ll have a heavier section that needs thinning bc it’ll be too chunky. I have professional-ish shears and thinning shears coming so I can refine things and soften things up on that thicker side. I was able to trim off 3-4” and still maintain decent length. Bring your patience and trust and this video on repeat. It does work! You may just need to go back and refine a bit after a blow dry to see where any chunks are. Hope this helps!😊

    • Thannnnk youuuu for the tips!! I don't know if you'll see this considering how long it's been, but could you please help me with cutting points? They make it look so easy, but done so fast that I'm not exactly sure how to do it🤦🏼‍♀️ I'm afraid I'll just take chunks out and all uneven at that lol

    • Also you can divide hair into 5/6 sections rather than the 3 show here if your hair is super thick.

  • Someone please explain to me why this comes out so much better doing it yourself over getting a bad chop from a cheap salon? Like can’t even they at least do this? I just don’t get why I need to suffer with paying outrageously for a decent haircut OR be more frugal but get the worst cut. Someone explain this to me?

    • They are hiring the hairdressers who are so bad at their craft they can't get a job elsewhere, that's why. All I know is that in my country you can be relatively bad at cutting hair and still get your degree as long as you pass your exams. Stuff like that is the reason I don't go to salons anymore. I am just tired of paying for bad haircuts, even if it's just twenty bucks.

    • School are businesses that crank out "graduates". There is NO consistency it how we are taught to cut hair. And new, smart, effective methods such as this are not even considered.😵 I've been cutting hais for 50 years and my great grandfather was an Austrian trained Barber and hand tied human hair wigs and tuppees! He even carved the wood "block heads" to make the toupees on!❤❤❤

      @madhabimaity5902@madhabimaity59027 ай бұрын
    • @@madhabimaity5902 It has been 6 months since you asked the question and no-one has answered so here goes.............Take a look at the KZhead videos where they part the hair at the back then pull it forward under the chin, and use an elastic band to tie the two pieces together into a beard under the chin, you then cut to the desired length. This means both sides are the same length and you get a u shape at the back. If you want more of a bob shape where it is shorter at the back and longer at the front, you in effect have to do the opposite, sweep all of your hair back to the nape of your neck , do a good job of combing it all back tightly, this ensures you get a good straight line. Tie a pony tail just about 2 fingers width below the bottom of the hairline for a shoulder length bob, or longer if you like, then cut.

  • Does this work on thick hair? Or will it come out choppy?

    @KraftyKohanek@KraftyKohanek Жыл бұрын
    • if your hair is thick at the end of the cut, you must use sculpting scissors to thin out the tips or the ends of the locks. in order to bring more lightness..

  • The part where it says.."cut each strand at the same level"...do u mean each sectioned piece...or that the 3sectioms should b the same length?

  • Hmmmm, I went to a very good hair-stylist, did an awesome color job, didn't fry my hair or ruin the natural curls... but she totally f*%#=d up my hair cut... put super short layers in... now I'm stuck until I can do the cut myself. So pissed. I've done this cut before and it works like magic. I will NEVER again let another stylist touch my hair with scissors!!

    • Yes

      @EstelleDavid@EstelleDavid Жыл бұрын
  • you can cut on wet or dry hair cutting on dry hair allows you to choose the right length, because wet hair always goes up as it dries tapering the ends of the hair brings movement and prevents scissor cuts that create a bar effect

  • The hardest part of this cut is sectioning it off when you have a lot of hair, but if you take the time it is worth it. Within ten minutes I had a cut worthy of my $65 cut at the salon. This is my new go to when I need a haircut going forward. Thank you !

    • She shows you after she cuts all 3 ponytails, she goes back in and instead of cutting vertical she cuts strait upwards into the hair horizontally

    • it's a 180 degree cut you have to cut straight (square) while falling the hair will have different layers

    • cut the ends of the hair allows to have an irregular result in order to bring movement but also to prevent the blow of scissors
