Closeup Footage of Pennsylvania Wildlife (Filmed at John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge)

I put on my "nature documentary" hat and did my best to obtain some closeup footage of some of the wildlife found here in Pennsylvania and the mid-Atlantic region, filmed at the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge in Tinicum.
Notes about this video:
1. This is going to be a monthly series as I've always loved nature documentaries myself and enjoy documenting/capturing animals & their behaviors.
2. Most of the footage is somewhat shaky due to the magnification of filming at the 600 focal length on my 200-600 zoom lens. The gimbal I recently purchased can't handle the weight of the lens, so I might have to upgrade for more stability/less shake. Also, there were some platforms I was on (not solid ground) which caused the camera to be more susceptible to vibration.
3. As much as I wanted to include the audio that matches the video, there was construction in the distance, heavy wind gusts, and plenty of people around. Besides, we're not really missing much sound-wise, so I added a peaceful audio track from one of my previous nature videos.
4. Video was shot in 4K which allowed me to zoom in even further to 1080p during the editing process, thus "doubling" the magnification even more.

  • I know some people are complaining about the lack of "regular programming" but I can tell you really like making these nature videos, and I think they're really special. Don't let the internet dictate what you choose to create.

    • Agree. Watched his video about all the jobs he had and he made this channel to express a bunch of creative energy. All of this is for him, it always was. We are just allowed the opportunity to enjoy it too.

    • I mean, it's not that different than an actor, guitarist, writer, painter, teacher, or anyone else who loves what they do. As for the switch from indoor to outdoor content, that's simple: I just want to make stuff outdoors. That's it. It's that simple. I'm in the basement writing this, same place where my videos normally take place, and it just nauseates me just thinking about filming in here lol

      @EphemeralRift@EphemeralRiftАй бұрын
    • Honesty the way KZhead narrows you down into one specific kind of content is really annoying as it kills diversity of content. Each channel must be ultra-specialized, there's no middle ground, as a creator you feel "obligated" to only do the content you think will yield the most views. Freeing oneself from this logic is hard...

  • These up-close captures of birds in motion has made me to realize that that when they move their heads, their tail moves as well (99% of the time). The fact that multiple birds exhibit the same displayed actions is even more intriguing. Great captures, Paul! 🤘🐥🤘

    @Lucianato2@Lucianato2Ай бұрын
    • Their head moves are quite fast and with their low weight the tail helps them to balance on little branches, so they "always" move the tail when they move the head. When they are on a solid floor they don't usually move the tail up and down as they did on branches. Take into account that their claws are small compared to the body and are not muscular, therefore they do not grab a branch with strength, they only stay over and balance. In my opinion of course.

  • The sound of nature was so peaceful that I sat in the right place with my earphones on, closed my eyes and meditated. I was under a lot of stress from one thing or another, but I'm at peace inside now. Thank you for the video!

  • I sure appreciate nature videos. I love the sound of the Red-winged Blackbird. From what I read, the new DJI RS 4 seems to have more torque on the motors. Also, I know it is possible to stabilize vide in post. Lots of info about that on YT of course. Check something called Gyroflow.

    @LouisD2023@LouisD2023Ай бұрын
    • Yeah, the DJI RS 3 I own can't hold the weight of the lens used in this video. Know the RS3 Pro can. Didn't know there's an RS4 out already lol. Looks like I'm making an exchange.

  • I gotta say it, I miss the rest of your videos, your channel has been overwhelmingly nature outdoors recently, and while they are nice, I'm not a huge fan of them myself. I'm guessing you've maybe taken a break from RP stuff to give yourself a creative break or something, hope it goes well whatever the reason may be.

    @RowanMackenzie@RowanMackenzieАй бұрын
    • And it's going to be overwhelmingly nature until... trying to think... Autumn? Winter? I mean, I might not ever get back to the other content. As I've told some other folks: I don't want to be indoors making content. That's it. Nothing to do with taking a break or lack of ideas. Hell, I spent over $1000 buying musical instruments to form the Arkham Sanitarium band, which I still need to do, but these non-indoor/outdoor videos take precedence atm.
