Forty-five people have died in South Africa after the bus they were in plunged off a bridge into a ravine, authorities have said.
An eight-year-old girl, the only survivor, was taken to hospital.
The bus crashed through a barrier and caught fire when it hit the ground in Limpopo province, in the country's north-east.
The passengers were pilgrims travelling from Botswana's capital Gaborone to an Easter service in the town of Moria.

My friends and i used to drive this bridge all the time. It always gave me chills every time we drove it, i know you others have met the same fate.

@@freespiritableIts actually not a bad road. The turn is sharp but you get warned by signs beforehand. Bus was probably overloaded and speeding because it completely destroyed the concrete barrier down to the steel reinforcements.

The road name is R518 which links Lephalale town with Mokopane town, indeed the area is scenic as is full of natural trees and wild life, i personally travelled in that road last month and the road is in a good condition except the sharp curve at the bridge which connects the two mountains, the bridge is commonly known as Mmamatlakala bridge. May their souls rest in peace.🇿🇦

My heart breaks for that 8-year-old girl. To witness such a horrific event and then be the only survivor must be unimaginably painful. It's a tragic way to lose loved ones, and the knowledge that she may experience survivor's guilt only adds to the heartbreak.

Unfortunately this kind of accident happens much more than it should in SA, I lived there for nearly 40years and it was a common occurance, I personally saw one happen once, on a windy road next to deep valley, the bus did not turn at bend and went straight over. I don't think it made the local papers. So I was supprised to see this on world news. May they RIP 😢

The massive influx of people to Moria for Easter every year unfortunately leads to accidents. Many of us in South Africa know better than to be on the roads over New Year or Easter…both seasons of large numbers of road deaths.

These poor souls were traveling from my home village in Botswana. My aunt knows some of them. Beyond sad. So very tragic.

@@moengele7560 They are from Molepolole village. Some of them may have been residents, not necessarily from Moleps. Akere Batswana settled everywhere to be close to Gabs. Le nna I don't tend to check social media but kgang e has affected me profoundly. I was so emotional today.

They went to the church gathering...thats so comforting to know...I pray that each and every soul on that bus will celebrate the resurection of our Lord in His Presence. I cant imagine the sorrow that those close to the victims of that tragedy are experiencing...God be with you, dear people! 😢
Bus Accidents is becoming something usual, in my country 2 days ago, a bus that was carrying full of football players got crashed. So many of them were critically injured. Some got passed out, and too the coach didn't make it

It's over speeding that caused this accident. That bridge 🌉🌉 was too curve for excess of speeding.
