    • We're quite aware of Jimmy here in the states. We have WAY more offensive comedians. Then there's the Aussies like Jim Jefferies. Most Brits seem pretty tame to me. Also, I love Jimmy, he's funny as sh*t, but he's a shameless joke thief.

    • Yes, but the source footage is very clearly from Comedy Central, not a raw, unbleeped, version. I figure that Comedy Central had control of the content, and not Jimmy. (No comment on the awful 4:3 -> 16:9 cropped conversion, though…)

But in the Uk and extended areas which share common humour, they would hold applause when certain jokes don't demand it and rather the cringe or offence is designed to rise your emotions to a farther reward as is where Jimmy is best. Take for example the almost to much cringe levels of the Office as was written for the UK to the zany antics that caught on in the US. Reaction guides a 2 way street and it's curios to see the difference.

  • Watching early Jimmy Carr is always lovely because you get to see the shy ‘new kid’ he started off as compared to the confident veteran he is now. The tone of his voice, the way he carries himself, and his craft changes with that

    • This is Newyork, very few of them are actually religious. It's just that North Americans are not as used to offensive jokes. You can see it on American stand up comedies as well. You can rarely see any highly offensive jokes. Even Jimmy tells very mild jokes whenever he's in NYC or in Montreal, Canada.

  • Wow. I’ve never seen Jimmy nervous before. He looks a little tense in front of an American audience. It’s amazing how much he toned down his stuff for this performance. And so sad that we can’t take a joke for what it is over here. A joke. The British are doing something right when it comes to comedy.
